Hello angel97701 , nylene , natscraps , KikiPea , gmcwife1 , azcrafty , AussieMeg , grammadee , schroema , and Ryann , welcome to team Joyful! I hope to have a more productive month now that work is slowing down a bit and then getting ready for sketchember. Hosting a hangout on Sunday mornings is definitely helping with that! Now I need to be planning better for it through the week lol. I'm working on random photos, mostly some older ones this month. Anyone working on a big project, or staying current? Oops! Posted to the wrong board. Can you please move this grammadee ?

Moved it, joyfulnana. I have grandkids here at the farm this week, and the veggie garden is being a task master. The only scrappy task I will do this week between picking, preserving, and spending some time photographing the girls enjoying themselves, is work with the girls to return pages to my albums. Hope to have lots of pics to print on Sunday, and scrap next week.

Hi 👋 I’m hoping for a more productive month as well. I’m off to a good start-7 layouts over the weekend. I wasn’t really feeling it, but once I sat down I got into a groove.
I go back to work (preschool aide) in two weeks so we’ll see how my creativity does then.

Happy August everyone!
Well with stage 4 restrictions being put in place yesterday, I'm not allowed to leave the house except to exercise and grocery shop (not more than one hour for each), so I'll probably have a bit more scrapping time for the next 6 weeks.

I always get a bit envious of people that are on lockdown and not working. I want some extra time! And yet, very grateful that I haven't been impacted financially by all of this. I'm sorry you guys are back on lockdown. I'm getting a bit tired of being home so much, but not ready to risk going into the world too much either lol. Enjoy the extra time you have from no commute!

How’s it going? I worked for a few hours today. Yuck. And have housework and errands to do. I have several photos matched up with sketches. Hoping to get paper pulled to go with them.
I am getting itchy to get out and do things. But my city is on the watch list and the state will probably be a hot spot soon. So I guess I will continue to stay put for a while longer 😕

This month should be pretty good for me. I decided to go back to my DB and DSIL’s house in Vegas next week. I have a credit from our canceled flight in March, and she didn’t get enough scrappy time with me! I’m a bit nervous, but hoping everything goes smoothly, and we all stay well. I should be able to get some scrapping done!

Augh! Our county is opening up a bit more, but the governor is making all schools open as virtual . . . which is NOT going to work for my kiddo. SpEd and behind in grade level, needs the one on one and interaction IRL.
The last week we drove 6 hours to Tacoma, WA to take FIL to his sister's funeral. We had FIL, MIL and FIL's cousin (all in 80 or so) plus DH, DS14 and myself in the motor home. We spent good time with family, and hopefully we didn't bring any COVID home. FIL & MIL plan to get tested within the week. It was good to see family, and DS spent a lot of time in the pool at his Great Uncle's house on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then he got food poisoning, probably from something that had been left out while we were there. No one else got it, and it wasn't COVID related at all. He's better, but it took about 2 days. DH has a pinched nerve in his neck and is in a great deal of pain. The Chiropractor helped some last Thursday, but he was in the morning and goes back tomorrow morning.
I'm fixing irrigation and waiting for my garden to produce things like tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, and squash. The carrots are looking great as are the potatoes and lettuce. Anyone need fresh lettuce?
No scrapping for me yet, and now I have another sympathy card to make for a former co-worker, his FIL passed suddenly last Monday.
DS14 is home now almost 4 weeks. He's doing relatively well, and it is good that he has a mentor friend he sees several times a week (per permission of his family). Small pods of contact. Right now they are building rockets (air powered), and RC planes from plans from Flight Test. Good things for boys to do. I need to get to my other business related chores!

KikiPea stay safe! I'm still so on the fence about venturing out into the world again lol. angel97701 I'm so sorry for you losses. I don't envy school districts, or parents of school age parents right now. It's so hard to know what the right thing is to do. I'm glad your son is doing well! My DGS hasn't seen his cousins since March, and I know he misses them. I feel so bad for the kids right now. But his parents are being quite cautious and his cousins parents, eh, not so cautious. I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said "Giant meteor - just end 2020 now!" I totally relate to that. It's so weird how time is working this year. It's going by fairly quickly and yet it's lasted 10 years too.

