scrappieannie Such a cute and well-organised scrap nook! It looks like the smaller drawers would still fit those 6x12 Thickers packages, too. Really neat. scrappyrabbit A fellow living room crafter! I do most of my scrappy play sitting on the floor at the coffee table (hence my screen name due to my buttocks falling asleep when I'm busy on a page). I kind of wouldn't want it to change though. I'd just love a bigger coffee table and some extra storage space but I revel in the "social" aspect of my crafting. A lot of chatting with my SO and Netflix watching while I get busy with paper. It's become a habit. I was a floor scrapper as well! Once COVID started and I was working from home, I got work to pay for a sit/stand desk from Michaels, which also doubles as my scrap desk. There are days where my desk is covered in scrap stuff and I work from the couch, LOL! But since my stash is small anyway, it doesn't take me long to put things away.

OK! I took a bunch of pictures - they're kind of "during" pictures, since I already have my new drawers somewhat organized. I don't want to overdo photo sharing, so I'll show you my basic space/set up and go into details later. You can click any of the pictures to zoom them on Flickr, see all the details. I have my space in the dining room which is right in the middle of my small-ish house. It's about 10 steps to any other part of the house, the kitchen sink is just through the doorway, front door in the other direction. Our house has no hallways so all of the rooms lead onto other rooms. My husband's office (the biggest bedroom) is off this room, directly behind me. I run my little Etsy shop (handmade cards) out of this space as well as crafting/small scale scrapping (and right now there's some extra stuff in there as we sell the contents of my relative's overstuffed house - the wooden swivel office chair next to my desk is leaving soon! It's a toe-killer, stupid old fashioned casters.) Until last week I was crafting on a folding table set at counter height in this spot. I'm still adjusting to a sit down desk. My new vintage desk (from FIL's house, one of EIGHT he had for us to sell!) with a Cost-kog cart that I removed a middle shelf from. The cart used to hold almost everything I had. Currently in transition. September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Behind me is a dining table that my husband raised to counter height by building me some storage underneath. My shop inventory and donation cards live in the bins on this side. The table space behind me is where I pile things like 5lb zucchini bebes. We eat Japanese style at the table in the living room, so this table is mostly here because there's a chandelier above and also not everyone can kneel on the floor. (Not that anyone came over, even before the plague.) September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr The third part of my space is this sideboard which holds eleventy billion lemon juicers we're selling for FIL, shipping supplies and reams of Neenah Solar White in the cabinets, my laptop, and a wide drawer of crafty supplies. The back side of the dining table has envelopes, ScanNCut, and some small plastic containers of card supplies. September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Ta-da! Awesome drawer of fun. I'm still figuring out what will stay here and what will move into my desk. That's all my inks, all my punches, scor tape, some tools I don't use all the time, and random supplies for other crafts. September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr I will come back with more details and open drawer pictures later.

joblackford I love that desk and chair! The padding on the chair reminds me of what my grandparents had in their home. Your room is looking awesome. I'm impressed it looks good with all the extra stuff you are selling.
ETA: I have an old dresser/hutch and if I can get drawers cleaned out, I may move my manual dies there. There is no great space for the doll cupboard currently in our living room though.

I try to keep all the sales stuff in the basement or price it low enough that it leaves within a few days! It's just too much. And it's a multi-year project, most likely, so I need to protect my sanity. This house was severely lacking in drawers at first so even though I don't love the sideboard I do love the storage space it gives me. I'm all about the drawers lately! (Not so keen on dolls or doll cupboards - oh boy!)

(Not so keen on dolls or doll cupboards - oh boy!) There's probably a different name for it, maybe it's a regional thing? You know those play kitchens with the sinks and stuff? This is basically a cabinet/cupboard to that scale if that makes sense. I'll post a photo.

Not the best lighting, but this is what I call a doll cupboard. Stamps are on top in the metal tub. Some of my metal diecuts are in the CD crate. Sizzix and Sizzlit dies are in there and my Tim Holtz platform in a drawer. The cord goes to my Cricut. This is the space that I just kind of put things. I don't have any great storage solutions.

