I am so sorry to hear this. I loved listening to Car Talk even though I really don't care about cars that much. The two brothers were so entertaining, the subject matter didn't really concern me.

I am in shock... I have listened to them since they first went nationally broadcasted, (AFRTS carried them) I knew Tom had health conditions, and why most shows recently were rebroadcasts. Wow!

Wow...we love listening to that show, even though they are all older re-runs.

Awww, I always loved that show. I didn't realize he had Alzheimer's -- such an awful disease.

I am so so sad. I used to listen to them every Saturday while doing paperwork for a job I had, and still listen to their podcasts. He was a cool dude!

So sad. DH and I love their show. They are both so smart and witty and entertaining.

I feel the same way. I could care less about cars, but I loved the show. I think they could have done a show about anything and made it fun and interesting.

That's sad. Like many others, I enjoyed listening to them despite no real interest in cars.

Somehow I never realized there were a dozen years between them. Nor did I realize the re-runs had been airing for two full years already.

I didn't realize he was sick. I have heard the show on the radio before but I didn't listen to it often. However, I almost always read their article in the newspaper every Saturday in the Automobile section.

How very sad. I love Car Talk. He was such a warm funny man - he definitely gave my Dh and me the gift of laughter on numerous occasions.
May he rest in laughter, because I think he'd prefer that to peace.

Truly sad that such a terrible disease removed such wonderful laughter from the world. I feel so bad for his family - his brother especially - as well as his station "family" he worked with for so many years. As others said, I think he could have made absolutely any subject entertaining. What a gift he's left to those of us who've enjoyed his career.

I listen to it every Saturday morning in the kitchen before "Wait Wait..." My kids are going to be so sad - they love them. Especially the credits at the end. Sometimes we had to sit there and really think about them, like "Customer Service Specialist: Begonia Payne-Diaz" and "Sculling Coach: Rose Dior." Their laughs were so infectious. Love, love, love them. My heart is heavy today.

I was so sad to hear this, especially since he had Alzheimer's. They haven't had a live show in over a year and have been playing reruns since then. I hope they play the reruns forever because it's just a classic!

I too am so sad. I have fond memories of driving boys to and from far away scout camps listening to these to and laughing my head off. (along with the tired boys!)

Aw, I heard this on the radio driving home and it made me so sad. Like many others, I don't really care about cars, but loved listening to the 2 of them - and that laugh! I just loved how much fun they had together.

I listen to them every Sunday on my way home from church and didn't realize they were airing old shows. Color me clueless! I am sad to hear that Tom has died, and I did not know he had Alzheimers. My mother died of Alzheimers at age 77 also.

He will be missed so much at our house. I was listening when they announced that the show was no more and all would be older shows. I now know why. 77 is young to die of Alzheimer's.
