Why are they notoriously slow in processing and getting your order out?
I ordered on Aug 14, 12 days ago and it still says “processing”.
It happens every time I order from them.
UPDATE: It arrived today, 9/2, two days after shipping. What I thought would be a long delivery after USPS got their hands on it, proved me wrong - I'm just glad it finally showed up. 8/14 ordered, 8/31 processed, 9/2 arrived.
I'm not sure where it comes from, but I'm in Northern California.

This is precisely why I stopped ordering from SSS years ago. They took forever to ship. I order from scrapbook.com; they process orders & ship quickly.

yes. way too long to ship. I only order from them if I can not find the item anywhere else, like exclusives etc.

Huh, that's weird, because I placed a few orders over the weekend and they shipped yesterday. It wasn't something that was on reserve, was it?
ETA: I'm not doubting your story, because I've had SSS orders take a long time to ship too, it's just weird to me that mine shipped so quickly and yours didn't.

I'm another who doesn't order from them unless they're the only place to get what I'm looking for, and for the same reason! Some of my orders ship wicked fast - like same-day-placed fast. But for the most part, they take 2 weeks before they ship. I can understand taking that long when they have a good sale running, but otherwise, it's just too long (aside from Covid shutdowns earlier in the year - that seemed to have all my little shops slowed down!)

This is exactly the problem, their shipping is so very random. I only order When it’s a SSS exclusive and I’m not in a hurry.

I’ve only had one issue with their shipping and that was my own fault. I had a reserved item in my order and it took forever for them to get it in stock. That’s a mistake I won’t make again. My last order was on 7/26 and it shipped on 7/29.
I’m willing to cut a bit of slack on orders because of the virus. You don’t know how many employees they have working right now or how high the volume of orders are with people stuck at home.

Not only do they take a long time to ship it out, but they seem to "batch ship" to Canada, so they wait until they have a truck load or some other container full before the orders leave them. Then when the batch arrives at our big distribution centres, it takes quite a while to sort them there in order to get them out to the rest of the country.
My kits were always at least a month late. However, the last order I placed for a couple of dies on sale arrived surprisingly quickly. Those fit into an envelope, though, so didn't go through the parcel shipping process.

I ordered from them once and never again. They get some great exclusives but it’s still a big fat no from me.

Well crap, I ordered from them today for the first time in ages. I only did because they had something in stock that Scrapbook.com didn’t. I hope I don’t regret it!

I ordered from Simon Says Stamp today for they had everything I wanted. Otherwise I would have had to order from several online stores.
They have a wonderful online store if they would get their shipping part straightened out. One time they will mail out a package the next day, the next time it might be several days before they mail a package out.

I thought SSS had gotten a lot better about this. I haven’t shopped there for quite a while but last time I did (probably late last year) they were getting things out pretty promptly. That’s frustrating to hear. I will be forgiving once it’s in the mail - then it’s just slow FedEx trucks or whatever, driving my stuff on a road trip through the nowhere towns of the middle and west (that’s usually Joann) but it annoys me when the item doesn’t get picked, packed and shipped promptly.
Hope you get a shipping notification really soon!

I thought I'd mention it since at least this way, you know that it's not just COVID slowing down all order fulfillment; instead, it sounds like they dropped the ball on your order. I'd be frustrated too. Now that you know your order is an outlier, maybe you can contact them and ask what's going on. (Years ago, I placed my very first order with Simon Says Stamp. I ordered some stamps and some Hero Arts daubers. A few weeks went by and my order hadn't shipped, so I emailed them and asked what was happening and they said the daubers were out of stock so that's why they hadn't shipped my order. It was frustrating because at the time I ordered them, they were in stock and they hadn't emailed me and asked what I'd prefer for them to do, they just were completely radio silent. So maybe that's happening here, which is completely unacceptable. Mistakes happen, but customer communication is vital.)

I honestly don't know how they stay in business. I stopped ordering from them years ago because I find it unacceptable. They are also on eBay so I have to be careful when I am looking for something that it is from them!

I’m about 2 hours away-last order took 10 days to process let alone ship. Check everywhere else first.

They used to be much slower in shipping and then got better. But now it's not them but the USPS that is taking forever for packages to show up. I don't order anything on reserve as that will hold up your order. I think everyone is struggling after the shut down with covid and new procedures. Amazon was not much better and it has taken awhile to get them back on their feet as well. I do have good luck when i email or call them at customer service. It usually gets my package moving!

I know I had an order a little bit ago that took forever, and that I made sure to check that nothing was a reserve item when I placed the order. When I went in to check why it still hadn't shipped after two weeks, one of the items was now marked as reserve. I've suspected since then that inventory holds up some of the orders - the website shows it is in stock, but the website inventory is off and if they know they have more coming soon, they just hold on to the order. When they should really ship the rest of the order and send that item along later. I'm willing to cut them some slack because of covid and because of the USPS challenges - but when some orders are being shipped out the next day and some are still in processing after 10 days, that indicates some other problem with their fulfillment system. The USPS challenges don't come into play until after the order ships.

I found they had gotten better before the Pandemic. I shop there because they have the cheapest shipping to Canada of any store in the US, and they have a good selection. I usually wait anywhere from 2 weeks to a month which is worth it for the $7.99 shipping but still frustrating.

So I sent them an email asking what is going on. They responded, quickly, and said they are delayed but hope to have it processed and in the mail soon. sigh...
Then I get to wait for USPS to deliver it, which will take another 2 weeks I'm sure!

I don't think it's anything to do w/USPS. The delay is in getting the product out the door. That's on SSS. And it shouldn't take a phone call or email to get them to efficiently move product from order to shipment.

I ordered the day after you curiouscrafter and I've got the same results as you. I ordered on August 15th. I'm sorry they have "delays" but make it abundantly clear on your website that there are shipping delays due to COVID-19 staffing requirements or whatever the cause is so that you leave people wondering. I rarely order from them and this is why - no communication and "slow as molasses in winter" shipping. I should know better. They were this way when they were an eBay seller a million years ago. I will say that I am still excited to get the September kit I ordered. I will be furious if there is some inventory issue and they don't send it to me because it's now sold out. I did mention in my email to them that I want the entire order cancelled if that's the case (I just got the kit with a some extra sequins and some envelopes). I hope we get our shipping notices soon.

Apparently my order shipped 8/28, and I guess the notification went to my spam. I’m just thankful it’s on its way and set to arrive Monday.
I hope anyone that is waiting, gets their order soon!

I’m like most of you on this thread.... I only order from them when there are no other options and it’s something I really “need”. Their non-existent/ poor communication, slow shipping and poor customer service turned me off years ago.

I wonder why it's so random? I haven't ever had a problem with a delay unless it's a reserve item. I order from them 3-4 times a month, and I usually always have it in a few days. Definitely never longer than a week.
I wouldn't want to wait weeks, either!
