Good morning. Today is infusion day. Apart from that it's an exciting day of chores and puzzles and being at home. Dinner is takeout per ods.
What's on your menu?
jeremysgirl, I started reading your other thread. I'm so proud of your ds. I have a burning question. Does this mean that you get your craft room back? He's made such great strides. WTG!
Have a peaceful, happy day, my friends.

I met up with a friend today to visit a local yarn store. I bought a really nice pattern, but not the yarn they recommended - it would have cost nearly €300 for my size! I know I am at the top end of the size range, but even in the smallest size, it would have been over €200! I am sure I will find something more in my price range somewhere else - I remembered why I don’t shop there very often. We got some good news this morning. Our little Sophia now has a baby cousin - a little girl born Sunday afternoon. Her dad is my DiL’s younger brother and they live only a couple of suburbs over, so the two little girls will grow up together.
Dinner tonight is chicken curry. With our weather deciding to be winter again for a few days, we are having a break from grill and salad. Not sure what sort of curry - I need to look in the pantry and see what curry pastes I have available to me.

Pineapple & beef of some kind
I have a not so ripe pine apple to use up plus ground beef so I’m looking at various recipes involving those. There are several sweet & sour or Hawaiian beef recipes online I just have to find one DD is willing to try and that will be dinner

Late lunch with a friend after our annual "boob squeeze". Precautions in place and apparently we cannot stay for results which is fine. Before my breast reduction 10 years ago, I always had to have more pics taken.
Not sure where we will go..maybe Red Robin, maybe Pi Craft (you 'make' your own pizza) or Carabbas. Our inside seating is still at 50% and we'd eat outside but it's raining.

I was thinking of going to Costco today but I just don't have the energy ... maybe tomorrow I'm just going to hang out and watch TV ... like a sloth I had rechauffe pizza last night so tonight will probably be the coconut shrimp that I love

Raining here again which makes me feel sluggish. Hopefully it ends soon. Saw the bats the other night flying around our house but we didn’t see where they exited from. I’m panicked they’re going to get down in the main house and bite me when I pee in the middle of the night. Probably making shrimp tacos or shrimp with pasta, kale & lemon. I have the stuff for both. jeremysgirl I’m just so happy for your son.

Bratwurst with onions and peppers on a bun is what the menu says but Dh is on holidays this week. He was supposed to be golfing but it is raining so he just texted me that he is making chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes and peas. A weird combo IMO but I don't have to make so its all good.

teddyw , we have bats and have yet to be bitten. I cringe when I see them flying overhead. Great meme, cadoodlebug and so very true. christine58 , wishing you a normal, boring result. Enjoy lunch w/your friend.

teddyw, I hate bats! They really scare me. I grew up in an old house and would have one every so often. Ick! sueg, that's some expensive yarn. Are they spinning gold?😅 Do and I are traveling two hours to visit some sunflower fields. There is a family that plants them for people to enjoy. Thanks to social media, we know about them. Should be fun. We'll eat someplace on our travels.

scrapmaven, it's looking like I am getting my craft room back. I honestly have been so preoccupied with thoughts about DS and DD this morning that I haven't given a single thought to the craft room. But it would be nice. My DD was quite angry this morning when she heard her brother's news. She yelled at me pretty good about how I babied him (I didn't, she's always been the squeaky wheel and if anything he got ignored for her bigger fires), how he'll be right back here in a matter of months, and how she'd rather live in a cardboard box than come move back in with me. So...it seems like nearly everything in my life, there's both a good and bad outcome. I'm not letting her get me down. He deserves to be celebrated. And he is going to be. I'm going to help him out as much as I possibly can. He earned this. He is light years ahead of her mental health wise. Tonight's dinner was supposed to be a teriyaki marinated steaks with pineapple salsa. But I fell asleep last night on the couch without taking the steaks out. They are thawing, but I don't think I'll have time to marinate them the way I want to. So maybe we will get takeout this evening and have the steaks tomorrow. DS wants to go driving so I think I'll spend my evening doing that.

sueg, that's some expensive yarn. Are they spinning gold? It is hand-dyed silk/wool from Switzerland. It was really pretty, and it is for a sleeveless top with a cardigan to match, so more yarn needed than for a regular sweater, but still. I've had a look online and found an English silk/wool (same composition, and looks really similar) which is less than half the price. Still not cheap - silk is an expensive fiber - but reasonable.