I consider I have a medium sized stash, everything fits on my desktop or in a narrow set of drawers beside it except for one Iris container of paper and a container of thickers, and my scrap room is actually a second desk in my office space. One of the frustrations I have as a small space/small stasher who LOVES organizing videos is that most of them are done by maximalists. So when I look for ways to store my stencils or inks I'm talking about 10 stencils or 30 ink pads, not a wall of them. I have a lot of different things, like most crafters, but not very many of each (3 bottles of Nuvo drops, 2 rolls of minc foil). You'd think that means there's no need to really organize, but storing things correctly so they last and so I can find them when I want them is still a challenge. Do you know what I mean? My supplies are mostly organised pretty well for the way I use them, although there are a couple of hotspots I'd love to find a solution for, and I'd love to see more organising videos for less than a room sized stash.

I sat at my desk and made cards yesterday. The organization seems to be working pretty well so far. Desktop space. I have an old organizer from Martha Stewart that holds my TH stamp platforms, my scoring board, and a little cutting mat. Also holds scissors, wet glue, tape runners if I need them tidied away, and acrylic blocks. Pen cup is an old mug. I think I would like to get a little organizer that Layle by Mail uses on her desk that can hold all those things in their own little slots (link at the end). The washi tape storage container has a space in the sideboard drawer and I put it back after I took the photo (I use washi mostly for envelope decoration so having it next to the drawer of postage works well). Black ink is always out. My current WIPs/to-dos are usually on the desk to get me started. (I'm also rooting some basil.) September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Onto the open drawers! I'm still figuring these ones out but for now my top left drawer has frequently used tools, and my current virus diaries project. I can keep this drawer open while I'm working and turn to grab the tweezers or foam tape. Saves a little space on the desk top. Right side drawer in front of me is where I'm tucking my scraps. There's extra space there for another purpose when I think of it, but this drawer can't open so wide when I'm sitting in front of it, not it will be for less frequently needed things. Small stash organization by jo.blackford, on Flickr Second drawer holds card bases and paper pads and a few unfinished card fronts. The card bases are divided into inventory and personal/donation (like all my stash, I have to keep track for the tax man). This drawer was inspired by JenMcGuire. I'm thrilled to have bases ready to go, right at hand, and having the 6" paper pads here too should be really helpful. They haven't had a home since I reorged my cart. I use open boxes to keep things contained. One was in the recycle after playing the Mins game but I took it back when I got the desk! In the back part I have extra stock of tape runner adhesive and fun foam. The drawer pulls all the way out, unlike some, so it's easy to access. September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr The bottom drawer just became the drawer of coloring - markers in pouches, watercolors, watercolor pencils and crayons, brushes. I have almost all of my coloring things in here, and my embossing powders in plastic containers. I only have 4 colors of embossing powder right now, but might get 1-2 more. The little box in the back was my old embossing supply station, I think I could use that for something else now. I hooked a little Japanese fridge organizer on the side that holds my 3 Nuvo drops and a film canister of sequins. I have a few things in here that should probably be RAKed. September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Behind me: Card inventory, some stray coloring supplies, two little containers with leftover Xmas stash. Behind that: boxes of envelopes, die cuts and other small collections, SNC and its mats (under the tabletop), storage supplies (pouches, magnet sheet, etc). September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr The Cost-kog cart needs a bit of a tidy but it works much better since I took out one level. Top is paper, labels, die cuts in a binder. Middle shelf is stamps, dies, and stencils. Much messier than usual. Bottom shelf is extra stuff I rarely use, some small storage containers I will use or lose, and embossing and drying heat guns. Little magnetic jars hold paperclips, hearts punched from scraps, old SC chipboard stars, and tiny container of sequins I should use or lose. Small stash organization by jo.blackford, on Flickr Paper organization: inspired by Totally Tiffany, using her envelopes and magazine holders, but not her categories. I need to count paper for the tax man so I need to know what's mine and what's business materials. I love having these vertical. The plastic envelopes keep everything safe, including scraps. I have one magazine holder for cardstock, one for patterned paper, one for labels plus my envelope maker and some "inspiration" I never look at, and one spare that used to hold b&w scraps but for now I'm testing keeping my trimmer in it. Bulletin board holds random stuff I can't find a good home for that's pretty and my most used stitched rectangle dies. September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr My die cut binder is my favorite thing - just fits in the gap on the left hand end of the cart top shelf, holds tons of die cuts. I can arrange my puns in pocket pages ready to turn into cards and store extra hellos and sentiment strips. I have a few things that are not so ergonomic (chair) or convenient (big shot, trimmer), but I'm also training myself to slow down and be patient. If I only need to do a few die cuts I sit on the floor. If I need to do a lot I take my things to another spot where I can watch Tv. the thing I might buy for holding pens and things laylebymail.com/collections/tools/products/pink-stash-n-store

