I went to lunch AT A RESTAURANT with 3 girlfriends today. Outside on the patio, at a long time favorite place in Pike Place Market, which happens to be the last restaurant I dined at on March 2. I can't believe it's been 6 months. It was hea-ven-ly. I have missed the social aspect of dining out so much! The protocols the restaurant has in place, and their firm, unwavering, but kind manner of going about it all sealed the deal for me. We all felt safe and pretty darned comfortable all things considered. I think for those of us who are single and live alone it may be a bit more difficult to make the decision since we're sharing the table with friends, KWIM? After lunch, as you can imagine, I feel like I have a smiley emoticon floating about 2' above my head right now. I know, I'm way behind the times compared to a lot of you, but we all take these things on our own pace, yes? Anyhow, thanks for listening And to totally change the subject, what are you up to this weekend? Something fun? Same old same old? Or...?I'll be home, slowly plugging away at the last closet to be purged. I've been meaning to get through them since the beginning of the pandemic. This coming Wednesday I'm having the carpets cleaned so it's "do or die" time to get stuff organized and off the floor. I'll be so glad to have this behind me. It's really not all THAT much work, but my motivation factor has been very low, so I psyche myself out about it.

So glad you got out! Before the pandemic, I almost never chose to eat outdoors when there was a nice air conditioned dining room; however, I've discovered that patio dining can be really pleasant.
I'm tending a husband recovering from surgery. Today I rearranged the living room furniture around him as I'd moved one of my chairs to my mother's new room at memory care. Found a forgotten table in her basement to make my new arrangement work. I think my grandfather must have made this simple table for my parent's home in the late 1950's when he an my other grandfather built the house for them. It is a simple mid-century modern look. After I finally got it clean, I love it.
So this weekend is more tidying up. I was at mother's for over 2 weeks - 24/7 - and my house is still a mess.

So glad you tried dining out. We have been dining outside and have discovered some patios that will be fine in the winter.
This weekend we will be sticking close to home. Long weekends feel like covid parties 😬. My girls will each see a friend in the yard. Maybe a walk or bike ride each day. Perhaps a meal out or maybe just order in with some friends in the yard. New normal 😩.

I’ve done outdoor dining a couple of times here, and thought it went fine. It really is nice to have hot food you didn’t make!
My husband is taking our eldest to college this weekend, so I am wrangling the other kids and trying to stay cool.

MichyM glad you got to get out and enjoy yourself. Getting out feels so good.
Today I got my hair colored and cut it feels so good and I was happy to see my colorist. She has been doing my hair for 17 years. It was so nice to talk to someone face to face.
It’s going to be hot here all weekend so no plans in going anywhere. The forecast is 110 and it’s usually at least 5 degrees warmer on our shaded patio. Hoping for no rolling blackouts. I did the laundry today. We got pizza tonight and going to watch tv and read a book. I just got my scrapbook subscription that has two layouts a month for the next four months. I’m hoping to start putting them together sans photos this weekend. I’m sure I won’t finish but if I do I have the ones from the rest of this year that also need to be assembled. My goal is to have them all completed by the end of the year. The Hallmark channels are doing a couple of marathons this weekend I hope to watch. I’m hoping for a nice quiet weekend.

We’ve eaten out on patios only so far. And I will be so sad when the weather will be too cold for that. I’m not feeling like eating inside a restaurant for a long time yet.
We were supposed to go camping, hiking, and kayaking this weekend, but my daughter has too much work for school. We’re going to do just the hiking and kayaking part. The weather is gorgeous here for the weekend.
All this talk about getting hair done makes me really want to make an appointment. I haven’t had my hair highlighted since the beginning of March and I could really use the pick me up. I think I might do that next week.

