Welcome to the weekend everyone! For this week's sketch, I made a sketch / template from a layout that caught my eye in the gallery at The Lilypad: InspirationHere is the sketch that I made from the layout:
And here is my take. I used the 'Touch of Pink' kit by Joyce Paul, plus bits and pieces from other kids and a few things I made myself.
And here is a link to the Photoshop template in Dropbox for any digital scrappers. You will need to delete the top layer: PSD Template
The twist this week is a Tic Tac Toe recipe using elements starting with the letters SEPTEMBER. Take 5 points for using any three elements in a row from the grid below, plus 2 points for doing the sketch.
On my layout I used Paint, Enamel (black dots and arrows) and Banner (word strips). Have fun, and I can't wait to see what you do with this!

Gorgeous page, AussieMeg, and it starts from a gorgeous sketch! Don't know what to do with this! It is like the IRL pp I have that is just "too beautiful" to use! Love your tic tac toe: fun twist!

LOVE this AussieMeg - and thank you for a 1 page sketch today I just finished another 2 pager and it was laborious. Worth it in the end I think. But phew. Your page is simply perfect. I LOVE how her blue eyes pop off as an embellishment of their own. My own DD came out with blue eyes (recessive genes ahoy!) and I loved accentuating them on my layouts when she was little. Of course, that gave her a rather inflated view of their value Children of scrapbookers

I love this one! Your page is so lovely, I adore the little pops of grey and black in the colour scheme and that's such a sweet photo.

AussieMeg Lovely sketch and such a darling, sweet layout. The sprinkle of sequins and textured bits to the left of the photo are so cool. Lots to keep your eyes happy! wendy crowe I couldn't help but laugh at your journaling. It's nice to be able to find the humor in the more sticky moments in life, even if after the fact. I love the hand stitching elements and the sprinkling of dots on your layout. jeremysgirl Such a fun, bright layout! I love the movement of flowers across the page and the button centers are always a favorite! I tend to gravitate to creating layouts like this sketch, so this was comfortable to make in the midst of some that are more challenging! I included hidden journaling on a tag tucked behind the photo in a glassine bag. I used (washi) Tape, Enamel (dots) and Mat for my bingo card twist selections.

I will come back and look at your takes, jeremysgirl and Ryann and ComplicatedLady . Here is mine, the September page for NEXT year's family calendar: september 21 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I have a banner, enamel dots and paint for my diagonal tic tac toe line. Using the Vicki Boutin background pp which already had the artsy splashed watercolour look to it helped me just work on the matting and photo and page design.

jeremysgirl, that is such a sweet photo! And I love how you used the strips of pp and the hits of pink and yellow against the dark background. Ryann, your page is stunning! LOVE all the foil! ComplicatedLady, you are using such pretty colours here. And I like how you replaced the journaling strips with sticker phrases.

I loved playing with this sketch. I started with my Vicki Boutin pps, grabbed some scraps, and used them as is as layers under the photo (wasn't the plan. They just worked, especially the oddly cut teal shape that matched the backwards L feel of the layout). Pulled out twine and it cooperated with placement! Nuvo drops. The floral clusters weren't what I envisioned, but I got fussy cutting the pp and couldn't say "no" to them. layout one last look by kirstendrew, on Flickr

I loved this sketch and it gave me an idea for my nephew's card. I struggle with making masculine cards. Used some old Bo Bunny paper.

here's my version - no twist though and it's been simplified quite a bit - I love all the embellishments on the original but never can duplicate that look.

jeremysgirl , your page is so bright and pretty. I love the variety of flowers and colors you have used. She is such a pretty girl and I’m sure she will love this page. I love the dots that lead the eye from the photo to the title. I love the little tied ribbon. I am going to remember and use that idea. Ryann , your page is lovely. I love the colors and especially all the little detail. The vellum bag with the tag and twine, the tiny little hearts, stars and embellishments. Everything works together to make a beautiful layout. I love the way you have tucked the flowers beneath the edge of the photo. Linda , I love what you have done with the sketch. It’s similar to mine. Sometimes the 12x12 sketches are hard to copy, but you did a great job. I love the blue and white with just some pop of red. Very pretty. AussieMeg , wendy crowe , ComplicatedLady , grammadee , kitbop and tuesdaysgone , you each have love in the gallery. Here is mine: Timpanogos Grad I used stitching, enamel dots, and ribbon for the twist.
