I hate them!!
These are containers that might hold hand cream or things of that sort. There is SO much waste! There is no way to get it all out. I had some Mary Kay face cleanser in a big squeezable container and I could not get one more drop out, so I cut off the top and there was enough for a good two weeks left in there! It's stupid.
And then I went to make myself some chicken salad and the mustard is the same thing! The top of the mustard is so tiny you can't really fit anything in it, so unless you want to cut an opening (I do not), you lose a good amount.
Are these really the best designs they can com up with?

I agree, it’s really stupid. I mean the stuff is in there so they aren’t saving money by doing that. It’s just wasteful.

Do you read Bill Bryson's books? In one of his earliest books, he says to someone, a propos of nothing at all "there is always a little more toothpaste left in the tube" which made me chuckle. But ever since, I think about it every time I squeeze a tube of anything. It made me stop buying tubes wherever possible.

Win win for them. They can honestly claim that there’s 6oz in the tube, but you can only access 5 of them, so you buy sooner

It’s more wasteful than deceptive packaging lol. At least then they are really making that extra money for the scam

those containers aren't filled to the brim anyway. for some stuff, we aren't wasting what wasn't there in the first place.

I always cut any plastic containers to get the last drop out and I cut the toothpaste tube open too. I have a special serrated knife that slices right through those plastic containers. It only takes a few seconds and just seems wasteful not to.

I always cut the bottle or tube in half or thirds and use a mini spatula to scoop out the remnants into a mini jar.
My CC Cream is too expensive to waste even a drop. Once I transfer the remnants, I get about another week or two or three worth of product.

I mean the stuff is in there so they aren’t saving money by doing that. It’s just wasteful. It likely costs them literal pennies to put the product in. They are selling you 6 oz which costs them (for example) 30 cents plus another 30 cents for packaging, but they charge you $6.00 for the product. You may think you're paying $1/ounce, but you can only get 5 oz out, so you are paying $1.20/ounce and you buy new product faster. Unless, of course, you are like femalebusiness and make sure you get what you pay for

What? yup. you ever hold some of those tubes up to the light? halfway at best on lots of them. same with cereal, chips, etc. the pure liquid bottled some are often to the top. bagged, boxed, or tubes? not so much. yeah, it was an eye opener for me too. it was like finding out about Santa all over again. LOL

LOL headroom, or that was the best container size the mfr determined would be usable, air space, whatever... some product containers would be TINY, tiny, TINY, if they didn't give you a larger size with some headspace in it. That said, I do agree that 'convenience' for the squeeze container (like the mustard you mentioned) leads to a LOT of waste. My DH always says 'just *think* about the obscene amounts of waste from millions of people throwing that half-tablespoon of (insert product name here) away because you can't get it out of the bottle.' Or the 'scrapings' of cat food that stick in the ridges of the cat food can... etc. etc. All for the sake of 'convenience' and 'ease of use.' And some of them aren't really very convenient; squeeze mayo has to be one of the stupidest products I've ever seen. Or the upside-down ketchup bottle? It ALWAYS splats ketchup all over the place when you first open it to get some out. I always cut any plastic containers to get the last drop out and I cut the toothpaste tube open too. I have a special serrated knife that slices right through those plastic containers. It only takes a few seconds and just seems wasteful not to. I'm going to have to start doing this with a lot of things-- I already do the 'binder clip' trick on the toothpaste tube, but a lot of those plastic tubes don't allow you to do that.

I cut off the end, roll it over and close it with a binder clip! Works well!

I have a tiny spatula that I use to get the last bits of everything from moisturizer, lotion, serums, foundation and concealer. It works great and was only $6.

I actually got easily a month of daily makeup when I cut it and put it in a mini jar.

In an effort to get the remaining product, I'm always beating various squeeze tube containers against my bathroom vanity top. It scares my dogs, and alarms my daughter, who thinks I'm angry.
Not a peaceful start to the day or ending before bedtime.

LOL I think you may be missing my point. Whether the tube is filled to brim at the beginning, or only halfway, you cannot get all the product out. In an effort to get the remaining product, I'm always beating various squeeze tube containers against my bathroom vanity top. It scares my dogs, and alarms my daughter, who thinks I'm angry. Not a peaceful start to the day or ending before bedtime. That's too funny! I do it as well and it always startles my pups!

My DD (19) is the worst at using up the last ounce or two from any bottle, tube or container. I just can not wait for her to be purchasing all of this!! I bought a squeeze thingy from Bed Bath, and Beyond a few years ago for toothpaste. Works great!

I use the Smart Funnel, too. It works great with bottles. In fact, I used it today on shampoo.

I take it as a personal challenge to see JUST how many MORE days worth of toothpaste I can get out of the tube before having to pitch it! Oftentimes when I think we’re at the end of the road, I can easily get another week out of it.
