Good morning. This afternoon will be a nice one. I have a Zoom chat scheduled w/my mom friends and sister. It's really vital that I keep my support system and my friends and family are everything to me. Nothing is more important than being w/your loved ones. I strongly encourage you not to isolate right now. Eventhough, we can't hug in person we can still talk to eachother and see eachother on screen. Reaching out is good for the soul.
As for dinner? That's another story. I haven't a clue. I will probably just do pasta something. TBD. What's on your menu?
Please enjoy your weekend and do something each day that makes you happy.

Welcome to Friday! Tonight I am trying a brand new recipe: Blackened Catfish. The recipe was in James Patterson's novel The Chef. Didn't care all that much for the book but loved the recipes at the end. TGIF!!

You guys I am in a dinner rut. I think I need to go shopping and take stock of all the proteins we have and develop some plans. And although DH gets home at least an hours before me, when I ask what is for dinner he replies that all the meat is frozen. I asked him to take out hamburger so we could have sloppy joes. But I am in a huge no cooking rut and it's been a couple of weeks since I baked any bread too.

We'll have rechaufee steak and quinoa hot dish for dinner, when the traveler drags in.
Everyone have a great Weekend!

I have had a lovely day. I sterted the morning with a nice walkwhile it was still cool, then met a friend and her 5YO daughter for lunch - we used to work together until year or so ago, when her daughter aged out of mini-kinder. Then I can home and had a zoom meetup with my knitting friends.
Dinner is going to be homemade gnocchi with red pesto - I bought the pesto, but it is a fresh one, not a jar. I have just finished rolling the gnocchi and they are resting waiting for the water to boil, which will now happen faster as DH realised he didn't turn the stove on!

We are going to have bacon cheeseburgers and potato salad. Ds just asked if his girlfriend could come to dinner and I know she isn't a fan of potato salad so I may make a green salad too. Probably not though I'm feeling pretty lazy. Happy Friday All shevy I am in such a rut too, in fact I don't even post here every day because I swear we eat the same things over and over and over again. DH and DS don't mind and aren't very adventurous but I am going to lose my mind.

Happy Friday everyone! Just want to thank everyone for their anniversary wishes yesterday! Our dinner at Brennan's last night was wonderful. It was our first time for dine-in since early March and it was so nice to do something that felt normal. Their dining room is already well spaced, uncrowded, and includes wing back dining chairs so they didn't have to make major changes there. There was a plexiglass barrier at the bar, but it was well done and unobtrusive. Will definitely go back soon I hope.
Have already done paperwork and half my ironing. Waiting on a call back from contractor #1 for our study/kitchen remodel. Ready to get that show on the road. The landscape company will have the contract ready on Monday and a start date on our new terrace off the master bedroom. It's going to be crazy but I'm looking forward to the distraction and the finished products!
Dinner tonight is mostly likely going to be a fresh salad for me. Have to compensate for that rich dinner last night (gumbo, crab cakes and bananas Foster!).

Happy Friday my friends! I'm wishing everyone an amazing weekend filled with what each of you enjoy the most.
DH went to the ranch this morning. I'm home tackling some hosuecleaning that I have put off for weeks now.
Dinner this evening is with a friend that has an exquisite back dekc with a hill country view. I'm delivering some beef to her and enjoying dinner and wine on the deck with her.

I am in such a rut too, in fact I don't even post here every day because I swear we eat the same things over and over and over again. DH and DS don't mind and aren't very adventurous but I am going to lose my mind. Our dinner has been a bit different this week, as our weather has been cooler, but our normal summer menu is pretty repetitive. Some sort of protein and a salad. The salad may be varied, but it is meat (or sometimes veggie) on the grill with a 'insert type here' salad.

psiluvu, we're so much more than people who cook dinner. It doesn't matter if you are having repeat dinners. I do it all the time. Just come for the chat and friendship. destined2bmom, I'm glad that you called your doctor. Please let us know what's happening? I'm thinking of you. Bklyngal62, haha. I wish I could enjoy it, as well. Yummy. Banana bread and coffee would be a perfect breakfast. @cadoolebug, that meme resonates.

Tonight's menu is corn. Lots of corn on the cob, roasted on the grill. SO picked up 52 ears! Guess I will be throwing it at the neighbors to share. We haven't had a corn roast all summer, so really, I don't want anything else but the corn, butter and salt. Love the meme cadoodlebug . I did laugh out loud. Enjoy your friend time scrapmaven , leannec and austnscrapaddict ! shevy - it feels like I am always in a dinner rut. Same meals week after week. Blah! Banana bread was to be baked this weekend, but it's going to be too hot. Now I have to wait until it cools down a bit. Feel better destined2bmom.

Reaching out is good for the soul. Zoom happy hours have been an unexpected good thing to come out of the pandemic. when I ask what is for dinner he replies that all the meat is frozen. I get in food ruts, too. I poke through my Pinterest boards to see if something catches my eye or think about what I would order if we were going out to dinner and try recreate it. One thing I rarely do these days is freeze proteins and, if I do, I pull something into the fridge the night before I want to use it. I have a call into my doctor. I hope your BP has been more stable over the last couple days. I might have committed to tacos for dinner. I just told DD that was what I was thinking so she didn't make a quesadilla for lunch and she is happy. We have ground beef, refried beans, shredded cabbage & carrots and avocados to fill them along with cheeses, salsa, lime and crema.

DH is going to go get all our curbside pickup orders after work today, and picking up Chinese food takeout on the way home.
One of the things he's picking up is lawn and garden care supplies from Home Depot, so that's our weekend project.
We live in an area where we get two warm weather planting seasons. Spring/summer and summer/fall. So I'm going to try and grow some vegetables for a fall harvest. Zucchini, bush beans, cucumbers, and a couple of exotic varieties of miniature melons (Tigger and Kajari). Those are the seeds I have on hand. And I've been able to grow those things with decent success this time of year in years past. This weekend I start the melons and zucchini, and I start the beans and cucumbers in another week or two.

What I really want is some delicious, handmade ice cream in a sugar cone from a local shop. I also want to buy a bottle of real, organic whipping cream and just drink it. I also want some of those ice cream novelties that look so tempting in the freezer case at any store. And maybe a waffle with butter and maple syrup.
But I won't get any of the above tonight. We'll have some cardboard I saved from awhile ago and also some potatoes. Good enough.
Thanks for the thread. I think I have an ice cream maker in the basement. Smooches, Oh Fab One of our Fab Tribe!

Hi ladies. TGIF! For the last almost 2 weeks I’ve had something going on, errands to run, appointments etc every day. Today I had NOTHING. So I have been an absolute bum today and I’ve loved every minute of it! It’s 4pm and I’m still in my PJs. 😂👍🏻 Tonight to continue with my lazy vibe, dinner will be a charcuterie board. No cooking Involved. scrapmaven enjoy your friends and fam Zoom. destined2bmom hope you feel better quick.

Ive been sitting in a parking lot for 2 and a quarter hours while ds has an mri on his shoulder. Our friend manages a restaurant just down the road from where we are, so we are picking up dinner from there- brisket, mac and cheese, baked beans, vinegar cole slaw, mexican corb salad and beer battered garlic dill pickles, which ds and I will eat in the car on the way home- 30 minutes on a good day, but it is friday rush hour so it will not be pretty

desertgirl and jeremysgirlPandemic life has definitely made me want sweets more than normal. I rarely bake or have dessert at home and I’ve made something almost every week since this shitshow started. Banana bread, cinnamon swirl muffins, pumpkin muffins, dookie cookies, cupcakes chocolate chip cookies, bread pudding etc. It’s awful! But so yummy too. 😂
