I placed an order with ACOT (A Cherry on Top) and received free shipping - yay! Well, not so much YAY, as they shipped it Fed Ex, and they used a "SmartPost" way of sending, which means it ships FED EX until it gets close to my house, and it is shipped to the USPS. So now my package is "somewhere" but nobody can tell me where, and now all the updates just say "Pending", although it was within 5 miles of me on Wednesday. So frustrating!
So, my question - is the Free Shipping that ACOT a special type of shipping that takes extra long? I've never had a Fed Ex package take over a week due to it going thru the USPS. That's one of the great things about Fed Ex - they get it there in 2-days, without fail. The shipping with ACOT cost $15, which was Free to me, but had I paid the $15 myself, would I have my package for 4 days already?
Has anyone experienced this?

I doubt it has anything to do with ACOT. SmartPost just sucks. It will tell me out for delivery, then change to expected in 2 days, then maybe show up 2 or 3 days later.

Thats what I'm trying to figure out. Does ACOT have a special deal with Fed Ex to transfer packages to SmartPost? This may allow for cheaper shipping when they are offering Free Shipping. Or is this a Fed Ex decision to transfer to USPS, as that isn't right if I've paid for the Fed Ex service (or if ACOT has paid for FedEx service).

"Shipping Carriers
We ship with the United States Postal Service and FedEx. When you select Standard Shipping, we will ship your order with the least expensive carrier and method. You may also select Expedited shipping, both within the United States and Internationally. (Overnight, 2nd Day, 3rd Day)."
I receive my orders straight from FedEx. I used to get my ACOT via USPS and it would take 6-7 days to ship.
Now it takes 2 days. BUT I often upgrade my shipping, even when it is free because I HATE Smart Post.
American Girl moved to that and a lot of customers complained. So I upgrade that shipping too to get away from Smart Post.
Smart Post adds 2-3 extra days.
And now with the crappy USPS mailings going on, I have seen it add 4 days.

I’m not sure specifically about ACOT. Smartpost or the UPS equivalent, Sure Post maybe? take 7-10 days to reach me, longer than any of the services by themselves.

I will have to do that next time. The power of the Peas, they always know!

Well, previous to July, I actually preferred smart post as my mail box has a lock and if the package is too big there’s a larger locking box that the mail carrier leaves a key for. So I know my package is ‘safe’ from the weather & package thieves til I get home.
But lately instead of going from my local postal distribution center to my local post office, the mail takes an additional journey. Sometimes cross country. It’s completely inexplicable what they are doing with stuff. I know I mentioned before packages going from here in NJ to PA before coming back but now I’ve had one go find the state it came from to NJ then back across the country to the state next to where it originated. It’s literally senseless what is happening.

I had an AG Doll package go from Wi to Florida to Tenn to Utah to my state. I was like W the actual F. Someone needs logistics training again.

Please remember that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and shipping is wacky everywhere. I work in e-commerce and we're lucky if our USPS guy picks up our outgoing packages more than once a week now. Stations are still working with reduced staff, which causes delays.

My mail service is really spotty. Anytime something goes through the USPS it takes a really long time. I ordered from ACOT recently and haven't received it yet but they do a really good job shipping things out fast- I just know right now things are going to take a while to get here because of the shipping companies being backed up and understaffed.

This has been going on way before Covid.
