Definitely older kids stuff--school and just doing activities in general (clubs, accomplishments, goals, volunteering, helping out, so busy, stress relief, learning to drive). Not about how great everything is, #1, my BFFs, and those way over-the-top gendered colors. I love that Second City line you posted, as well as Mon Ami. I consider those to be gender neutral colors too--you can use love color blends and both genders can use it. Like Basic Grey did! Gender neutral doesn't mean primary colors. The stereotyping is so terrible in scrapbooking. I have to work to make sure my pages DON'T look like that, which means only using a little of some of these lines at a time and mixing in more modern elements. Why can't they just be more modern and less cliched to begin with? I have a friend who has sold kits for years. People ask her for very specific things. I think people see a phrase, icon or a paper and think THAT would be perfect for my set of pictures. When many people scrap, they want the thing that screams this works for this set of pictures. That is the kit they purchase. The generic kits that are less specific stay in their inventory for a lot longer. Perhaps as seasoned scrappers (like many of us on here), we tend to want something different because we've all done the cliche pages over and over. I remember back when going to crops was a thing I'd see a lot of women that couldn't do a page unless the paper and embellishments exactly matched the theme in every way. I thought it was pretty limiting. There is no wrong way to scrapbook but that kind of narrow thinking didn't work for me. I do scrap by theme a lot but my themes tend to be broad unless it is a particular holiday. I'm more likely to pick out color schemes that work with the photos and then just add something on theme in an embellishment cluster. I did make a page about eating pretzels at the mall and an Amy Tan collection actually had pretzels and I felt a little "on the nose" but I was happy to have a use of one of her random icons. I use a lot of the old Basic Grey lines because the color schemes work with my photos and the lines were usually not tightly themed, except for holiday lines.

For me, scrapping is more of a crafty thing than being creative. I have fun with the simple tasks of cutting, pasting, and occasionally stamping. I mostly scrap events and I like to see finished pages. We go to a soccer game, I use soccer related items because it's easy.
My themes are based more on my life than a theme like you would see for girl. I think the last time I did a lot of pink, purple, and cute was when my daughter was maybe 11 or 12. We did go to a Broadway Disney Princess concert and I'm going to do cute overload on that one! Because again, I don't want to think. Just keep my hands busy!

I think people might purchase kits differently than other scrapbook supplies. I know for me, if I buy a kit from Scrapbook generations it’s generally for specific pictures. I might use more generic supplies on a layout I design for myself but when I buy kits I’m looking for something quick and easy.

I was recently looking for "Theater/Drama" themed embellishments/paper for pictures of my high school son in the class play. I was only able to find a small set of papers & embellishments at Scrap Your Trip but the cost of shipping turned me off buying anything. I see more embellishments for "Broadway" theater but just finding high-school drama type stuff was limited. Typically I find unusual or more off-beat themed things at the Scrapbook Expos & Conventions but since those have all been cancelled this year, I've been scouring sites and coming up mostly empty-handed. I have had the best luck at the Expos finding embellishments for many of the not so common themes for things my son enjoys like Pokemon, Lego, Video Games, Boy Scouts, Star Wars, Walking Dead, etc. I'm currently looking for some good 80's/90's themed paper & embellishments to use for the pics of my husband's 50th birthday - we did a 80's/90's theme & everyone dressed up. I ended up scrapping my son's play with some paper I already had & using the "drama masks" I found in the Silhouette store as my embellishment.

I'm not much of a theme scrapper and am accustomed to assembling my own words and phrases . However, I have all of my school years to scrap and I've just been waiting for some non-cute/juvenile products in non-primary colors to make the process faster and easier. I'm imagining words in a larger size that could be mixed and matched such as: favo(u)rite, least favo(u)rite, best, teacher, professor, TA, schedule, subject, class, first, last, day, project, assignment, experiment, lab, study, book, paper, fair, grade(s), year, dance, various subjects, etc.
I also participated in performance type activities--band, marching band, dance, drama, colorguard--so some generic type words for those would be great too:
practice, rehearsal, camp, 1-2-3-4 (band), 5-6-7-8 (dance/colorguard) and combine them both for colorguard/dance, which is how we counted the beats when learning routines without music, performance, field show, tournament, festival, competition, program, routine, drill, number, score, rating, place, mark, section, backstage, curtain, pit, on the bus, uniform, costume, set, script, theater, field, court, team, making progress, improvement/improved, behind the scenes, from the top, once more, fundraiser (ack, so many), -a-thon (ack, again, so many). I have found some band and colorguard papers and embellishments over the years that I've saved up, so I'm happy about those.

myboysnme Reminded me of my biggest peeve with school lines - the whole tired “A+ student” trope. Nerd, teachers pet, bookworm, etc. I have two kids with learning disabilities, on IEPs, frequent flyers in RSP, Speech Therapy, etc. I’d love a school theme with sentiments like “hardest worker”, “making progress”, or words along those lines. Some sort of nod to the extended support staff that have been instrumental in my kids’ school success - TA’s, therapists, etc. The journey through school for my two unconventional learners has been the most emotionally challenging, and it would be so helpful to have product that help support this stuff. Ditto that to Autism. Some incredible lines to celebrate nuerodiversity would probably make me cry. My kid is not represented by primary colored puzzle pieces. Yes, yes, yes for supplies to represent unconventional learners! I have a couple of them myself! At the end of last school year, my son's teacher posted e-awards to print at home. His said "Great Thinker" and didn't that just make my heart smile, because it recognized his effort without needing to quantify success by a predetermined metric.

Ella & Viv has a complete 80’s set. I did a page of my nephews at Dave & Busters with the "space invader" paper from that line. It turned out really cute. I have a few of the other pieces I haven't used yet. I was going to suggest Ella & Viv and Reminisce (same company) for some of the themes people mentioned. Some of their papers are photo realistic, which some people don't like, but I've really used a lot of their paper. I've ordered directly from the company before and it came quickly.

I'm curious as to what would be included in a "college age" line. I tried thinking of things that weren't specific to a specific school. I also tried to include ideas for people who didn't go to college or went to a trade school. Here are a few things I thought of.
Rent due First apartment Roommates Cooking disasters
Dirty hands Sick skills Tired feet
I had a hard time thinking of icons or images
A bill A paystub A phone Keys
Yeah that's all I got.
I'm also a bit baffled that there is no moving line. I know people move all the time. It's kind of a big milestone to not have its own collection

One theme I need more of in my scrappy life is Happy Hour!!
I also agree that there should be more college themed items. I am contemplating starting an ongoing album for college photos... but that sounds like a huge undertaking.

What's under-represented? Anything non-American! No football, no rugby, no cricket, no netball, not a lot of summer Christmas kits, school years not named correctly for Australia / UK / NZ, lots of mis-spelled words . I was pleasantly surprised to find a digital kit recently where they offered non-American spelling of Mum, and another school related kit where they offered Prep, Year 1, Year 12 instead of Kinder, 1st Grade, 12th Grade etc. This-very few summer Christmas collection and all the ones they have feature surfing and palm trees

I can never find enough variety for older kids that isn't full of skateboards, etc. Prom is also lacking and Golf & Cross Country is pretty limited.

And even though I am in Australia too we haven't called it Prep for ages- It's Reception for us in South Australia. As for Australian Christmas Paper I find Kaisercraft put out some suitable collections - love the one with emus and kangaroos and all the Australian plants. Although, sadly it seems like they are no longer selling collection packs any more. Corinne
