Thanks to the peas, I placed an order during the 60% off paper sale, and because it was 60% off I splurged and got the Authentique Calendar collection which was regular price 49.99. The sale brought it down to 19.99, which I normally don’t ever pay that much for, but since it was Authentique brand I was expecting it to be the extra nice quality paper. Got it today and noticed right away that the colors didn’t seem very vibrant. Then I felt the paper, and it’s just regular smooth card stock with no texture or extra weight like other Authentique paper I have. Very bummed! Anyone else have this happen? I did notice on the photo on the joanns listing it says “fine quality archival paper”, but the one I received just says “archival paper”. I haven’t decided if I’ll keep it or not, but I’m wondering how to get the better quality one. I’ll contact Joanns and see what they say, but wanted to see if anyone had dealt with this before. ETA: Maybe I'm losing it!! I thought I remembered my older Authentique paper having texture to it, but when I actually took it out and compared, it's smooth too. So the colors just seem a little less vibrant than I thought they would be. I will probably just keep it, and grumble a little that I paid $20 for it! I did get a couple other things at 60% off that I'm very happy with.

What a bummer! I don't think you're losing it...I seem to remember that when Authentique started, their papers DID have texture! It's been a lot of years so I could be wrong, so hopefully another Pea can confirm. Their style has never been my personal cup of tea so I don't have any papers that I could check myself.

I think Authentique makes some papers in both the smooth and the textured. Just depends on the store which version they carry.

When it’s manufactured for mass production for big box stores, and put into the pads/paper kits, it’s the smooth type cardstock.