Good morning, Joyful Scrappers! I am in my craftroom and have a couple of pages kind of laid out, but after a couple of weeks of not scrapping, it takes a bit of time to get back into the flow. But I will. Honest. I will. joyfulnana, I can't believe you told me on another thread to "get to work"! So sorry to hear you are moving back into all those restrictions, AussieMeg! What a let down after your country was doing so WELL. I hope you can spend your extra time scrapping, but I am thinking it will be hard with everyone working and schooling from home. angel97701, my dd has the choice to send her hyperactive 7-yr-0ld kid to school or to keep him at home, and she has weighed the choices very thoroughly. He NEEDS the interaction with teacher and classmates, yet he can't really be trusted to keep his hands on only his own stuff, or to keep a mask on his face. And the district laid off all the TA's last spring when the kids were sent home in March, and are not planning to hire them back this fall. She had almost decided on home schooling until she found out their school district's plan was to have different teachers from different schools teach each of the core courses for one hour per day (so basically 5 hours a day on line with teachers he has never met in person). So she has decided to have him attend in person. She will drive him to avoid the bus. Right now there are ZERO cases in their area, but if someone in his class tests positive and everyone is sent home, she thinks at least then he will have spent time with the teacher and will be able to interact with her from home. There was hopeful news about vaccines on the news this weekend. PLEASE let it work out... I will feel guilty posting my August pages. My ds dropped two of his girls off here on the 2nd and I took them back to him on the 10th, and dd and dgs joined us here on the farm on the 6th, so these kids had cousin time, and we got some grandkid time. They had to stay here at the farm, so no adventures except a trip to a local lake for kayaking one day, and they were the only kids on the beach. It was so wonderful to see them enjoying board games, picking berries, playing on the playpark in our back yard, all those things that might have seemed boring if there were alternatives, but they really had FUN here. Okay, enough delaying... as joyfulnana says, I have to GET BACK TO WORK!

@grandmadee. Yes I did lol. I need to get to work too, on something other than my actual job lol. I only need journaling on the 2 pager I worked on this past Sunday but I can't seem to get myself to finish that. I have pictures pulled and am looking for sketches to go along with them. grammadee don't feel guilty, I'm so happy your family is finally getting to spend time together. If the cases weren't spiking in this area I would have seen mine too. The thing that is hindering me the most right now is the shortened store hours. I work until 7PM and all the stores close shortly after. Which means pushing all the shopping and errands to the weekend. I don't like that. I used to take care of things during the week so I could play on the weekend lol. In the Sunday crop msliz was talking about how much she likes HS Art Walk. I hadn't looked at it, and it's beautiful! The project pad is now on it's way to me lol. It's so much easier to find time to buy supplies than to use them! And I have so many project ideas that I get a little overwhelmed with what to do first.

Hi all! I wanted to pop in to say hello. August has been a doozy. DH had surgery earlier in the week. The AC decided to go out last week and our appt. to replace it isn't until the 28th (it's 96 degrees here today, with 100 degrees in the days to come), so not feeling particularly creative right now. Shopping has been my stress relief, so lots of new toys to play with once things stabilize a bit here. I did get a few pages done last week when it was "only" in the 80s inside the house. Oof! DH is home from work through at least next Friday, so I likely won't be around much until after then. I hope everyone is doing well (or at least better).

Good Saturday morning, JOYFUL's! Hope you all have a scrappy weekend. Dh and I will be away the next couple of days, so I won't be crafting until at least Tuesday. Hoping to come home with some photos from the lake, but I already have a bunch just waiting to be scrapped. Also hoping to pick up a package from the LSS on my way home, but I also have a "few" supplies here to play with. Next weekend is the ScrapSmarter on line event, so I hope to get alot of things done then. I have completed 7 pages and 4 cards this month, plus have done some album organizing, but have not calculated any points yet. I hate when that happens, but that's just the way it is... TTYL

Oh man Ryann! That sucks! I wouldn't feel creative at all if it were me. I hope your DH is doing well after surgery! I have done a ton of shopping since March. I wish I would use it as fast as I can buy it lol. grammadee wow! You are always so productive! I'll bet Scrap Smarter is going to be a blast! I'm choosing sketches for Sketchtember and hoping to pop in on the last Saturday night crop of the summer.