Well I have a small space but I'm not very organised at all , I think I make people a bit itchy when they see how I have things. I do have a desk to work at, but by other half has taken over that while he works from home. I have a two compartment Eket that the printer sits on top of and all my papers are underneath. Behind Dave's my desk on the windowsill are a couple of desk organisers holding random things and I plop my inks and punches on the sill too. In a basket under the desk, I have a pile of unused Studio Calico kits (although I keep finding these thoughout the house too..) and little tools like my heat gun. The organiser below from Ikea holds my stamps, pens, washi and stickers. There's also a small box holding embelleshments. They're on a bookshelf. December Daily things are in a box in the wardrobe.
I'm currently working on my Positivity Passport and 30 Lists on the sofa and I've kept my supplies on there, much to my family's annoyance!

Bulletin board holds random stuff I can't find a good home for that's pretty and my most used stitched rectangle dies. September share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Quoting myself to say I took down my bulletin board! I took a picture of my room one morning with the sun streaming through the curtains and it look quite lovely EXCEPT the cluttered mess on the pinboard. And it was one of the first things I saw from the front door every day. So I went through all the things, finding new homes for almost everything. I have a little stack of pretty cards that I want to use somehow, and I might need to add a new hook to my wall for my favorite rectangle dies. Or I could be less lazy and just put them away properly. I would've had to do it before Xmas card time anyway because last year I used the board for displaying my Pea swap cards. But I'd forgotten about that. I'm just enjoying less lately. And admitting to myself that most "inspiration" is just a thing I like that I can't decide what to do with.

Taking photos is one of the best ways to become aware of what's wrong in your home clutter-wise, by the way. Good on you for working towards a home that suits you better.

Since I’m moving out of my office (baby Pancakes is getting the room to herself), I have to get minimal with my scrap stash. Or at least minimal enough so that it’s only taking up 1 bookcase worth.
I’ll be gleaning all the org tips from this thread.
I think I’m going to start organizing existing projects into larger 12x12 boxes.

I had a eureka moment today when I transferred my 4x6 stamp sets and all 4x6 alpha label sticker sheets in a medium-sized Nomess clear drawer. Fits wonderfully! I have a little extra space on the side where I added some 3x4 stamp sets. I can't believe almost all my stamp sets are now in one place... Victory! 95% of my stamp sets + all my alpha and label sheets fit in this: Booty, would you possibly have a link for that? I'm a wannabe small stasher. And thank you.

They are currently on the floor next to me as I finish up some spreads in my October Daily album on my coffee table.

Layouts 11/30 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr Here's a pic of my stash, since I got everything cleaned up and put away last night. This holds all my scrappy supplies, including: loose 12x12 paper, cardstock, paper pads, embellishments, finished layouts, card bases/envelopes, tools, and scraps. I also currently have that little shoebox full of Christmas cards to donate. The supply I have the most of is definitely paper. I am overflowing with paper...

Now after buying all the cheap sets of square PL cards I could, I’m finding that certain ones are just not ‘me’ so my goal for the winter is to go thru them and be honest with myself about if they ‘fit’ my style. I have 2 drawers of them and it’s too much and I don’t want to make a 3rd drawer of new cards id like to keep it to these 2
Suggestions on what to do with the rest? Anyone want them? Most are PL cards some are SC.
I have to start taking an honest look at my stash before I move next year. ( and STOP buying! )

Maybe some drawer dividers... I use a lot of small boxes and lids to divide my drawers up. I always have open top boxes, but it helps corral things. I use berry boxes and envelopes boxes and lids that work like trays... I try not to buy organizing solutions.

Most are PL cards some are SC. Some people use them for cardmaking - anything with a general hello or positive message can be a good element for a donation card. Some people chop them up and use them for layering behind other elements in general scrapbooking but most of them are probably trying to use up their own stash. I would guess that the bulk of the PL cards will be less desirable, but you could donate them. Or offer/RAK them here. Maybe in smaller bundles - whatever would fit in a small priority box, sorted by theme or color?
