DD27 is thinking of getting one. But it looks like they are about $2500 + the app.
I know nothing about them but what makes them so special?? (not being snarky, just wondering).
She was also looking at the Myx (??) which is about half as much.
She contacted Peloton about a refurbished one and that program has ended.
Back in the dark ages I bought some workout machines and used them for about a month...
What makes it a $2500 bike?

I wish I could rent one and make sure I use it before I buy one. I had no interest in this until the big backlash over their ad. So I started looking into it a little, and really want one! Not in the budget now though.

The bike is actually $2200. If you buy the whole package (HRM, shoes, mat, weights), then I think it's $2500. I didn't buy all the extra stuff bc I already had it.
I ride mine at least 3x/week, and also do strength training and stretching classes through the app. What separates it from other bikes are the classes. The instructors are amazing, and the community of Pelotoners is so supportive as long as you stay away from the FB group. Those people are way more savage than this place has ever been LOL!
I got mine with zero interest financing, so with the monthly payment + the subscription, it's still cheaper than my gym.
It has honestly helped me keep my sanity through this pandemic. I go on the bike, and tune everything else out. I just love it!!!

I got a fauxleton a couple months ago and combine it with the peloton digital membership. I got an IC4 for the bike (actually a Bowflex C6 - same thing) for less than half the price and I pay $12.99 for the monthly app membership which is weirdly way cheaper than getting a membership with the bike.
I got this recommendation from someone on this board who did the same thing (I’m blanking on who it was). Anyway, I’m very happy with and have been using it for 2 months now.

My daughter has had hers for over a month and loves it. Me, not so much. I’m one of the only few that don’t enjoy it at all.

That is what I have too and I LOVE it, super quiet, super smooth, super compact. With a Dick’s 10% off and rakuten it was under 800 and I couldn’t be happier. Busy is the one who told me about it on here.

I’ve had mine for a month. I bought it due to the uncertainty of the gym. I absolutely love it. Such a great workout and the instructors are amazing. The music is great and the classes are very motivating. It is a HARD workout!

I got this recommendation from someone on this board who did the same thing (I’m blanking on who it was). It was probably busy, as that is the setup she has. DD has had one for 2 months now and loves it. Not only does she do the spin classes, but there are so many other exercise and stretch classes to choose from. I have done one scenic ride on it and really like the bike. With the bike subscription, you are able to have 3-4 other people on that same subscription. I am on DD's, but use it here for weight classes and stretching.

I've used the Peloton equipment and it's great. Undeniably very nice. But I do have the Schwinn IC4 and am quite happy with it and don't regret getting it rather than the Peloton at all. I opted for it at the beginning of shelter-in-place for a few reasons
1. I wasn't sure I would like spin as an ongoing activity during SIP, much less beyond. It's never been a thing I particularly enjoyed before. I didn't want to drop a lot of money into something I wasn't convinced I was going to use long-term. (And I know myself, it would be a long time before I admitted fully enough to myself that I wasn't going to use it and sold it, to the point there would probably be a new version and I'd lose a consider amount of money.) 2. I wasn't sure I'd stick with a home workout routine after SIP lifted, so I didn't want to invest a ton of money into my equipment, only to forsake it for returning to the gym in a few months. 3. I like variety in my workouts, so I wanted weights, a Pilates reformer and a few other things for my home gym, not just a Peloton. I wanted a sweet spot between quality and price, given #1 and #2. 4. A friend who is a spin instructor (and pretty damn picky lol) chose the Schwinn over the Peloton for her home bike and loved it.
Spending 3x as much on the Peloton compared to the Schwinn just didn't seem like the best choice to me.
I've fallen in love with the content on Peloton, but I still don't feel like I need to upgrade to the Peloton bike. I'm totally happy with my setup and believe me, it's surprising that I don't want to upgrade. I'm kind of a brat that way.
So, that's my personal experience.

