Hello Linda, gramma , Ren , ComplicatedLady , sleepingbooty, joblackford, teacherlisa, christinec68, CoffeeCrafterMelting into August here in Ontario, but I simply cannot believe how fast the summer is going. I say that every year because it is my favourite time of year. Not the extreme heat...but...I'll take it just for the ability to walk barefoot outside and see the explosion of life outside. Bugs and all This is "civic holiday", a very popular mid-summer holiday. But I'm working this weekend, so I'm heading out right now. I will NOT promise to be a "good" team member this month with productivity! Last month was awful - I think I completed 4 projects total. But I still love being on the team. I'm away mid August, but should pop onto the boards once/day anyways. Who else sees their scrapbooking productivity decline in the summer? Or are you the opposite? Who has August scrapbook plans, or adventure plans??? Please jump in and chat with us!

Hello Divas! I have good news regarding my adhesive: it's out of the French customs and on the way to me! After over 1 and a half month of waiting... I was about to contact SB.com to see whether they could replace the package. Like you, kitbop, my favourite season is summer. Dry and warm and - once upon a time - carefree! But I keep myself normally so busy during this time of the year with music festivals and travel that my creativity takes a serious nosedive. Not this year. This year is staycation galore and my sanity depends on keeping my hands busy. Can't wait to start my Pandemic Summer mini album (a lot of Netflix and food documenting )! So. Freakin'. Excited. Just hoping nothing goes wrong between Paris and here. I can finally craft again soon!

Thanks kitbopI'm honestly not sure how August will look - I mean, I have all the time in the world so should be able to get lots of scrapping done but that doesn't always happen. School start was delayed here from August 10th to the 13th and then the 24th for DD13 - she'll be starting virtually. DD20 is staying home this coming year and doing college online - she starts the 24th also. So we need to finish up the organising projects and get their school spaces set up.

Linda Time is but an abstract concept in 2020... Sounds like you have a couple of busy weeks ahead with organising the home for your daughters' home education centre. Are you enjoying having them back home? Will you be making a LO about setting up their school spaces set up?

Hi Divas!! Since I'm mostly a lurker who just jumped back in to the team challenges after an almost two year hiatus, I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Melissa and I live in southern California less than two miles (3 km) from Disneyland. I'm 56 years old (how did that happen?!) and divorced with no children. I work full-time (from home still for now) as a system administrator/software developer in the aerospace industry. Since I have no partner, children, or pets, I'm not much of a scrapbooker, but I absolutely love making cards and coloring frame sized images with Copic markers, colored pencils, etc. I have a blog where I post my card creations and I'm active on Instagram as well. I have links for both of those in my signature.
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you throughout the month!

sleepingbooty - probably not photos of the setting up process but my plan for back to school photos is one traditional photo (with a persnickety sign) and one photo of them at the desk/computer. I do love having them home but sometimes miss my peace and quiet. CoffeeCrafter - welcome back! I'm Linda, I'm a homemaker with three kids - DD13, DD20 (back in the nest for virtual college), and DS28 who is in the Navy.

kitbop I don't envy you all those bugs! So much of N.America seems to be very buggy all summer. That's one of the things I love about the PNW - summer is delightful and no more buggy than any other season. I like that it's just "civic holiday" like those British "bank holidays"? So weird. Hope you have a good day at work. sleepingbooty argh, I would go crazy waiting for adhesive so long! You poor thing. Crossing my fingers that it arrives very soon and that you ordered a LOT! Linda I guess you are sort of back to being like your tag - homeschoolmum... That must be a big adjustment, but after reading about how things are in your area (in the news and on one of the NSBR threads) it sounds like you're all better off at home. I love that you already know what kind of photos you plan to take and scrap for back to school. CoffeeCrafter I remember you from before. I love your cards. I am a card maker too, but I'm in a summer slump. Like everyone else on the planet this year has not panned out as expected. I was supposed to go home to NZ to visit my parents in mid-March, missed the borders closing by a couple of days, thank goodness, or I would've been stuck there for weeks (and would've probably committed some violent crimes against my loved ones). So I channeled some spring energy into crafting lots of cards to sell and to donate, and then into documenting this stupid pandemic. Now that things are a little looser most of my time is going to selling the collected collections of FIL on Fbk Marketplace - a multi-year Swedish Death Cleaning project. We're working on boxes, baskets, and bowls, and the rest of the maritime collection right now. Still selling the last of the brass and copper and lanterns too. ugh. Summer is my favorite, although all the seasons have a lot of goodness. But I love the sunshine and love to be warm, even if I bitch about not having AC and my house getting above 82F, at which point I melt onto the floor and moan... I have more garden stuff to do in the summer so that does cut into crafty time, but I have more energy and light in the summer so I guess it balances out. Hoping to keep up with the virus diaries better and get back to cards this month.