She’s not going get any better until she realizes that she needs some help. Congratulations to your son he’s worked his ass off. Sounds like a good friend of mine whose son was into drugs very badly, ended up in jail, and her husband is a police officer and they went to the tough love route about two years ago. He’s now about to be married has been drug-free for over 18 months and has a great life ahead of him. Hopefully your daughter will get herself mentally healthy and if she doesn’t, it’s not because you haven’t done everything possible for her

How wonderful for your friend's son christine58! I love a good success story. And you are absolutely right. After she went off on her tirade she hung up the phone. And I sent her a text message basically saying the same thing to her. She needs help. He took advantage of the help he needed and he is in a better place. She could be too, if she was willing to do the work he has. I told her I would always be here for her and that my door was open. I am willing to give her the exact same level of support I gave him. But she has to take the first steps. I cannot do it for her.

Hi Everyone! This morning we have been dealing with the hurricane coming up from the Carolinas. We’ve had strong winds and tons of rain. But luckily, we still have power and no other issues like what New Jersey, Delaware and down close to Philly are dealing with today. scrapmaven Enjoy your infusion. jeremysgirl Congratulations again for your son. Hopefully your DD calms down soon. teddyw We have tons of bats that fly around here at night. I don’t like them either. cadoodlebug Love the meme. christine58 Good luck with your mammogram. bklyngal62 I am sorry that you don’t feel well. I hope you start feeling better this afternoon. I am planning to have chicken with rice, corn and salad for dinner. But if we lose power, it’s cereal.

Good late morning. Nothing new in my neck of the woods. Just doing some busy desk work, making phone calls that I have put off. My not so motivated self took over yesterday and we ended up with Mod Pizza. I know I have said it before, but their build your own salads is probably thee best salad I have had in my entire life and that's quite a long time. lol So, I will do the jambalaya today.
Hope everyone has a super day.

We are enjoying the break from hot and humid weather for this week, come the weekend and it will be back. Loving having the windows open.

Change of plans today. DH ran into problems with his meeting in the office, so it was held on Teams. Didn't get the house to myself after all so have enacted Plan B. I'm leaving in a few minutes to take the baby quilt to the quilt shop for quilting. It's about a 35-40 minute drive one way, so at least I get some alone time, and a visit with other people!
The steaks I grilled last night turned out very well. There is enough left for dinner tonight and a fresh salad.

I'm headachy today, I think it's the weather. The birthday dinner was a success; we ended up making French fries in the air fryer, which mom loved! She got lots of flowers from my sibs and nieces, she said it looked like a "funeral parlor."
Tonight, I'm not feeling particularly inspired. We've got leftover tacos al pastor, so maybe we rechauffe them. They were deliciously spicy!

Tribe I am exhausted. I cannot sleep and I was able to get off all my sleeping meds but I can’t sleep. I am frustrated.
Tonight’s dinner could be anything. I will have to go to the store later but don’t know what to get. I am trying to cook healthier and I have a meal planned with nothing processed and my dad wants boxed Mac n cheese to go with the dinner. I am trying really hard to eat better. I have lost 7 lbs and my clothes are looser. I am burning out. He is starting to do some stuff himself which is great.

jeremysgirl I’m glad you aren’t letting dd get you down. You deserve to celebrate him. It’s a big deal. I’m guessing she’s a little jealous he was able to get it together. Maybe this will be the nudge she needs. As far as the bats go they live in our attic. We haven’t been able to see where they come out at dusk. My niece and her bf were bit while they were sleeping in his fraternity house. They had to go through rabies shots. I would only need a 2 shot booster since I had them for my dog bite. I don’t want any. Coincidentally my old neighbor had one land on her in her backyard last week. Just sitting on her patio.

I know a lot of people have struggled with Covid and SAH orders but it has really helped DD. We quite MEND, she went on Home Hospital, and rejoined school in April after spring break. Since mid January she has been able to rest her soul and mind and spirit. And she has matured. A lot! She still has not so good days BUT we are able to talk. Hardly ever does she get loud and too emotional. (I hate to say that but she can get very very emotional and that gets in her way of proper communication). She will start at a community college and then transfer out. I told her she is always welcome to live at home if her 4 yr Uni is local. I stayed home until my last quarter. And that home is always here for her.
