”Julia Louis-Dreyfus: "30330. That would be the president's golf score if he didn't cheat. OK, look. I'll admit that was a little nasty. But we all know he's a cheater. And I'm proud to be a nasty, nasty woman."

”My Lord, this segment on John Lewis. I will never forget his response during ‘08 presidential race when I asked how to win the hearts of white voters. “We don’t need their hearts, Connie,” he said. “We need them to do the right thing.”

"Leader McConnell is traveling across...Kentucky next week to speak w/ families, workers, and job creators about their needs. While the Leader is not speaking during the RNC, his support for Pres. Trump is clear."

He does. He talked about a united country. About being more than red or blue. About being a president for all and not just a few. About hope and not fear. About squashing racism. About who we are and who we want to be. I have hope now.

I have to say, that was a great convention. I wasn’t really planning to watch much of it but I ended up watching all of it each day. I did see that Fox News is also showing it so I hope some people can be converted. I was going to vote for Biden no matter what, but now I am even more happy to do so.

Go, Joe.
This is just a small thing, but watching Joe Biden’s granddaughters talking about his daily calls to them, how he’d answer their call no matter what he was doing, how well they know him and he them....it really makes me wonder about Donald Trump’s relationship with/knowledge of his own grandchildren.
It’s all the little things that contribute to the big thing.

I was looking up which kids belonged to which of his kids and such and came across an article that talked about Joe missing a campaign event at one point because it was his granddaughters graduation (she is best friend with Sasha Obama and they had a joint grad party) and his daughters birthday. He said he would miss inauguration for that. I think that shows his heart and love of family.

I think that he did a great job tonight. He sounded and looked strong and the love he has for the country and his family shown through I just hope it is enough to overcome the nastiness that is to come.

It’s all the little things that contribute to the big thing. He doesn't seem to have much of a relationship with his youngest son, a.k.a. Melania's son. I can't imagine him even knowing his grandchildren's names, quite honestly. I may not have grown up in a fancy tower with gold toilets, but I did have a father who played with us, made us snacks, came to all of our softball games and band concerts, patiently helped me fix the horror that was my wood shop project when I ruined it and was having a major meltdown, and tucked us into bed every night. By day, he worked his tail off in a blue collar factory environment in order to give us a decent life and the hope of a college education. I got all of those material things, and a heck of a lot more. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I will not be surprised if that asshole Barr manages to come up with some lame excuse to arrest Obama and/or Biden sometime in September or October.

Round 2 The RNC Convention...
NY Times..
”Republicans Rush to Finalize Convention (‘Apprentice’ Producers Are Helping)
The party is promising a more traditional in-person spectacle with President Trump speaking every night. Coming into this weekend, major TV networks had only a foggy idea of what to expect.”
Of course he is. It’s all about him.

More from The NY Times... link”Party officials say their convention — during which Mr. Trump is expected to speak every night in the 10 p.m. hour — will ultimately surpass the Democrats’ telethon-like show, which the president and his allies have repeatedly called “dark,” depressing and thin on policy proposals. “We’re going to have more of it live than what they did,” Mr. Trump told Fox News on Thursday. “I think it’s pretty boring when you do tapes.” Exactly what that looks like remains an open question.” What would you call being right in the middle of a pandemic with high unemployment? Lots of laughs? Thin on policy proposals? Who the Democrats? Once again trump and company are confused.

But his devotees love to claim that he can’t be anti-Semitic because he has Jewish grandchildren. Yeah, right. It clearly means so much to him... 👎🏼

NPR... ”The last three presidents won reelection not just on their past accomplishments, but also on their vision for the nation's future. So far, President Trump has been vague about that. His campaign insists that will change at the RNC.” link“Convention Gives Trump A Chance To Explain How He'll Make America Great Again, Again”From the article... ”The last three American presidents all won reelection, and they all knew voters would reward them, not for their accomplishments, but for their future plans. Bill Clinton promised to build a "bridge to the 21st century" in 1996. George W. Bush offered safety and prosperity in 2004, built on conservative economic and national security policies. For Barack Obama in 2012, it was all about protecting the middle class as the country continued recovering from the Great Recession. At this week's Republican National Convention, President Trump will get a chance to not only remind voters why he thinks Joe Biden would be a disaster in the White House, but also lay out his own vision for the future. So far, he hasn't been very specific about what it is. Like most incumbents, the president's second-term agenda would be a continuation of his first, and Trump wants to rewind to the moment right before the pandemic began when he says the economy was the best in history.” Yea and he is going to tell his plans with a speech each night of the convention.

From NPR the themes for each night and the speakers.. linkMonday, "Land of Promise": During the day, a maximum of 336 delegates will convene in Charlotte, conduct the roll call vote and formally renominate Trump and Vice President Pence for the Republican Party's presidential ticket. Speakers on Monday include South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and Donald Trump Jr. ”Mark and Patricia McCloskey are set to participate in the convention on Monday, too. The McCloskeys garnered national attention in June for brandishing their guns at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their home in St. Louis. The couple face felony charges. Tuesday, "Land of Opportunity": First lady Melania Trump is slated to speak, likely from the White House. Also speaking will be Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Eric and Tiffany Trump. Nick Sandmann, a former student of Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky, is also expected to speak Tuesday. In January 2019, a video of Sandmann face to face with a Native American protester on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial went viral. Sandmann later sued several media organizations for their coverage of the events, which he said falsely represented what happened. (He recently settled with CNN and The Washington Post.) “Wednesday, "Land of Heroes":”
Pence will speak from Baltimore at Fort McHenry. Second Lady Karen Pence will also give remarks Wednesday . Other speakers this night include: Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn, Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw and Madison Cawthorn, a 25-year-old political newcomer who won a Republican primary runoff for a western North Carolina congressional seat vacated by Trump's chief of staff. Thursday, "Land of Greatness": Trump will deliver his acceptance speech from the White House. Also set to deliver remarks Thursday are: Housing Secretary Ben Carson, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton and Ivanka Trump. Republicans will also hear from the parents of humanitarian aid worker Kayla Mueller, who was killed by ISIS in 2015; as well as Alice Johnson, a woman who was serving life in prison until Trump commuted her sentence, in part pushed by Kim Kardashian West.“ Nice themes, too bad the Republican Party doesn’t believe that they should apply to all Americans.

”The GOP convention lineup makes sense, given the Trump campaign’s goal for the convention: Not to persuade, to attract, or to mollify. Rather to trash Biden and the Democrats without regard to facts or evidence. That is, to fear-monger and demagogue. It’s a lineup built for that.”