I love the sunshine and love to be warm, even if I bitch about not having AC and my house getting above 82F, at which point I melt onto the floor and moan... Fellow non-AC person here! *high five* Except the coolest we've had in the apartment since mid-June was for a few glorious early morning hours 27°C/81°F (shan't dare admit my toes were a bit cold). That was a one-off. Mostly now, it's still 31-32°C/88-90°F at midnight. Urban heat island effect, baby! Bring on the trees in the city, s'il vous plaît. And we haven't even opened our shutters since late June in an attempt to keep the sun and heat out. Needless to say, we sleep butt nekkid and only put on a top for video calls (or when cooking with olive oil, bwahaha). ETA: Welcome back/out of lurkdom, CoffeeCrafter. Hope there are none of those crazy California fires near your home right now! Glad you're playing along with cardmaking. If you are ever tempted to do some scrapbooking/documenting, don't hesitate. There are several of us who don't have children or live a regular life and still enjoy recording our everyday.

Like everyone else on the planet this year has not panned out as expected. I can definitely relate to that. My father had been fighting cancer for a couple of years and things weren't going well. He entered hospice in late March and passed away a few weeks later. Given my high-risk status for COVID, I wasn't able to make it back home to Tennessee for his funeral. It just made the whole crappiness of this year all the worse. Oh yes, I forgot to say CoffeeCrafter I have a spouse but no offspring, no pets any more either. I don't do traditional scrap pages but I do photobooks for distant family, and some smaller projects. But I'm also super self absorbed, wordy, and a shutterbug so... ;P This literally made me laugh out loud. Thanks, I definitely needed that today. <3

I fear a layout of my everyday would be quite boring -- get up, work, craft, play on the internet, go to bed, repeat.

Welcome back to the teams CoffeeCrafter! I'm so glad the card crafts are moving into the spotlight. There has been a definite shift in crafting, and it has allowed me to add to my stash in new ways I got a new ipad this year, and bought the pen to try colouring apps out. Not. the. same. Give me copics/prismacolours everytime! I'm so sorry you couldn't get to your Dad at the end. How covid adds to misery at so many levels. sleepingbooty - I ordered a shit tonne of adhesive right at the beginning of the lockdown. I felt that international mail was going to get messy ... linda - it's a little bit fun setting up new ways to make your home work for you, yes? We haven't heard about DS19's school (college) in the fall. I don't want him to try online learning - he might get OK grades, but he won't gain anything because our goals for him were to learn how to learn and be in a social atmosphere. DD16 (oops. DD17) will be in school part time. Again, I'm a little disappointed because her learning quality/quantity will suffer and she's a total academic. I'm not sure how to motivate her to go the extra mile at HOME. A new/better space, a learning space, might help both of them. Now, if only we had some space I could make that happen! joblackford - while I love the heat, I do also enjoy being able to sneak back into AC to get relief when it's humid out (and we're humid here). We only have 2 portable ACs, but that means we have 2 cool rooms: the kitchen, and our bedroom. I cannot sleep if I'm too hot! DD is the same and often sleeps on the floor of our room (and I can't say no because I know how she feels) OK, I came on to add a few more challenges for the month. I shouldn't - I did 5 already - but I'm definitely someone who likes a long list!!!

I got one of the smaller iPad Pros with the Apple Pencil. It just doesn't come close to coloring in the traditional way. Copics are definitely my preferred medium, but I do use colored pencils from time to time, too. Here's a piece I colored recently with Prismacolor pencils. https://www.instagram.com/p/CCzi5KfJTc4

Thanks! It's the first image I've ever colored without using something like Gamsol or baby oil to blend out the pencil. I just layered up the pencils on this one. I'm planning to send it to some Indian friends of mine who have two Disney-crazy little girls. I thought they might appreciate a Snow White that looks like them.

