If you print your photos at home, have you noticed any of the colors fading on your photos? I know in sunlight the photos will fade but if your photos are in albums on a shelf the sunlight shouldn't be a factor. I've been thinking about printing more photos at home for the convenience of scrapping when inspiration strikes but I am afraid the photos will fade over the years.

Yes. I printed most of my 2016 December Daily at home and the photos have definitely faded despite printing on canon paper with canon ink. That’s was an older pixma though. I only print on my current cannon if it’s holding me back because I forgot to print one photo or I want a photo that isn’t a standard size.

When I used my Canon printer, yes.It would fade. Now I only print at home with my Epson Photomate.

I print almost all of my photos at home on my Canon Pixma, an older model. I haven't had any photos fade, even the ones that live on the refrigerator or framed up on the walls.

I've been printing at home for years with my Epson Picturemate (currently use the PM-400) and have never had a fading issue.

mom, I haven't followed the picture mate threads. Is it the same printing system as the Canon Selphy? (three colour layers and a finishing layer?) The photos I printed 18 years ago on CM ink jet photo paper with my HP ink jet have definitely faded.

It's good to hear people have had good experiences! Most people I've polled on the various facebook groups I'm in have also had similar experiences with Epson or Canon. HP? Notsomuch.

Now I'm nervous because I have and use an HP!! I haven't seen any fading but I haven't had it long enough for that, anyway. But I do big batches of photos at Persnickety Prints, with only some printing at home. so hopefully most of the photos will be okay.

I haven't noticed any fading in older (2012ish) PL albums. Older Canon Pixma on various papers.
I have had pens that were supposed to be OK to use on photos develop a yellow halo on home printed photos, but that's a whole different issue!