I ride mine every day. I love it and don't regret buying it at all. I've got my favorite instructors and it's my "me time." And I HATE to exercise. Seriously. I HATE it. But for whatever reason, I don't mind this. I like all the data that's produced and I go over my rides and compare them to previous rides - it fits the nerd in me very well.

Love mine. Starting using the app in December for yoga and strength. And then I added a cheap bike off amazon but I had no way to see my residence (I did buy a cadence monitor so I was able to see that). I also just had cages. Anyway, I wasn’t going to get the peloton. Much more than I wanted to spend. Spin was ok but not great. Then I wandered into a showroom and tried the peloton. I knew I’d be getting it after that. I was rear ended and I decided to use my settlement (after fixing the car of course) for the bike because it was “free money.” Best decision ever! I love spinning now - the actual peloton made a big difference for me. Note- I had a pretty crappy non peloton bike - not a Good set up like some others have mentioned here. I got my bike at the beginning on April. Anyway, now dh has started using it and is loving it, too. Which is fine as long as he continues to remember to adjust back to my settings each time because it’s MY bike.

I use the pelaton app regularly with my own treadmill and equipment. The app has wonderful classes in all areas - boot camp, cardio, strength, stretch, yoga, spin, running.
I think you can’t do the live classes without the actual pelaton equipment but I’m not bothered by that.

I use the app as well. I don't have a bike but I do the cycling workouts on my elliptical. I also do the walking and strength workouts regularly. paigepea you can do the live workouts with the app. I've only done a handful but they are fun to be part of the group.

We bought one in March of this year. I don't like gyms. I only used a Peloton one time at a hotel. My real bike sits collecting dust in the garage. But I love the Peloton. I ride 4-5 days a week and have never stuck to any type of exercise routine. If I don't ride, I try to do some type of strength or yoga class. I'm definitely getting my money's worth.

I LOVE mine. Dh bought it for me in January 2019. I've done 638 rides. I have ridden 2611 miles so far this year. I had never ridden a spin bike or taken a spin class before we got it. I had done road biking but had never been interested. I have 4 kids (ages 2, 4, 7, 9), so being able to work out at home has been huge.
Personally I think the bike is worth the price tag. Yes it is totally doable with a less expensive one. The metrics and feedback on the actual bike are what makes it worth the price.
Peloton has also done an incredible job creating a social community around the bike. I am only on facebook still because of those groups. They have groups for everything you can imagine, lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, mom's, triathletes, regional groups, nutrition, instructor specific groups, cocktails, book clubs, and on and on. I am a huge believer in the Power Zone Pack, which uses the power zone rides - coached by Denis, Matt, Olivia, and Christine and creates 6-8 week challenges to promote endurance and performance improvement. I have seen huge gains in my fitness and love it.
I have ridden every day (except father's day) since April 1. It has allowed me to remain sane with 4 kids and a husband working from home. I'm happy to answer any questions! Also if anyone needs it, any of us owners can give you a code for $100 off the accessory package!
Additional note!! I had to switch out my seat - I have wider sitz bones than the seat is meant for, I went to my local bike shop and had them measure my sitz bones and got a seat based on their recommendations - game changer for me. Also I have really wide feet, so I had to get different shoes.

And me to the love and ride mine daily list!!! Best money I’ve spent on myself in years. I’ve only had mine for 3 months and I’ve already noticed a huge improvement in my physical health, mental health and body. I used to be a member of a spin studio so I knew how important it was to have a good bike.

I got Torch 2.0 Road Shoes we stretched them too and they are working well. I got them at about 150 rides in because I was having some numbness and discomfort in my toes. They have worked really well!

How important is it to get shoes that clip in? I bought the ic4 and it was just delivered so I’m going to set it up this weekend and use it with the peloton app. I’ve only ever used regular tennis shoes at gyms. Is it into start with tennis shoes and then get the ones that clip in?

I've had one since July of '16. Just finished 1500 rides earlier this week. It's been the best investment in my health. I haven't had any maintenance issues with the bike although I did get a new monitor when the original monitor would no longer update.