You’ll be pleased to know that I can now count the time I spend taking and editing photos for the Great Swedish Death Cleaning Project as organizing/other craft points (according to our fearless leader, grammadee). I did a photo shoot of vintage enamelware bowls today.

Hello Divas! I'm going to try to keep up here and the share thread this month. I am going to work on unfinished projects this month - I have a mini album that needs 3 pictures and some embellishing, a few random partially done layouts and page bases plus a big album project I started and never finished. I think it needs about 8-10 pages. If I can get through half of this, I'd be thrilled. kitbop - I hope you had a good day at work. I don't get as much scrapping done in the summer either. I keep getting better offers...LOL I'll go check out the new challenges you added. sleepingbooty - glad to see your adhesive is getting closer! linda - good luck setting up spaces for your DDs to work. CoffeeCrafter - Melissa it's nice to meet you!! I'm Christine - I live in NYC with my husband (no kids) and work in the finance dept of an importing company. I am primarily a scrapbooker but dabble in card making. I've been enjoying your cards in the share thread. Your friend's daughters will love your snow white! I am so very sorry about your father. joblackford - it sounds like you have delightful weather. I hate needing air conditioning but it's non-negotiable during the summers here. It's a shame you weren't able to go to NZ but I guess lucky in a way too. I got a hair cut last week and the one of the woman who works there has been in Taiwan (?) for months now with no idea when she'll be able to come back. Yay for other craft photo points!!

We have the heat on from late September to early May, but we only heat to 64F (old house, crap insulation) so we spend most of the year freezing our butts off and putting on another sweater. We probably only have a dozen or so really stinking hot days in the summer (July 5-Sept 1) so AC is definitely not the norm here. One window unit is about the most you get. Luckily our nights cool down so we can suck some cool air in with a window fan and sleep with light covers.

Hi! So I’m the outsider as I’m not in summer at all! I’m in Melbourne, Australia (as some of you know) which is in the depths of winter. Melbourne itself doesn’t get cold enough for snow, but we do get one or two days in the mountains nearby. Today was one of those days and I’d usually be up there squealing with excitement like a child except Melbourne has just been put into stage four lockdown to try and squash coronavirus. We are only allowed to leave our homes for essential stuff, business have been closed including physical retail that isn’t essential, businesses where people can’t work from home, and a lot of manufacturers have to run at reduced capacity to limit the amount of people. We’re also under an 8pm-5am curfew, and my 9 and 4.5 year old are remote learning... it was all announced over the past few days so I’m a bit weary.
However I now have plenty of time to get my scrapbook projects up to date! I’ve been working on my Week in the Life tonight, then my December daily needs completing, and then I need to figure out what to do with March - now project life.. originally I was going to do a separate album for lockdown but we’ve been under restrictions since March. The lifted briefly in June but then tightened again, so I think it’ll just all be in the one album.
Anyway I’m rambling! Nice to meet those of you I haven’t met before 😊

CoffeeCrafter Very sorry to hear of your parent's passing and under the present circumstances which make grieving so difficult. I hope the share creative play in here will offer some distraction as you navigate this hard year. joblackford Old, poorly insulated home "sufferers" unite! It gets so cold during winter. It dropped to 14°C/57°F with the heaters on in here last winter and we noped out for a night at the hotel. Can't wait to move out and into a better place. christinec68 I, too, need to get on with a mini album and will try to keep up with the chat + commenting threads. Let's see how poorly I'll do... kitbop The more challenges, the more chances to gain points... Ren I hope your lockdown situation is going well. We went through something very similar in March, April and May albeit no curfew (no people were out in the streets at night here from what I remember). I'm following your situation through Coronacast. I am currently updating my memory planner and trying to situate the exact date the Melbourne lockdown went into effect. Was it the 9th of July? Any news on it being prolonged? It was originally supposed to be 6 weeks/42 days if I'm not mistaken but with the struggles to get the numbers under control, I suppose it'll be longer. Do you have everything you need on the supermarket shelves or was there another Great Toilet Paper War?

