Our master bath has a separate tub and walk-in shower with a glass door. When we remodeled the guest bath, the kids were still here, so for the tub/shower combo we put in a curtain because we knew the kids would not take care of glass doors and they would get crusty and water-spotted. But now that the kids are (mostly) gone, we are exploring glass door options.
It's funny because older homes around here (50s/60s built) had glass doors in the tub/shower combos. Then people started ripping them out and putting in shower curtains. Then in the last 10 years, the doors became popular again.

we have tub/shower combos with shower curtains. We're currently househunting and one of the things on my list is a separate shower (no tub). I really really really don't want sliding shower doors again - we had that at the last house and they were awful to clean (hard water)

I hated leaning over the tracks to give the baby a bath. The only house I've ever had a shower door was when I had my first baby and I agree with this. So irritating. Plus only being able to really access half the tub for bathing a little one. I am firmly in the bathtub/shower curtain club. And I currently have three different shower curtains and three rugs and sets of towels. I change mine out every time I clean my bathroom. It keeps it interesting.

This is my take on shower door/shower curtain. In new build homes depending on price point is what you are probably going to get (I am generalizing).. The lower end homes or what they call first time home buyers (similar to my house that I bought 20 years ago), come with a three piece bath. Sink, toilet and tub/shower combo. The builders are not going to put anything in extra unless the homeowners pay up front for it, so if you wanted shower doors you would pay to upgrade that, otherwise you get a tub with showerhead. Then you use a curtain.
More higher end homes you probably would be a shower separate from a tub. The shower would probably be a walkin with a door. Tub no curtain needed since you are only using for baths.
Of course, there are many other options, like walkin types, tubs that do come with doors, etc.
So unless you are remodeling and choosing whatever you want, you either get the bare bones, pay for upgrade or it comes with the build of the house.
All older homes that I have seen varies a lot... sliding doors to curtains. I have had both. The doors if not kept clean can get very moldy icky in the tracks and unreachable places, which is why I like a shower curtain/liner. I can either toss the liner in the washing machine or just replace. The curtain can be pretty and last as long as you want to change it out. I seem to change mine about every eight years or so. Sometimes a lot sooner or others that I love so much I keep forever it seems. ha.
IF I had the money to remodel my bathroom I would take out the tub and have a shower only and a walk out if possible.
Edited to add: My shower curtain rod is like a semi-circle so it bows out, so there is no sticking to my body anywhere. The liners have magnets on the bottom to keep in place as well.

I hate shower curtains. I renovated my shower a couple years ago and got a glass door. I wish I could have done the walk in, but that was out of my budget as I would have had to change the shower floor plan. Next home I will absolutely have a walk in. Best thing EVER.
Most homes here have shower curtains. My other two bathrooms have them. They are cheaper for builders, for sure. I have friends who took out their glass door and put a shower curtain in. Really!!!
But the shower curtain has never blown on me. I use a liner on all my showers.

We do new construction plumbing in Houston and almost all of the houses we plumb have tub/shower combos with shower curtains in the secondary bathrooms.

I voted shower door, but we actually have both. Our master bath has a separate shower with a door, but our guest bath has a shower inside the tub with a curtain.

I have both a stand alone shower with doors and a tub with doors, but I'm in the process of a remodel and my shower is being turned into a shower with a pony wall and glass above that...no door, no curtain. The tub bathroom will have a shower curtain. The doors make it such a PITA to clean the tub, AND you have to wipe down the doors because of hard water spots. It's my guest bathroom, so idc if someone hates a shower curtain or not....if you want to shower at my house you'll have to cope with a curtain.

I chose other. I have a walk in without a door. That's what we have in our bathroom along with a soaker tub. The other full baths have tub/shower combos with shower curtains. Our old house had a full bath in the basement with a fiberglass-like folding slider that fit in the tracks. It was a marvel of 1970s engineering for sure. We never changed it out because that bathroom very rarely was actually used for bathing.

We just moved into our house three years ago. It was built in 2003 and has shower/tub combos in both of the full baths. In our master bathroom we will probably one day renovate and do a large walk in shower with glass door. I'd love a soaking tub too but that would require more room and thus more money so doubtful. By then dd will be out of the house so I'd just use her bathroom for a relaxing bath. I love baths.
In our old house we just had one tiny bathroom with a shower/tub combo. It had a sliding glass door when we bought the house but after dd was born we took it out and had a shower curtain. It made it hard to give her a bath with that stupid rail and the door in the way. The bathroom was tiny enough and that made it seem smaller.