We were doing curbside pick up in the beginning until our indoor dining opened up, and then we have been doing that about 2x a month. I hate cooking on the wkends. Tonight we went to our locl bar and ate outside on the patio. It started to feel cool though. It's definetly fall here.
What are we doing this wkend? it's the dreaded clean out the closets wkend. This would have been the wk we would have gone to the MN state fair, which was cancelled, so our dd came home. the other one lives close by, and we are cleaning out their childhood rooms and closets. Ooooh My. we haven't killed each other, but about 2pm we are done with each other. We started at 9am. 11 garbage bags later. 2 boxes of donated stuff and they each have about 2 bins filled with stuff they want to keep. We ripped out the carpet in the one dd's room, and we are going to paint and put new carpet in. We got a LOT done. But every bone in my body hurts. ugh.

This weekend....
Saturday we are driving to Reno (3 hours one way) to buy a 121 wakeboard for my 9 year old who has been riding my 134 wakeboard. We’ll probably stop at Lake Tahoe and Silver Lake on the way home. Going there and back in one day with a 9 and 4.5 year old.
Sunday will be picking up and mask sewing.
Monday- no clue. Probably vegging out.
I’m planning a screen break because I’ve had really bad headaches with spots and dizziness from time to time for the past 4 days due most likely to massive amounts of screen use during distance learning. So low to no screen usage Saturday and Sunday.

That sounds so wonderful, I can't wait until I'm able to get together with friends.
We've been working outside digging up bushes with more of the same for the weekend.

I’ve only done outdoor dining or takeout since sometime in March. My husband and I did our first date night at a restaurant since then last Friday. We had a table for two in an isolated section of the sidewalk at a German restaurant and it was very nice.
This weekend we have the oldest son and his wife coming for one night to drop off my mama. She’ll stay with us a week and then they’ll pick her back up. It will be nice to have a long visit with her.

So sorry about the mess but I’m glad you’re happy with the furniture arrangement. I’m so boring, I pretty much buy a piece of furniture to go in a spot and there it stays. How long are you going to be taking care of your husband, and is he recovering well?

We're heading to Nebraska to see family for the first time since Christmas! We'll be hanging out at my Dad's lake on Sunday--it's going to be almost 100* and there's no place I'd rather be on a hot day. We wanted to go over the 4th of July weekend, but we also didn't want to risk anything since DS was in the middle of his baseball season. I wish we were worrying about his football season, but for now that's on hold because the district insists on starting school online and the state says any district online can't do activities... So we're going. I also want to go because I don't think I've ever NOT gone out to the lake during the summer in my 44 years of life (maybe in 1998 because we got married in mid-May and I moved to DC where DH was living).

Glad you got out and enjoyed it MichyM ! I patio dined and drank tonight with three friends. I needed a good steak and martini! It felt nice to wear real clothes and makeup. I actually blew dry my hair and flat ironed. The whole shebang! 😂 I’ve only done patio dining since restaurants opened up. I’ve felt pretty comfortable with it but am still careful and have only been like twice a month. Partly because it’s HOT here in the summer. Bleck. No fun if your sweat is dripping into your baked potato. 🥵

How long are you going to be taking care of your husband, and is he recovering well? He had an anterior hip replacement which was supposed to be much easier than a posterior one. It is in that he has no limitations of movement other than what he feels in pain and swelling. It is just that he has far more swelling and pain than with the posterior one he had a few years ago. They had to 'scrape out more stuff' my stepdaughter tells me the doctor said. He also tends to run a low grade fever in the evenings after surgery. He's had chills some nights. It hasn't escalated but I've just got to keep an eye on him. He is taking pain medicine longer than with past surgeries, not much but he can't drive of course. We expect that by the time he has his post op on Friday he will be past the worst of this.

That sounds heavenly. I miss great restaurants!
I just finished playing tennis and now I’m sitting outside enjoying some slightly cooler weather. Just slightly. Later I’m planning to nag my husband to clean up his office so I can have some space back up there. All of my craft stuff disappeared under his sporting goods.

We're at the lake this weekend.
Last night I let the dogs out and looked up at the sky and happened to see a shooting star. It was the longest, most brilliant shooting star I have ever seen. It literally looked like it was going to land in the lake. It made my weekend!
