I started scrapping about 15 years ago and today I finally got rid of my eyelets. They were soooo popular when I started, partly because no one had thought of colored brads yet. The Crop-a-dile had yet to be invented and we had to set them using an eyelet setter and a small hammer. I hung on to them because I would occasionally use them but it's been years. I had them stored in a cropper hopper embellishment storage case (30 2"x2" squares) that as of today holds my ribbon.

I think I have few, just in case, you know? But I just found a stash of brads I didn't know I had! Must have gotten them at a convention some years back. I'm so disorganized.

can't part with mine, I really might need them to attach something! Or they might come back in style! I have them in a small tic tac box that doesn't take much room. I might as well keep them, just in case.

I still like to use them occasionally for twine, so I've hung on to my small supply.
Still, it feels good to let go of stuff when we know we haven't or won't use it again!

I have large ones that I still use once in while. The tiny ones are useless.

I actually used some eyelets on a layout recently. The placement was not near a side, so I had to dig out my old setting tools, too.

I liked your title... the end of the eyelet era. I still have mine, but I don't have many and they take up little space in my plastic divided boxes. I was never able to set mine nicely, so although I still like the idea of eyelets (I mostly have plain round ones and they are nice on small tags at the hole), I am never happy with the way they look. I do have a cropadile thingy, but I think I'm just eyelet challenged.

I use mine all the time for card making but I have a crop-a-dile, so it isn't noisy!

I use mine occasionally, especially on tags, and I have a silent setter, so there is no noise.

I use a lot of tags as the base of an embellishment cluster (habit) or tucked away with extra photos / journalling. I use eyelets in the holes quite a lot- as said above by 950nancy the tiny ones are pretty useless but I am hanging on to my larger ones.

I got rid of mine a couple of years back as they are just not something that even if they come back in fashion I can see myself using but I do still have a pack of red and green eyelets that I just can't seem to part with just in case I need them for Christmas cards.

I actually used mine at work...we had some hang tags that needed to be reinforced cause they kept pulling off (laminated) so I eyeletted 'em all Most of mine went to a new home a couple of years ago tho.

I actually used a heap of mine recently and I still find the odd project I include them on. That said, once my current stash is gone I won't be buying them again.

I got rid of all my smaller eyelets and snaps a couple of years ago. I kept some larger eyelets but nothing like before. I also have the longer eyelets for when I am working on chipboard.

Gosh, I wish I had projects to do, lots and lots to do so I could use those darn things. I know there's round ones, square ones, flower shapes, balloons, eggs, other odd shapes, flat tops, screw tops, brads, who knows ...
Like everything else, there's several gazillion of them and I just keep moving them from place to place. At least they are contained in one cropper hopper soft-sided thing with maybe 6 divided trays (each tray having something like 20 individually closed sections--something like that, don't ask me to look because I don't want to dive under the desk to find it!)

Back in the day we used vellum a lot. We'd run it through the printer for journaling or make pockets out of it on pages. Eyelets were one of the best ways to attach it since glues usually showed through. Tags were really popular and we'd use the eyelets on those. As soon as colored brads came out a lot of people, including myself, switched to them since they were so much easier to use. Eyelets, fiber, ribbon and stickers were the hot embellishment items. (Anyone remember sticker sneeze?)

Actually I still like vellum but I use it in different ways than I I did before. I've used up most of my fiber so I don't have a lot of that left. Ribbons are on hiatus since I got burned out on them. I'm keeping them because I'm sure at some point we'll be friends again.

Uh oh, haven't you seen the new Fiskars tag punch that makes a tag and sets the eyelet for you? It looks pretty cool!

I still have mine. And...I still use them once in a while! I like the look, since there's a hole, instead of solid like a brad. They have the most effect for me if I use a lot of them, like in a circle, or a cluster of some sort.

I got rid of mine a couple years back, after one too many times of knocking them over and picking them up. I had not used them so out they went, have to say I have not even thought about them.

I never had a ton of eyelets, but do still use them occasionally - maybe once a year. They don't take up much room, so I doubt I will get rid of them.