We have three full baths. The master has shower glass that has become permanently etched because of our extremely hard water and the fact that I didn’t know this could happen, so never sealed it or dried it after showering. It looks like crap, but we are currently in the process of doing a full bathroom remodel. I’m still trying to figure out the shower/tub configuration, and how to avoid the scuzzy bottom frame.
DS’s bath is an all in one with a shower curtain that I actually love—a madras plaid patchwork in navy, cream and red. The downstairs bath is a shower only with a cream matelasse shower curtain, which I also kind of like. I realize with this thread I don’t mind shower curtains, but I do like the light that comes with having glass.

I have a glass-enclosed shower and a separate tub. My son's room has a tub with shower curtain. I plan on removing the tub and installing a shower with glass enclosure in its place.

We built our house three years ago. We don’t have doors on any of our 3 bathrooms. Our main bathroom is a tub/shower combo with a curtain. The master has a walk-in shower, no door and downstairs shower has a curtain. We hate the look of doors and cleaning the doors/tracks. We debated putting in a tub but decided to for resale. Or the possibility of grandkid’s down the line, coming to visit.

I am perfectly happy with a fabric curtain for our tub/shower. I've never been a fan of doors on a tub/shower, but if I had just a shower that might be a differrent story. I do not like plastic curtains though, just fabric.

i've been in houses where i've seen up to two curtains. that plastic liner and some fabric drapey decorative one. i can just imagine the mold or mildew accumulating in those especially in baths that gets lots of use from multiple dwellers.
i have doors and i squeegee the walls and doors down before i get out. this is more to keep the standing moisture down but it keeps the water spots at bay for the most part.

I have one bathroom with a tub shower combo that had sliding doors that I removed and replaced with a shower curtain/liner. So much easier to clean now.
The other two bathrooms have showers with doors. Not glass, acrylic maybe? They are textured and I hate them. When we redo our bathroom I am getting a doorless shower. I had that in my last house and it is the best thing ever. I will probably put a glass door on the other bathroom when we redo it.

Most houses have the tub/shower combo and some have doors (the ones with a track squick me out) ans some have a curtain. We have always used a shower liner (magnetic) and curtain.
Newer houses tend to have a stand alone shower more than older houses

shower curtain $1 - $10. glass door is several hundred or more. mine was 1300.
that's one reason why.

There are many reasons you might prefer a shower curtain; they're easier to keep clean since you have a vinyl liner inside that you can easily replace if it gets grungy (well, i guess that's not cleaner, but it is convenient) and whenever you're tired of the curtain you can change it up.
But you didn't give an option for "both". The two guest baths have a shower in the tub, with curtains, but in my master there is a standalone walk-in shower with a door and a separate tub. I don't really have a preference but i do like to change up the shower curtains, artwork, and towels just to give it a different feel.

I take showers only.
Currently, I have a combo bathtub/shower with a glass door.
My perfect bathroom, would be a walk in large shower(no tub) with a built in bench seat, with a glass door.

It's about the same amount of glass as a car door window, maybe a little bigger...it will probably need wiping down, but the amount of water that hits it is minimal as it will be right by the shower head. What is accomplished is I don't have huge doors to squeegee and wipe down. Just a little window.

Separate shower with glass. We do squeegee and wipe after every shower and I never use bar soap, only liquid. Keeps the shower super clean!

My DH loathes shower curtains with a passion. I hate how the cold fabric gets sucked in and wraps itself around me. On holiday in Greece, the bathroom was a wet room with a shower curtain. Yeah, I know . I used plastic pegs and the cord that we brought in case there was no drying line. I pegged one side of the curtain to the door hook and the other to the plastic bin balanced on the toilet. Haha! In our house we have one corner shower cubicle with a glass door, and one bath with a glass screen, which is not on your list. No cold wraps.

We have two separate showers in our home, both with frameless glass doors. If I had a combo tub/shower I would definitely prefer a curtain. Glass doors in tracks on a tub are impossible to keep clean.

I have a shower tub combo in an old house, 1940's. It has glass doors on a track AND I have a shower curtain with a cloth liner hanging in front of it becaise I hate the look of the open shower. The tracks are a pia the clean but that's life.

I have a shower with a glass door and a bathtub/shower with a glass door. I despise shower curtains. I’ve never had one in any home I’ve lived in. I hate them blowing into you while you shower, I hate that it makes the tub dark with no light coming in like glass doors do and I hate how water always gets on the floor outside the tub no matter how careful you try to be, My dream would be a walk in shower that has no doors.

We have shower curtains with tubs in both of our upstairs bathrooms. Not a preference thing, necessarily. Just the way our bathrooms are set up.

Tub/shower combo in both our full baths with shower curtain/ liner combo. NEVER shower doors. I have an irrational fear of the door not opening and getting stuck. I won’t close the doors tightly if I’m in a hotel with shower doors.
