If you subscribe to the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month Club is it worth the money? I would like to have this month's hot foil stamp but don't like to give companies the ok to automatically charge to a credit card each month for a subscription. Will this hot foil stamp that is in the Kit of the Month Club later be available for individual sale without a subscription attached?

I don't subscribe, so I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I'm curious about this, too. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of your link it looks like you can buy past month's designs, just without the roll of foil. It seems you can still get them, but it's less of a value if you don't subscribe.

You are right it does look like they are selling some of their past kits of the month. If they only show three of them Spellbinders must sell out of a lot of months' kits.

You can skip a month if you don’t want that months kit. Under their Q&A section it says remaining kits can be purchased but can take up to 6 months before they’re available again.

Thanks, Lindas, I think I need to spend some time looking at the information. Somewhere I think I saw that you can skip 5 times.

I've been getting the Spellbinders subscriptions for a while. I started with the Glimmer of the Month, but the best thing (in my opinion) about the Spellbinders club kits is that you can change which kits you get each month with NO hassle! You just go into your dashboard and change the item, so you can get any of the individual kits or even the value kits, then completely change it again the next month! After the hassle of subscribing to other kits (*cough Studio Calico cough*), it is SO delightfully easy!
You're correct that you can skip 5 times. The other great thing is that you are billed/shipped monthly based on what date you originally started your subscription. I have mine set up for the 7th of the month, which gives me enough time to see the full kits and some design projects and still have time to change the kit/skip a month. I highly recommend NOT subscribing in the first week of the month so you can have a little bit of time to figure out what you want.
As others mentioned, the kits are usually available for sale afterwards on the site, but not immediately. I have not yet seen a kit sell out during the month it's featured but it's always possible.
My personal recommendations for Spellbinders inspiration are Nichol Spohr and Yana Smakula. Nichol always does several Spellbinders videos each month. Yana actually works for Spellbinders so she often does their videos but sometimes does her own as well and she's got a beautiful cardmaking style!
I hope all that helps and let me know if I can answer any other questions!

Thanks Wendifful for the information. I read through all of the information about their various kit clubs on Spellbinder's web site. Since you indicated that "subscribing to other kits is SO delightfully easy," I thought I'd give it a try.
I subscribed to the Glimmer of the Month kit. That little easel they have in their large die kit this month is also cute. So, I can see why being able to change kit subscriptions monthly would be a good thing.
Thanks for the positive input about the kit club. In the "old days" you could subscribe to a subscription club and it was hard to get it cancelled. Anyway, I would like to build up a few more hot foil stamps.

I found a foil plate at my localish hobby lobby and don't have the machine yet.

I found a foil plate at my localish hobby lobby and don't have the machine yet. I do have the machine! So far I've had great results with it. My only (small) gripe is that once you've foiled something, the base takes a short time (maybe 1 minute? I haven't timed it) to heat back up, so that adds time to the process. However, I think that's unavoidable, since the base has to be hot, so it's not a design flaw, just a slight inconvenience. Before I bought the machine, I watched a lot of YouTube videos to decide if it was something I wanted/would use. I found this video especially helpful with the different tips for getting good foiling results. I also thought I'd mention that if you have a Cricut/Silhouette/Scan n Cut, you might consider buying the Foil Quill because then you would have a wider variety of designs to use, as SVGs are much cheaper than the hot foil plates. The only slight drawback of the Foil Quill is that it doesn't seem to do bolder designs as well (even with the bold tip). I recently got the fine tip Foil Quill and it's great for sentiments and whatnot, so I think it can be helpful to figure out what kind of designs you'd like to foil. If they're mainly fine line designs, then the Foil Quill might be a more economical investment, but if you prefer larger foiled areas, the Glimmer hot foil system would be better. Finally, you probably already know this, but I thought I'd mention that you can use the hot foil plates with your normal die cutting machine to create letterpress effects, either just debossing or adding ink so it leaves an inked impression. (It's best to use a watercolor paper or something with similar thickness.) Since you have the one plate, you could try doing that to see how you like the process, even though it wouldn't have the foil. Here's a great video from Jennifer McGuire that shows more of this technique.

You can always just get this months and cancel. I subscribe to the small dies and my date is the 23rd of the month by then I know if I want it or not and just skip for that month if I don't want it.

Thanks, Azcrafty. I subscribed to the Glimmer Kit. I just didn't want to subscribe to something that was hard to get out of. I am looking forward to collecting some hot foil stamps.

Artsyk, I have the GoPress foiling machine. It's been sitting on a shelf for a while for I didn't think I had time to use it. It was hot outside the other day so I decided to take it out and try it. This was the first time I've used it even though I've collected a few hot foil stamps. I got beautiful results the first time. On the GoPress the plastic plate on top is a flip lid but if anything happens to it it the plastic lid is not replaceable.
I am thinking the Spellbinders machine has plastic plates that are not attached. This might be a good advantage of the Spellbinders machine. I think you can buy new plastic plates if needed.
Someone that has the Spellbinders Glimmer machine can address this more and talk about the plates.

Artsyk, if you are going to purchase one of the hot foil machines, check them out. I thought I had read that the GoPress lid couldn't be replaced, but here is a link where they are selling the lid. (I googled and there are other places to purchase the replacement lid.) Anyway, I am pleased with the results I got with the GoPress. I did use Spellbinder's Glimmer foil. I don't know if that makes a difference or not--Couture Creations which is GoPress does make hot foil. This is another link to the replacement lid. It shows the lid on the machine. I was just checking that the lid was endorsed by the company. Anyway, the lid was the only thing I could see that could go wrong with the machine, since it's plastic, unless the entire machine quits.
