It is such a pain! But I do it. I gotta look at brands, prices, price per unit, carb count, sugar count and which way to go! Its almost too much for my poor little brain.

My guess is they are trying to limit the face-to-face interaction...if people are walking in the same direction there should be less of that. That’s exactly the point. The downfall in the equation is the amount of asshole people that exist. Let me clarify, all the carts are headed in the same direction, so people are following the one way rules, but many times they are side by side grabbing items from either side of the aisle, or there are people walking who shop without a cart. Not being assholes, just shopping in crowded aisles, so no point in having one way destinations.

I do not disagree with you. But -- I totally hate the one way lanes in the stores. Frankly, I'm not looking at the floor when I'm shopping and I do not troll EACH lane -- I look at the signs for what I need, then go get it! I do not understand how one lane store lanes helps -- in my experience, people stay pretty "distanced" anyway -- and since I'm often just looking for one thing, I'm ready to pass everyone once I get it. Or I'm searching the shelf for what I want and people are passing behind me. What difference does a one way aisle make?

Definitely E
At my store, there are giant signs at the end of each aisle and giant arrows on the floor. There’s also an overhead message every 30 seconds or so announcing the one-way aisles. I can’t understand how people could be confused. I say something to each and every person walking the wrong direction towards me because it’s honestly unacceptable.

I find myself giving these people dirty looks....then I remember I’m wearing a mask and no one can see me judging them 🤦🏻♀️ I need to start packing my angry eyes but between the mask, hand sanitizer, reusable bags, etc I’d never remember.

I have done curbside or delivery for all but 3 of my grocery purchases since March. I must confess, the first time I went to Costco after the shutdown I wasn’t paying close attention and went the wrong way down an aisle. I was wearing a mask and I tried to observe the arrows better for the remainder of my shopping trip. But, there was a moment when a few people looked at me like I was a moron before I wondered why and saw that I was going the wrong way. 🤦♀️

So dh does most of the shopping for our house right now. However, today I was in a town with Walmart so I quickly went in to get the last school supply item that I couldn’t do online. So shopping under the “new norm” is not something I do often. Picked up a few other items and I didn’t grab a basket so I was trying to balance all the items on the binder. While there I wanted to see if they had any hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes. I went down the aisle (the correct way)for hand sanitizer and it was out. At that time a few of my items fell to the floor so I picked them up and after all that I turned back down and went out the aisle the same way I came in. Unfortunately someone else was going down the same time and I got a glare. It was truly an accident. I wasn’t meaning to be entitled, not giving a damn or an asshole. FTR I had my mask on properly and I think people look like idiots with their nose dickys.
I wish everyone would just issue a little more grace towards people and understanding that we are all trying to get used to the new way of shopping and sometimes in a moment of being flustered by items falling to the ground, etc they forget. Instead I feel people are being judgy and self righteous. (This is not directed at OP but at the bitch that glared at me today). Idk I guess I just show empathy and assume everyone is trying to do their best.

E.
I'm fascinated with the mask beneath the nose thing. After realizing it makes no logical reason for people to wear a mask and spread their germs, I've come to this conclusion: the nose exposers are just waiting for someone to approach them and ask that they put their mask on properly. This is a signal to the offender to act like an ill-tempered 13 year old and say, "What? I'm wearing a mask!"

I vote F, for Freakin’ dumb. DH showed me a video on Facebook of some guy who went into a store that had a mask requirement wearing a metal mesh face mask, like maybe someone would wear to protect their face in a contact sport. The gist of his comments was that it was a mask and nobody in the store told him it didn’t comply and that he was fully aware that it wouldn’t stop anything from coming out of his nose or mouth going into the air and his point was that the mask restrictions were stupid. The bottom line was he was just being an asshole.

I’m not particularly a fan of them myself, they cause more stress and congestion when only some people are utilizing them. I’m mostly surprised at the amount of people that are walking around oblivious to the fact that life (for now) has changed. I’m not talking about people that know, and forget - we’ve all done that - I’m talking about the willful going on as if nothing has changed and the world still revolves around you.

It’s is true that once you’re in an aisle, if you have to back up in that same aisle it’s a complete pain to go backwards, and frustrating to go around and re-enter. I certainly think grace is called for there. I feel like mask wearing helps as much so I’m just happy to see other people wearing them, period. But if I’m going around the store, and I run into you (general you) coming back up the aisle at me every. single. time. I might be aggravated enough to glare the 10th time it happens. 😂

I wear a mask. All I do in Walmart is walk around in circles. I try to follow the arrows but I really don't want to spend more time in the store than I need to. I just keep a distance.

I don’t believe I’ve seen directional arrows in any of the grocery stores here - but like you, I’ve mostly been using curbside. I could easily absentmindedly wander the wrong way down an aisle, particularly if I’m nervous about too many people around. But it’s also quite easy to imagine folks who won’t wear a mask and also won’t be told which direction to travel down a grocery aisle, just to prove some stupid point.

My local Meijer put in those one way arrows. Most of them are gone now. When they were first put in, I noticed that people who did not wear a mask were the ones that were ignoring the signs the most. Some were even laughing and commenting on it, saying things like "ohh, they better kick me out" or "are they going to ticket me for going the wrong way." When the mask mandate first went into effect, I wore one to the store and heard a few mocking comments.
Now very little comments about masks other than in small gatherings (one person told me she doesn't believe in them but will I make a couple for her?) The one way signs are largely gone so I can't always tell which way I should be going but I try. I avoid one store because it's way busier than I'm comfortable with.

I'm the asshole who went down the wrong way in the aisles in Aldi the other day. I was wearing a mask like I always do, but had forgotten an item and couldn't figure out how to get back to where I needed to be while following arrows (I didn't even notice they HAD arrows until I was halfway through the store). I suppose I could have checked out and gone back into the store to buy my forgotten item...

LOL Like I said I don't go in to the stores very often so when I do I am saying in my head over and over watch the arrows, watch the arrows. That momentary distraction interrupted that thought.

I wear a mask when out and constantly am going the wrong way in the aisles. I just don't think about when shopping. I have the order I like to shop in and the one way aisles don't match that. I don't think I am intentionally any of those things except maybe ignorant of the one way, but again, not intentionally.
I have also seen plenty of people going the correct way in the aisles wearing masks incorrectly, so it goes both ways.

I understand if you haven't been in that store you might not know about the one-way aisles, but when you look down and see the 2 foot circle with the big W R O N G W A Y and the huge red X and then STILL decide that it's fine for them to go that way.... well, I'm judging. Especially if you have kids that can read, what a great role model you are. (whispering "asshole" under my breath) I have parked my cart at the end of an aisle or 2 and taken one or two steps down the aisle to pick up one thing I needed.

I never notice the arrows on the floor. They’re just not in my field of vision. I have to remind myself every time I go into the grocery store (once every 2-3 weeks) to look out for the arrows. Our Costco doesn’t have any.

I forget and go down the wrong aisles sometimes. If I see something on the aisle I need, I have been known to back down it......
