I enjoy it this way much better too. I loved Hilary’s self deprecating humor the role call yesterday and am looking forward to hearing Obama and Kamala tonight. I too enjoy this much better. I am hearing and listening without cheers and applause.

DJ Judd... ”An RNC tells CNN former Covington Catholic Student Nick Sandmann, MO couple Mark & Patricia McCloskey, Parkland father Andrew Pollack, anti-abortion activist Abby Johnson, SD Gov. Kristy Noem, & PA Cong. Candidate Sean Parnell will address the RNC, as first reported by Breitbart.” I wondered who trump would get. I’m assuming this lineup is correct. I believe this could be called scrapping the bottom of the barrel or trump doesn’t want anyone giving a speech at his ego massaging Convention that may outshine him. What? No Kid Rock or Scott Baio? 🤣

I just feel so choked up.
President Obama's speech was so powerful, made me miss hearing a true leader. Senator Warren spoke well, and I noticed the "BLM" in letters in the school cubbies. And now Senator Harris is speaking with such energy, conviction, and truth...
It is a political army trying to save America from Trump.

I miss actual achievements vs tv popularity. I hate the division 45 has created. I hate policy via twitter. I hate followers mansplaining that he didn’t mean what he just said. I hate the hypocrisy of people attacking Biden for “his mental capacity” while choosing to ignore 45’s “mental capacity”. I’m ready for the change. I’m ready to have grown ups back in charge. ”I'm listening closely to the Democrats. But there's just, factually, way less to do.
No doubt in part because there's a lot of generalities/biography stuff/subjective opinion. But it's just not even in the same universe as listening to Trump.”
”A common response to Trump's lying is "well, they all lie." I think it's important to note how asymmetrical the lying is.
You have hours of numerous Democrats speaking with no objectively false claims. It's rare to get ten minutes falseness-free from this president.”

the speeches of hillary, obama and kamala were very powerful.. I had the privilege of meeting hillary in person and tonight I felt her warmth and humor came through.. qualities you see when you see her in person. (my boss at in 2016 worked for hillary) and kamala was warm and relatable too tonight. Obama's speech was a tour de force...it will be one of the great speeches.. and worth listening to again.
I like a lot of the parts of the virtual convention.

When you're feeling particularly low about this country, watch this, or pieces of this (call starts at 7:30). Remind yourself why you love this country and how NOT ALONE you are!!! There are 35% of this country who are selfish asses who care about little but guns and greed. But there are MANY MORE who are kind, compassionate, strong, clear-thinking, empathetic, loving people! Thanks for posting this! I don’t think I would have watched it otherwise and I’m glad I did.

Bill Kristol... Our former president indicted the current one and made urgent the need to put him in the dustbin of history in these 242 words without ever having to say his name. It was truly remarkable." -- @timodc mailchi.mp/thebulwark/3-s…“ linkHe’s talking about this article in The Triad by Tim Miller about the convention & President Obama’s speech. These are the 242 words he’s talking about... “ Some years ago, I sat down with John and the few remaining leaders of the early Civil Rights Movement. One of them told me he never imagined he’d walk into the White House and see a president who looked like his grandson. Then he told me that he’d looked it up, and it turned out that on the very day that I was born, he was marching into a jail cell, trying to end Jim Crow segregation in the South. What we do echoes through the generations.
Whatever our backgrounds, we’re all the children of Americans who fought the good fight. Great grandparents working in firetraps and sweatshops without rights or representation. Farmers losing their dreams to dust. Irish and Italians and Asians and Latinos told to go back where they came from. Jews and Catholics, Muslims and Sikhs, made to feel suspect for the way they worshipped. Black Americans chained and whipped and hanged. Spit on for trying to sit at lunch counters. Beaten for trying to vote.
If anyone had a right to believe that this democracy did not work, and could not work, it was those Americans. Our ancestors. They were on the receiving end of a democracy that had fallen short all their lives. They knew how far the daily reality of America strayed from the myth. And yet, instead of giving up, they joined together and said somehow, some way, we are going to make this work. “

CNN...
”Trump in overdrive to produce a blockbuster RNC that outshines Dems”
”Washington(CNN) Pre-recorded speeches and a few paper streamers? Not on his watch.
President Donald Trump, a television producer at heart, is hoping for a convention next week that looks vastly different from the all-digital event Democrats have staged over the past days -- including an emphasis on live programming and at least some type of audience who can respond to the multiple appearances he is planning.
Calling aides at all hours from Air Force One or the White House residence, Trump has conveyed last-minute ideas on venues or gimmicks and demanded progress reports on the speakers he wants during his nominating extravaganza, which he hopes will provide a boost to his poll numbers.”
Yea, good luck with that.

i kinda skimmed thru this thread, but one of my favorite parts was the keynote with the younger new mayors, reps, etc... that was just so uplifting! lots of tears for me! i loved the john mccain video and the segments on the bidens and how they met and their family, and the mamala segment with her niece, sister, etc.
the speeches in empty rooms are a little awkward, but not having to wait for everyone to stop screaming and clapping isn't such a bad thing!