Our internet, phone and TV have now been on for 24 hours without any blips. I hope this means Comcast has really fixed it. It has only taken 14 calls, 2 repairmen outside the house for 3 hrs each time, and at least one repairman on the street behind us. It has been misbehaving since Aug 5th. Ryann , I am so sorry about your AC and I hope your husband is recovering well. I hope they can get it fixed on the day they promised. It is supposed to get up to 105 here this week. Without air it would be terrible. Two of my DD's have just had to replace A/C and furnace within the past couple of weeks. Hugs to you as you swelter until the 28th. joyfulnana , thanks for hosting this Team. I hope you get some scrappy time. I wish I could have joined the Hangouts last night. I was communicating with the kids to make sure all the Genius Projects are finished and ready for our Zoom Cousin Camp tonight. I have seen one and have photos of 2 others. I'm anxious to see them all. I have moms taking photos for me. Did you get some scrapping done at the Hangouts? grammadee , best wishes for a great getaway for your Anniversary. Is this 52 or 53? I know you and Elayne and I were all married about the same time. Waving hello to all the Team Joyful Scrappers this month!

Yay to working Internet nylene! I go bonkers without it. That's a lot of time and work on Comcast's part, must have been some major stuff going on. I can't wait to hear about cousin camp! AussieMeg how are you guys doing with the lockdowns and resurgence? Are the cases tapering off again? Now that people here are starting to get back to "more normal" I realized how very very little my life had changed during the quarantine. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing lol. I got my first LO for Sketchtember finished today. I really want to have them all ready to go beforehand. I've been averaging about a LO a week now that I've committed to hosting a crop. It's been really nice having time to scrap baked into my schedule. I hope everyone is have a great weekend!

There will more than likely be no scrapping for me this month. I wracked up a few cleaning/organizing points yesterday but only because my curriculum stuff is about to take over my scrap room. I loathe August. It’s like one really long Sunday night. So much to get done but so tired and not enough hours in the day. One of these days I’ll have hopefully have the time to keep up more with the chit chat.

joyfulnana, I forgot that September was Sketchtember. I look forward to seeing what you have made. I struggle with sketches because I scrap 8.5x11 and most are 12x12 and I seldom do double pages. Last year I found that I could alter a lot of the sketches and just make them smaller. Linda does that so well when she alters sketches. I just need to practice. Internet is still on and Cousin Camp was really fun with the kids. We had 8 cousins on Zoom together. They made some really fun things with their Genius kits, and each showed a talent. It's not as good as having them where I can hug them, but better than nothing in the time of Covid. natscraps, are you a teacher?

@natsraps organization points count too! Are you teaching virtually to start the year? nylene Linda is go Good at altering the sketches isn't she? At least two of my sketches are 8.5x11 this month. I still toy with the idea of going back to that size. I never had any intention of going 12x12 until I joined the SG kit club eons ago. But lately I'm really drawn to smaller size sketches. So glad to hear cousins camp went well! It sounds like as much fun as usual, but just different. I'm so glad you got to 'see' everyone and I can't wait to see how you scrap it! Ryann I hope you're hanging in there! Has there been a break in the heat?

Hello Ladies. I finally added up my points, so I am up to date. Not sure if I will actually "accomplish" anything with Scrap Smarter, but it is fun to learn new things. I had trouble getting the sound to work on my ipad, got that fixed with some help, and still need to figure out the chat function on Zoom. People are so fast on the chats, and the messages kind of fly by the top of my screen. By the time I think of something to say, the topic has moved on LOL. The first class tomorrow doesn't start until 10:00AM so I may be able to put something together on my scrapdesk before then. He is teaching a mini album, which I won't be doing, but his supply list includes some pet papers, so I think i might start a doggie page, and then maybe pick up some ideas for embellishments during the class. Good luck with your academic plan, natscraps. So hard, especially this year, to figure out what everyone will need.

Hey, Ladies, how ya doin'?
I have been having fun scrapping one week in August. Almost caught up with calculating my points. I really don't recommend leaving that to the end...
BTW, how did I miss on the first marathon counting spree that CAMERAs were the icon of the month??? I have a brand new--arrived in June with an order of paper packs--camera punch! Hadn't even taken it out of its package until a few days ago! Now there will be at least one camera on every page I finish here on out to the end of the month, which is--YIKES!!!--4 days away!!!