Ren - Good luck with the stage 4 lock down. It sounds like you have quite a few projects lined for now, I can't wait to see them. A tropical storm came through this area today. I was scheduled to work in the office but I asked to WFH because I didn't want to get stuck by work if/when the trains went out of service. That happened around 3pm and are still not running. That's the big news. The old news is that work is super busy. I hope everyone has a great day/evening!

I, too, need to get on with a mini album and will try to keep up with the chat + commenting threads. Let's see how poorly I'll do... right? RIGHT? What is it that the first few days it's so easy to chat and I feel energized and inspired and then suddenly it will be August 31. Which is my DS's 22 birthday. Which is strange because he was only 6 last month. christinec68 - good choice on the WFH! Now I guess your city is in clean up mode. We've had some severe storms in our area in the past week (a few tornados) but they've skirted around our city. That's the big difference between tropical storms/hurricanes and tornados - tropical storms hit EVERYONE in a big area, tornado/thunderstorms can be so localized.

We have a buyer for FIL's vintage ship's wheel and the *12 foot long* wooden lifeboat oar with decorative knot-work on it! My very large mantel/fireplace wall is 12 feet long, the entire width of our living room, but having the oar here reminds me how small this house is, at least in comparison to the in-law's place. I'm excited to get it out the door soon. August by jo.blackford, on Flickr That's a peek at my makeshift photo studio (ironing board with fancy lights) that I use for my cards as well. The paper backdrop rolls up out of the way so I can actually see my bookshelves. I sold a basket, an enamelware pan that might've been used for sterilizing hospital tools, a brass pot for cooking over a fire, and a barometer these past couple of days. Between that and walking 6+ miles today I'm ready for my nap, but I was inspired by some stories on IG this morning that I want to record, and I have old maritime tchotchkes to photograph, so I better get back to work. One of these days I might even color some artwork for some cards!

Do you have everything you need on the supermarket shelves or was there another Great Toilet Paper War? So we went back to stage three restrictions on the 8th July for a six week period, but a few weeks in cases were still climbing due mainly to transmission in workplaces, so on Sunday 2 August, they put us in stage four from 6pm that day with the curfew, then as of today only permitted businesses are allowed to have staff on site and they all need permits so if they’re pulled over by the cops more than 5km from home they have a legit reason, these people are also allowed to be out in the curfew hours if their jobs mean they have to be. The rest of us are only allowed one hour of exercise a day, and only one person going out for food and supplies once a day. I hope it works. We also have mandatory mask wearing and you’ll be fined if you’re caught without one.

kitbop - I'm the same way with keeping up here. I am going to try to pop in every night real quick. It's much easier to read a handful of posts than a handful of pages. Yes...it's a mess around here. A lot of people lost power and tons of down trees so lots of clean up. We were lucky and didn't lose power or anything severe. I'm glad your city was spared tornadoes. joblackford - way to go getting that oar out of your house and all that other stuff. I think I would need to sit still for a long while after walking 6 miles. ha! @theredren - Stage 4 is super strict! I hope it helps get your numbers back down. Tonight was the season premier of Big Brother - it's my favorite summer guilty pleasure tv show. I didn't think it wold be on this year because of Covid but they put a ton of health and safety measures in place, had the potential house guests & crew members quarantine for 2 weeks and moved them in tonight. Have a great night/day!

Hello Divas! I hope you all had a nice weekend.
Mine was pretty low key. My husband & I went out on Friday for happy hour but other than that it was a pretty quiet weekend.
I'm trying to finish up this mini-album I started at Bella Blvd's She Loves Color event from a few years ago. It's so weird because it was billed as "Home" themed but we got Simple Stories Carpe Diem papers & stickers which is for planners and letter stickers that don't match. Of course I can use my own stuff and I will, but it annoys & frustrates make that it's hard to make this work with the materials we received (and technically paid for). I have to order two larger format pics, which I should do now while I mess around with the rest of it...I'm really close and want to get it finished this week.

My weekend flew by. I am starting the prep for our camping trip, so there was shopping and cooking and general "gathering" and list making. This week is going to be a gong show. The more I know needs to be done right now, the more I turtle! christinec68, that would SO annoy me to get awkward supplies for a concept project! And, if it was Bella Blvd, why did you get SS supplies? That's strange too! Regarding covid "levels" - here, stage 3 is OPENING UP, stage 4 would open rock concerts and other big close contact gatherings. So our way of counting stages is opposite!
