I know Becky isn't exactly popular around here, but I am thinking of buying her phone photography class. I have a good camera, but I mostly use my iPhone for photo taking. Sometimes, I am happy with my pics, other times, not so much.
Has anyone taken her class? Is it worth the money? She says she teaches you how to edit photos on your phone, but does that require you to buy some special editing app?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

I've not taken her class but I reckon you can find something similar on Skillshare for a fraction of the price - and there are plenty of 2 months free codes floating around for Skillshare.
Skillshare is always my first port of call for e-learning these days, or Youtube.

I have not taken the class, but after it first came out, I remember people saying she basically took blog posts she had already written and made a class, that the info was already out there for free.

Don't do it. Those who paid for it were seriously underwhelmed and disappointed in the BH thread. It's basic info you can gleam online for free, nothing advanced or particularly interesting.

YT is filled with great content for free instead (a small selection).
Your basic rules:
Pure motivation to just get out and shoot with your phone from the famous Pierre Lambert (I recommend ALL his photography videos):
If you have an iPhone, don't forget about long exposure:
Using your phone like a DSLR:
How to get cool shots with mobile photography:
Advanced selfies AKA proper self-portraits with your phone:

Agreed, don't waste your money. There is way better content out there from actual professional photographers for free versus overpriced drivel from BH. Sorry, I loathe what she has turned into, I so used to like her.

She's been flogging it hard. I'm guessing it's not been overwhelming on the uptake.

Don't Do It!!!!!! I bought it when it first came out and it was a total waste of money. I even asked for a refund (which she didn't give me). She basically just took all of the tips she had been sharing for free on her blog/instagram and used those for the class. There was zero new content. I still get mad that I wasted $99.

Was this the one that had a review written by her dad? every class either has a guest post or a review written by her dad! But of course, she doesn't *call* him 'dad' or anything... so as far as her sheeple know, it's just some guy giving a favorable review. THAT'S what galls me the most about it, TBH.

Skillshare is always my first port of call for e-learning these days, or Youtube. I love Skillshare!! My go-to used to be Lynda.com, but I now prefer Skillshare for e-learning, especially for more artistic/creative pursuits. This is an affiliate link if anyone wants to get 2 months of Skillshare free. I'm about 3 months into a year subscription and really love it.

Thanks for your input everyone! I really appreciate it. Thanks also for the links and suggestions. I will pass on the BH class and check out what you all shared.

to be perfectly honest, I don't know if Becky's dad reviews *EVERY* class she does. I just remember the latest class (the one about writing your story, or whatever she called it) had content by him included in one of the first lessons, which was about as bad as having him review it, in my opinion. and that reminds me... sleepingbooty , have you restocked your wine supply so you can get thru any more of Becky's videos? Selfishly, I was looking forward to more of your bitingly snarky commentary about it, lol!!

I could do another lesson if you want. *checks the wine content in the apartment* Lest we forget (I shan't because I had to sit through the freakin' videos), her mother was also a guest contributor to the MMS free class!

I still get mad that I wasted $99. $99 bucks! Oooof! There is so much free info out there - so don't pay for it. Once you learn a few tips and tricks - the key is to PRACTICE! Just take random pictures when you have a few minutes. In different lighting, different locations, etc. I have an iPhone and I love using Pano and other nifty things it has. I like using Lightroom to edit, and I do pay for it - but there are some tools you can use for free on it too! I also recommend SnapSeed! Yowza - it is FUN. You can way over do things on it, so I have had to pull my reins back a bit, but you can touch up the photo to look amazing. SnapSeed also has some cool ways of adding text onto pictures. With SnapSeed - be sure to go into the settings and make sure you are saving at 100% quality. Otherwise it compresses them down a little bit. Lots of Snapseed tutorials out there for free also. People ask me a lot, what Camera I use. .... err, my old cracked iPhone 8.... and they are so surprised!

I mainly use Photoshop Express on my iPhone for the basic stuff (exposure, temp, etc). I use Lightroom on my laptop & desktop if I use an actual camera that isn't my phone. I haven't tried Lightroom on my iPhone yet.