Where has this month gone? I have accomplished very little in scrapping. I'm still debating about joining the Team in September. I'm a bit out of mojo and I struggle with sketches since my pages are smaller. I have made more cards than pages lately. I have loved the Sheetload challenges on the Cards board. I look forward to the Sept Sheetload.
I hope you all have a great weekend.

nylene , trying to work with sketches is why I finally ended up switching to 12x12. I had always planned to stay an 8.5x11 scrapper, but I also like starting with a sketch. It's hard to scale them down for me even though I love the smaller page size. I finally caved and switched to 12x12 lol. But at least 2 of my sketches next month are 8.5x11. grammadee and KikiPea I'm really enjoying watching what you have been doing with all the mixed media lately! I can't believe this month is over already. I got 4 LO's done which is a pretty big deal for me. I haven't been so excited to scrap since the very beginning. I hope it lasts! I'm still trying to catch up on the sharing thread. Rudy is here and still sleeping. I go up extra early so I could have coffee and wake up myself before he did lol. I totally forgot that I set a no spend challenge this month and have done more shopping than I should have lol. I think I will give it another try for September!

nylene, I hope you decide to sign up for September, even if you do just a few of the sketches. In fact I hope ALL of you who haven't yet signed up, just DO it! Doesn't matter if you create 30 projects for the bonus or ONE page you really like. Whether you are making cards and never even LOOK at the sketches, that works, too. I agree, time is moving WAY too fast! Life is short: we have to have some FUN, right? And joyfulnana, I read your Frozen Peas challenge over several times, and it says to count 10 points for every day you DON'T spend. The other challenge says you can count one point for every dollar you DO spend. So the best of both worlds! You can count your spending the days you DO and grab ten points for every day you DON'T.

So hello everyone! Last day of the month, and I can say it was a busy one with no crafting in sight, or did I make sympathy cards earlier in the month? I've not even done Bible Journaling or yoga this month. It started with the trip to Tacoma to take the Grandparents to the service for Gpa's sister. Moved on to watching DS14 as he reintegrated to the family and routines. His buddy was a great blessing and was here often. Sadly his Dad moved him to Iowa for the school year . . . long story, broken marriage invovle . . . but DS's buddy is now gone. We did take them kite surfing 2 weeks ago, and they had a blast. Over this weekend we went to see my parents (2.5 hours away) at DS's request. Taking care of the acreage (irrigation), my garden, handling the finishing touches on the remodel due to the water leak, etc. has just filled my days! I am also working on DS's new IEP request with the attorney. We had a phone meeting last week, and she asked some really good questions. Hopefully that will be this week vis Zoom or WebEx. We've also decided to refinance our home, so that's another task of several hours to tackle. DH still has a pinched nerve in his neck effecting his upper back, makes him a little grumpy. I'm dealing with an infected finger from a cut acquired from dogs pulling to hard on their leashes after a little rat dog 10 days ago. It turned into a granuloma, so I so a hand specialist to make sure it would heal properly.
Sorry I've not been crafty, but the mojo is just missing with focus on DS after his wilderness treatment and dealing with keeping him on track!

Sounds like an incredibly busy month, angel97701 . Hoping all goes well with your ds's schooling. So sad for him that his buddy needs to move away. Will they be able to communicate with each other on line? It gives my (much younger) dgs with separation anxiety great comfort to chat on the phone or face time with guys he hasn't seen for over a year yet still are his friends. I am done crafting for August. I have added up my crafty my points, but hoping to add a few more today as I attempt to clean up some of the mess I made while I was having fun! I should be outside in the garden, but I am waiting for a call back from my TV provider. One of our receivers is acting wonky and although I was on hold last night for 2 1/2 hours, and attempting to "chat" on line for the same time, I received no help. So much for 24/7 "we care about you" ad's I kept hearing over and OVER while I waited... Today they offered the call back, so I am staying close to the phone.
Glad you signed up for September, nylene. Hoping everyone else has too. Ten more hours and then I am closing off the sign ups and launching SKETCHtember!

You are not alone angel97701 ! We're also in the middle of a refi and the lack of communication has been maddening. I'm looking forward to September and hope it's a bit more stable for everyone! I posted my last project for the month. My final points have been tallied and posted in the August points thread. Not 100% sure what SKETCHtember is grammadee , but it sounds fun! I look forward to participating in whatever you've got going on!!
