I get mine at Nordstrom's (32F or 32DDD). They have quite a few of them. Now that I have my size I find what I like--usually Chantelles. I then find a sales person to check in back for my size. Nordstrom's keeps a lot of back stock.

I have been quite boobalicious over the years. I remember well the horror of bra shopping. But that ended for me once I started shopping at Lane Bryant exclusively. I have slept in them, breast fed in them, you name it. I use the non-wire Cacique for everyday and sleeping and the Balconnette for when I need to be front and center for lower necklines. A good bra makes all the difference in the shape of an outfit and sometimes how you feel about yourself. I used to balk at paying a lot for a bra but mine last a long time and really fit all my needs, even though I have to travel out of state to get them.

I got a professional fitting years ago after reading a thread about it. WOW... what a difference! I definitely would have been happier in high school had I known what a properly fitting bra could do for your figure. LOL
The shop where I'd gotten the fitting done is closed now and I haven't been able to find a replacement. I was thinking of going to Nordstrom but in the same mall is also a SOMA. I am really happy both got the pea approval and I'm actually looking forward to buying some new bras.

I went to a scrapbook convention and there was a rep named Joy Miller 'the bra lady' from Essential Bodywear www.essentialbodywear.com/She fitted me for a bra and it was amazing the difference. I ordered 3 with no wire - the one called the Jacqueline. The only issue I have is that I have 2 different sized breasts and I actually sent back the one she fitted me for and got one size different. I shouldn't have. I should have just kept the one I was sized for. However, they keep their shape as I have had the 3 for about 3 years already. They do bother me at the end of the day, but that's because I gained a bit and so they don't fit as well of course.

I went to get fitted years ago after being pregnant or nursing for six years straight. The woman with the glasses on a chain, tape measure around the neck, takes one look at me and tells me there is nothing to be done about the difference in size. She thought it was glaringly obvious and I'd never noticed. Made me very self conscious I'm sooo sorry that happened to you! It just tears something in your soul, doesn't it? If you haven't already, I would encourage you to try again. I've run into one of those, also, but I think the majority of fitters are knowledgeable, professional, and kind.

I had a sizing done at Soma since losing almost 50 lbs. she said I was a 36DDD/G. I still to this day have not found one good bra that fits correctly. SO annoying. I will have one again when I hit my goal weight and cross my fingers that it's easier then.

I totally need to get fitted, but I know I'm really lopsided. Money is very tight, and I have a hard time justifying spending $50 on a bra that no matter what is only going to fit one side.

I used the video a few months back, bought a Wacoal and it fits perfectly, first time ever.

I wore my Lululemon Tata tamer and it is the right bandwidth and cup size except it's way too small. We are talking not enough bra and the next size up or cup is way too bag. If I find one with a tag on it I will rak someone one of them. How's that?

When I was young and developed I needed a bra with wire but refused to wear one. Now I love wire. I had a boyfriend when I was about 30? and he used to call me after work every single day to make sure I had taken my bra off as soon as I walked in the door. His mother had died of breast cancer and he was obsessed with me not wearing a bra with wire a moment longer than necessary. What is it about the wire?

Underwire was what old women wore. And bras did not need to come in ugly beige when you are 14 years old. They were so ugly. My friends who were just developing had pink frilly bras. I had to wear something my grandmother would wear.
Now if the bra doesn't have wire I won't look at it. It is the most comfortable thing going!!!

Underwire is great. And if you look you can find "youthful" bras in fun colors with underwire. I took DD to be fitted and was amazed when it was a 32DD. She's got an athletic build, a little busty but not huge on top (to me). We had her fitted at 3 different stores and then she tried on tons of bras. The 32DD fits her and looks nice. In JC Penney (B&M) there were not a lot of non-beige options, but we went online and found quite a few in fun colors and patterns. She is so much happier and comfortable now.

Most stores don't carry many DD's, so if you are bigger than that according to the charts, are you stuck Paying an arm and a leg at a specialty store? I wear a 34 F and I can find bras at Nordstrom but the Chantelles that fit me best are $75 each. One technique to keep your costs down is to get the fitting at the store, buy the one that fits best and after you wear it awhile, if you like it then go online and search for that brand/style and you can find them cheaper/on sale/with an internet coupon at places like herroom.com or other lingerie shops online. Same bra, fitted to you, but less expensive than the brick and mortar store. I did this when I lived overseas because I had no other choice. I'd been fitted right before we left and while we were on our remote duty station, I replaced my bras with internet shopping. This is what I do too. I love my Chantelle bras, but definitely not the Nordstrom price tags! I'm a 34D and have a hard time finding sports bras that fit well and don't have a racerback. I'm not sure what that's about. Also, why do the good fitting bras in D and up all have to have such wide straps? It limits my clothing choices. If I want to wear a sleeveless shirt or tank style dress, I end up wearing a so-so fitting push-up bra from VS just because it has spaghetti straps.

When I am thin I wear a 36D and when I am heavier I am a 36DD. I can't explain that but it is what it is.
I took a picture in a bathing suit...I had to admit it looked like what people are doing to themselves who desperately WANT boobs. I did look good in the bathing suit top LOL. But smaller is definitely nicer LOL.

This is a great video on how to size a bra: Super helpful. Thanks a bunch for posting that.

I agree with everyone who said get fitted - I did mine at JC Penny with the elderly lady who had the glasses on a chain. Her bosom also looked fantastic under her clothes. Her advice was to get re-fitted if I gained or lost more than 10 lbs. I've lost 10 lbs and I am not noticing a difference in how things fit or look, but it's probably not bad advice.
Also, I won't keep a bra longer than a year and usually rotate in one or two new ones at six months. I had get over how much they cost and come to terms with the fact that a) spandex and elastic do eventually stretch out, b) I'm happy to hang dry but I'm never gonna be a consistent hand-washer and c) this is an undergarment I wear everyday. Everyday. Of course it's gonna cost more, but if I pay $60.00 for a bra that I wear 182 days a year, that means it cost me $0.33 per wear. I have dresses, blouses and jeans that are far less cost-effective. I have shoes that are the equivalent of a very nice car under that standard. Why would I not buy myself and the girls a good bra? So, I will add to this thread that I think you should buy the best you can afford.
