I have read that things are messed up at USPS these days.
I ordered from scrapbook.com, and it was sent 17 days ago. The order has now rested in LA for 14 days!
Will I ever see my package?

Hi. I'm also waiting on a pkg. from scrapbook.com. It was supposed to be delivered this past Tues (11Aug) and the only information on the tracking site says that it will be late. No updates for several days. Let's hope our pkgs. get here soon and undamaged. Maria

Some of my packages are coming late here on the east coast. None from Scrapbook.com. So its not just them. Had something hang up for a week at a processing facility in Utah. Then when things get to my local sorting facility, it is taking a few days to get to PO and then out to me. Usually goes out same day if it arrives there early, and next day if in the afternoon. Mail in my Informed Delivery scans is also arriving a day or two later than it should.

Packages often seem to run late these days.
On Wednesday, I mailed a package to a friend. It was sent priority mail, and it was supposed to get to her today. Now it says that it is running late, and once it left the local regional post office, there are no updates. I have no clue where it is at the moment.
The notice at the top of the tracking page says that due to transportation limitations resulting from COVID, packages may be delayed. It also says that Priority Mail will NOT be affected. Except that I sent the package to my friend by Priority Mail, and it IS running late.
I am in the middle of the USA. My package to my friend was going to Tennessee. My recent Queen & Co. order arrived at a California post office on Thursday, and has already arrived at a local regional post office. It appears to be running on time, and I don’t know if it was even sent Priority. However, a month or two ago, that same California post office was taking so long that I thought they had lost my package. I did eventually get it, but I had a lot of heartburn over it.
If post office staff or truck drivers get sick, it’s not like they can be replaced with temporary workers and necessarily have satisfactory results. That’s true of many jobs. I think most are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

It's bad right now. Everything I've ordered online in the last two weeks, from scrapbooking supplies to homeschooling curriculum to clothing, has been delayed. Sometimes while checking the tracking, I see that packages sit for days in one city along the route. It seems to be mostly USPS or UPS Mail Innovations.

Gah! I know sometimes this is due to specific issues, like when Michigan was so backed up during the peak of the pandemic. But I feel like we also need to get on our elected officials to demand emergency funding for USPS.
This affects UPS and FedEx parcels too because they rely on the USPS to deliver locally, such as with "UPS Mail Innovations" and other services - I forget what FedEx calls theirs. I know many of us have bad experiences with those services that transfer to the USPS, they are slow, but they're also much cheaper - if they didn't use those services we'd paying a lot more for our shipping and/or the items we buy, and some people in the boonies wouldn't get deliveries at all.
I hope everyone's packages arrive soon.

I have lots of opinions on this topic, but they belong on the NSBR board, tagged political.

I don't think it's just packages. We haven't received mail since Wednesday, even though informed delivery says we have mail coming both Thursday and Friday. Luckily it's nothing important like bills or craft supplies. (haha). DH has been waiting on a package that was supposed to be delivered on July 27th. I'm not sure where he ordered from but he's unable to cancel or get a refund from the company because the PO status just says "delayed".

My last two orders from SB.com were delivered by UPS, which was odd. I thought maybe they had switched because of the delays with USPS.

Thank Donald Trump for the post office mess. Is there anything that man doesn't destroy? PO and delivery here has been a train wreck since before his time. We had to get a PO box in the next town over a long time ago for our business because local delivery was so bad.

I’m worried about my dad getting his medication through the mail. Our congressperson told us to expect delays and to try to switch to pick up if we can.

Hi again. I rec'd my pkg from scrapbook.com yesterday. Ordered on 05Aug, filled by sb.com on 08Aug and delivered on 19Aug. I did contact sb.com about my shipment and their customer service was very helpful, offering to do a trace (my shipment came the very next day so that wasn't needed).
I hope you all have rec'd your late shipments also. I don't mind being patient with the post office (please stay in business despite all the hardships) but I do wish their tracking system was a little better.

Thank Donald Trump for the post office mess. Is there anything that man doesn't destroy? The postal accountability act of 2006 is why the usps is circling the drain. They’ve been operating on a deficit for so long that it’s catching up to them. Trump cutting more funding isn’t helping for sure along with covid. But it’s not “just trump”.

I see that I am not alone in waiting.
My sb.com items were ordered July25th, sent July 29th, and have been sitting in LA since August 1st. Today is August 20th.
Not moving for 19 days seems to be a bit much. In the past, I usually have received my package 2 days after it reaches LA, and I am in Canada.

They’ve been operating on a deficit for so long that it’s catching up to them. Trump cutting more funding isn’t helping for sure along with covid. But it’s not “just trump”. No, you’re right, it was a Bush who really messed them up in 2006, making them fund pensions in a way that no other business is required to do. And they’re hamstrung because they can’t raise postal rates without permission but they also rely on postage to fund themselves. they aren’t funded by the government - as I understand it the money they’re asking for is more of an emergency bail-out similar to what many other businesses have received through PPP etc specific to the pandemic. The recent changes that the new postmaster general has made and DT’s “leadership” plus the fact that we’re in a global pandemic have all contributed. But also, sometimes packages are delayed. Sometimes mistakes are made. USPS actually has an impressively low rate of mistakes/delivery failure, no matter how it feels to the average customer who wants their stuff. ralams3 have you contacted scrapbook.com yet ? They might not be able to help you, maybe not until a certain period of time has passed, but at a certain point they should mark it lost in the mail and send you a new package. Also, sometimes packages are not scanned correctly and show up unexpectedly. I hope it arrives soon.

