Hey all!
I'm still a bit of a newbie here, but I've seen and heard SOOOO much about hybrid and I admit I'm curious to try it out. The thing is, I already HAVE the standard photoshop, as part of the creative cloud, but I see a ton of folks referencing Photoshop Elements, which is an additional cost. Ideally I'd like to learn hybrid techniques with the software I already have access to, but I'm not sure how much of any class is PS vs PSE and I don't want to purchase a class that is too heavily focused on Elements when it's not the software I have.
I've seen a few class options out there - Ali Edwards Hybrid comes to mind, as well as several on CreativeLive which could be good or not, I have no idea.
Any insight? Any particular hybrid classes that you felt covered PS well? Or should I fork out the money to get PSE instead?
Total newbie here, as I said, so thanks for any guidance you digital folks can provide! Thanks all!!!

I don't do digi or hybrid, but I did listen in on Traci Reed's class at the Scrap Smarter Experience. She talked about several tricks for using Photo Shop to create digital stamps (or "brushes") for your pages and various other edits. It looked like fun, but I will need to use the playback and then stop it every minute or two to have her walk me through the process. She offers several classes and (I think) free you tube tutorials. You can check her out at Traci Reed Designs There are some great digi scrappers on the board, including AussieMeg and LisaDV . justjac has been creating some cool digi pieces, too. Maybe they can help you get started along that road.

If you already have PS, there is no need to also get Elements. Even though you can easily scrap with PSE, PS CC gives you so much more than Elements. I've never worked with Elements, but I think it is similar enough to PS CC that you could do a tutorial or class that uses PSE and still be able to do everything in PS CC. There are a few articles about the difference: Here is one

Please do not get PSE if you already have PS. PS is a much more powerful software. That said, many of the hybrid classes do reference PSE because more scrappers probably have it due to the lower price point for lifetime value.
If I’m remembering correctly, the AE Hybrid class uses PSE. I would still encourage you to try it, though, with Photoshop. Worst case scenario, you just have to search where the location of a particular tool is.

Echo-ing what everyone else says - if you have PS, you absolutely do not need PSE.
PS can do everything that PSE can do but PSE cannot do everything that PS can do. PSE has basic photo editing 'elements' of PS.

I just started getting more into hybrid. I have the Ali class but haven’t really gone through it all because I got overwhelmed. I have been watching krystal. Idunate on YouTube and picking up a couple of tricks here and there from her. It’s just enough to get me started and now I feel like I’m ready to dive into Ali’s class again. Here’s krystals YouTube www.youtube.com/channel/UCsVj3KIaCOaEJY5ySsJhZfQ

I'm currently taking the Ali Edwards' Hybrid class and she has tutorials using both Photoshop and PSE. I'm on the third lesson and so far she is tackling the exact things I want to learn, in order. I have tried using YouTube for the tutorials but couldn't find exactly what I want to do as it pertains to scrapbooking.
Her classes do go on sale several times a year so you can keep an eye out for that if you don't mind waiting. It's really a jam-packed class, though, and worth the price in my opinion.
Here are her lessons in the class: Downloading and Opening, Organizing, Printing Basics (includes PNGs and re-coloring them), Going Mobile for Hybrid Projects, Brushes Basics, Brushes as Patterns, Printing on a variety of materials, Brushes and the Silhouette, Silhouette Print & Cut, Journal Cards, Extracting Elements from Journal Cards, Hybrid Process, Overlays, Playing with Vinyl, Intro to Layered Templates, Working with different sizes of layered templates, Photo Collages.
Some lessons are "bonuses" from guest teachers, so those lessons might not be in both PSE and PS, but having used both in the past, I think you could really interchange them in a lot of ways. I originally used Photoshop for a decade or so before switching to Elements about 2 years ago and haven't had any problem with the switch.

I learned a lot from Jessica Sprague back in the day, but not sure what she offers now. Hers were mainly focused on PS/PSE. I haven't viewed a lot of Traci Reed's stuff, but my understanding is she has good classes. Def search YouTube videos. My version of hybrid is either printing out a page with journaling then adding a photo or adding things right onto photos like brushes, journaling, etc. I actually use apps on my phone to do most of that now - Letterglow is awesome because you can load designs from other sources. Cathy Zielske also has some good tips, hybrid templates. I learned a lot from this post and video: www.cathyzielske.com/2015/06/digital-photoshop-required/
