I'm starting to look into a new vehicle and wouldn't mind maybe going electric or hybrid. I absolutely have to have all wheel drive as I live in a snowy state.
Do you own one or have driven one? Do you like it? Would you but it again?
What have you found to be the pros and cons of having an electric vehicle?

I have a plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) Kia Niro and love it. I wasn’t ready to go full electric because we road trip a lot and charging station infrastructure isn’t as developed yet in my area. It seats 5 with a generous cargo space. I can go 35km on my battery before it flips to gas and my battery will regenerate when the gas engine is running. When we are highway driving, I put it in Hybrid mode and the car flips between electric and gas depending on efficiency. I will say that it takes forever to warm up in the winter and our winters are really mild (rarely get below 0 degrees Celsius). My commute to work is 2 kilometres and, in the winter, the battery rarely comes on by the time I get to work because the gas engine is still trying to warm the car up. I have to bundle up for my commute but I’m a West Coast wimp

My dh just replaced his 2005 Hybrid car with a new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid which is all-wheel drive. We love it so far! The only negative I can think of has to do with the buying experience. It's a super in-demand car where we live, and dealers were selling it for way over MSRP. When we put in our zip code in Costco's website,it said they couldn't find any dealers in our area who would sell that car for the Costco price. We had to really do some work online and by phone to get a decent deal, and drove 1.5 hours outside our big city to buy it. It was well worth it to save 5,000 dollars.

I'm in the UK, so our buying experience is different, but we *really* want the hybrid Rav4. Currently we have the Yaris which is too small for us now. I like the hybrid because you get great fuel efficiency without having to rely on electric charging points being available. Also it is silent going round the car park so you can run over pedestrians (j/k, of course!)

I have a 2023 hybrid Prius and I LOVE it.
I’m not ready to go full electric yet because I need 350 miles in one shot to see my relatives.
Mine does not take a long time to warm up, uses the electric mode right away which can be an issue because it’s nearly silent.

We have a Ford Fusion hybrid and really like it. It's not AWD, however. My dream is a Tesla someday, with solar panels on our house.

I’m not sure if there is an all-electric AWD car, is there?
We’ve had hybrids since 2003 and love them. Most of ours have been FWD, but I did have a hybrid Ford Escape with AWD.
In addition to the RAV4, Toyota has a hybrid version of the Highlander in AWD
Subaru has a hybrid version of their Crosstrek.

Also it is silent going round the car park so you can run over pedestrians (j/k, of course!) The fuel efficiency is great for an SUV, but not as good as my Prius. I hear you about the pedestrians, because I teach on a college campus (or did, until March!) where sometimes students walk 3 or 4 across in the road. I don't want to terrify anyone by honking my horn, so I unroll the window a little and turn up the radio:) They always seem so startled to hear my music.

Are you still hooked in to "regular" electric just in case/or if the electric company buys any surplus? Did you buy it outright or is there a leasing plan/something else? What longitude in the world are you? I'm pretty far north, so I'm a little skeptical if we can get 100% of our electric from solar panels. Sorry for all the questions!

I'm pretty far north, so I'm a little skeptical if we can get 100% of our electric from solar panels. Sorry for all the questions! We are still hooked to the grid so that if we need we can pull. If our batteries are full, any overage is pushed back to the grid and we can choose (in colorado) to offset the electric that we use or get a check at the end of the year. If power goes out, we stay live as long as there is charge in the powerwalls. We can choose different setting for the batteries to get maximum use. We have a loan for the system which we will fold into our mortgage in dec (had to have the loan for a year first) We are about 40 degrees north. They will assess your roof and decide proper placement. Ours are on the back and west side of the house. So far this year we have gotten 35% from straight solar, 55.2% from the power wall (charged by the sun), and 9.2% from the grid. We've taken 665 kwh from the grid and pushed back 1927 kwh. Hope that helps

2013 Prius, which replaced a 2007 Prius. It's amazingly reliable, more roomy than you think and it's great getting 50mpg. I don't want to replace it until I have to.
I was actually planning to get a Tesla in a couple of years but Elon Musk is not a good person and that changed my mind.

Please don't buy a Jaguar. Gave us nothing but trouble. In that price range there are lots of better options. Tesla, Cadillac Linque? (not sure on spelling) and some off brand models. I am also looking, and, so far, like the Tesla Y, Rav4, and still want to try the new Volvo. Also wanted to look at the Kia.

Don’t worry, we’re not seriously considering it just because of Jaguar’s reputation, though I do know two people who LOVE their Jaguars. But I also would never buy a Tesla because of Elon Musk. I know, dumb reason. One of my nieces recently bought a BMW i3 and she seems to like it though I haven’t heard her raving about it.

My X is all wheel drive! We have had them both since March 2016. They are fantastic cars! We bought my mil a model 3 - which they also have in all wheel drive. No complaints!!!

We have a 2018 Prius that my DH uses to commute about 120 miles a day during the week. We are in Minnesota so when the weather is bad he takes the interstate because it’s cleared off faster than local roads. We are actually on our 2 nd Prius because the 2008 one he put over 200,000 miles on it.