You might have a longer wait. I ordered one ruler from scrapbook.com. It shipped on May 26, sat in LA for all ofJune and July, made it to Vancouver on August 8 and hasn’t moved since. Not sure when it will make it to me in Ontario.

joblackford you’re actually the person who got me curious about the postal situation to go doing some learning. I had no idea until you posted it. Oh great I had no idea until a postal worker told me about it! I just assumed, like most people, that the government poured money into the system and they were failing because they're civil servants/bureaucracy, bad management, and email etc. But it's so much more complex than that! I actually read a history of the post office last year that was quite interesting and they pointed out a bunch of ways the post office could've shifted with the times and done some things differently. But if the people controlling them just want them to fail, they're totally screwed.

I have a package I’m waiting for that has a shipping tag and number from back in July. I don’t want to contact the company because they did their part, despite being delayed themselves because of reduced staffing and long fulfillment times. I know the USPS is struggling with Covid delays and with recent “changes” to their operations. I’m patiently waiting for my order—because it’s not like I don’t have enough stuff to craft with and be productive. I feel badly for everything going on so I don’t want to cause a big stink about my small order that people are doing their best to get delivered. My small crafting package isn’t nearly as important as other items that are being shipped and having delays. As joblackford said, USPS is pretty reliable so I see this delay as an anomaly, especially compared to the numerous packages I’ve had delivered since the stay at home recommendations started. I can handle one craft package being delayed, especially since it’s been one package in the last however many years—during a pandemic. Even if it takes a year to get this one package, I’ll take the super low rate of issues and delays for their overall fantastic, reasonably priced service.

The political interference in the "bad-being" of the USPS is even making headlines in Europe. Just a week ago, this was headline news over here. I feel like my life right now as all coronavirus and the state of the US democracy + November elections.

Be patient. I ordered two things on July 1st from two separate places. They were shipped out the following week and sat in some repository for over 3 weeks. On August 1, I called both places and they resent the items and those items arrived and lo and behold, a couple of days ago, my other items arrived, too! They were custom made items, so I couldn't return and I have no need for two of them. It's disgusting what's going on.

Oh, I am patient.
I have been thinking that if I knew that my parcel was going to take so long to get here, I would have ordered more stuff! I only ordered the 6 x6 page protectors that I had been looking for because I received a "now in stock" email.

Even if it takes a year to get this one package, I’ll take the super low rate of issues and delays for their overall fantastic, reasonably priced service. Start a "where's my package" inquiry at USPS.com. Their website tells you how long to wait before opening a claim; I haven't checked it lately to see if it's been updated for the times, but I figure if they want people to wait longer, they will change the timeframes. Anyway, I always wait at least that long (I think it's 7 or 10 business days for first class mail and packages) and then a few more days... But every time I've done it--I think I'm up to 4 total, and that includes pre-Covid-- there's been movement on my packages within hours. I've always kind of assumed that it's something like stuff falling off the conveyor belt or a bucket getting inadvertently set aside that no one realizes is missing until a customer makes an inquiry. Also, I have had several packages lately start with "shipping label created" and have zero updates until they arrive in my city. That used to be strange-- packages would at least get scanned somewhere along the way-- but now it's pretty common, at least in my experience. So I try to wait long enough to ensure that I think it really is stuck, not just slow on updates, before I start a claim. ETA: I believe I read that Los Angeles in particular is backed up because it is the port of entry for a lot of international packages... maybe now the sole point for things coming in from Japan/Australia/NZ/China.

But if the people controlling them just want them to fail, they're totally screwed. With very rare exception postal workers are super hard workers. I see them all the time out in 90+ degree heat walking with a giant bag on their shoulder delivering mail. The rules put in place causing the financial issues have nothing to do with how hard postal workers work. There is a difference with what has happened lately. First there were staffing issues from the pandemic. But since July there have been other issues with bizarre routing. If you have tracking on your mail and it’s something you recieve regularly you’ll notice it’s taking a very odd route lately than it ever did before. I get things regularly that used to take 3 days and go from where the cone from to NJ then to my post office then out for delivery. Now it goes on a world tour sometimes going to NJ then leaving again. And since the national uproar started ( A few weeks ago? (2-3 weeks ) things are scanned less. As if, they think that if they don’t scan the packages no one can be upset about the packages being late? It’s just bizarre.

I too have a package coming from Scrapbook.com and it is taking forever. It's stuck out in the AZ processing center. Scrapbook.com does allow you to pick who you want to ship with however, Fedex ground can take a long time as well. I may have to stick with ordering in my time zone. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Whoa, that’s crazy. They usually process my orders and ship the same day or next day. I live in AZ so I usually get my packages from them in a couple days, but I’ll admit, I haven’t ordered from them in a while. (A while meaning a couple weeks or so....) I did check on my package from a month ago from another company. Turns out, the company printed the shipping label and never delivered it to the post office, so they have (hopefully) resent it to me. I don’t blame the company though with everything going on. They responded to my email query quickly. So did USPS. There are good people all around trying to do their best.

It’s FedEx that’s driving me up the wall.
Supposed to have a package delivered Saturday.
Then Sunday it was pending.
Monday. Supposed to be delivered that day.
Then pending.
Now today, it said pending. Then delivery today. Then pending. Then delivery tomorrow. Now it’s pending again.
Just get my darned box off the truck and throw it on my porch.
