Thanks. I should add that she does take a fish oil supplement. And I'm going to be working on adding flax seed to some foods. Also I love salmon and have been wanting to try them anyway. She is 20 and can choose to eat them or not, I would just like her to try a bite and figure if the salmon flavor is more disguised I can honestly say that to her (which I guess I will have to find out myself). She loves shellfish but is not a big fan of fish unless it's deep fried. Nor is she a fan of many veggies and in any case, many of them don't agree with her due to her IBS. Between that and the fact that now that she's older, driving and has her own money she eats a lot of crap the last few years. I'm trying to convince her to change and I think she is starting to realize it but I want to do what I can to make healthier foods she will eat.

I do not like fish of any kind except canned tuna mixed with mayo, onion and pickle. That said I was raised on salmon patties made with canned salmon, onion, eggs and breadcrumbs and I remember liking them. I do not remember them tasting fishy.

Another salmon lover who is nay on salmon patties. You should, however, try making them and see how you like them. My friend, who is an occupational therapist who specialized in pediatric feeding, always says the family and parents should model the eating behavior they want to achieve. My 19-year old is in a garbage food phase. Fortunately, she is now in Amsterdam and Hot Cheetos cost €6 so no more of those, but she has discovered street herring so there is hope. Insofar as diet for autoimmune disorder this book is pretty good: Wahls Protocol I can't remember why I bought it but the tl/dr is to eat bone broth and vegetables.

I love both salmon and salmon patties. My mom used to serve us salmon patties with a big dollop of sour cream/lemon juice/dill mixture on top. Heavy on the dill.
She also made these fancy sandwiches for parties where she had the bread cut into long slices instead of the normal way. She then took the long slice and spread on the salmon spread with sweet pickles on one end and then rolled them up into spiral logs and pinned them with toothpicks. These were wrapped in waxed paper and placed into the refrigerator bin under damp tea towels. She also made a cream cheese, green onion, and pecan rollup and I think the final was egg salad. These were a HUGE hit every time she made them for parties. I always had to hide a couple because there were never any leftovers. These tasted just as good the day after the party as they did during. With the waxed paper, they never dried out.
They were always made the day before so that the spiral held together after removing the toothpicks. She would slice the spirals about a half of an inch thick and put them on a plate with a curly lettuce base as decoration. I would not eat a normal salmon sandwich like I would a tuna sandwich, but I adored the salmon spirals. I don't know why, but they tasted totally different. I'm going to have to look to see if I can find her recipe for these. She did something different to them because they did not taste like a regular canned salmon sandwich.

Ds - nearly 20 - also hated salmon. HATED it. Last fall at college, a friend of his made it for dinner. He was too embarrassed to say he didn't like it, so he just ate it, and turns out he loves it now. Asks for it at least once a week. We always told him his taste buds would change. Glad we were right. 😁 As a result picky nicky will now try all sorts of things he claimed he hated and has added many to his repertoire. My mom used to tell me this all the time when I was growing up. Turns out she was right!

I dislike salmon, but I like salmon patties. I also LOVE smoked salmon (on a bagel with cream cheese please)
