If anyone has found a good way to store their silpat(s), I'd love to hear about it and/or see pictures. With all the baking I've been doing during the pandemic, I acquired 3 more of these and would love ideas for a better way to store them. Is there a way to store them flat? Rolled up? Inside a container of some sort? Anything's got to be better than the way I have mine now... I currently have mine rolled up all together and stored inside a stack of narrow-ish serving containers sitting on a lower shelf of a cabinet. The containers are those plastic popcorn holders that are made to look like an old-fashioned popcorn bag (like from a carnival or something). They were the only thing I could find that would hold the rolled up silpats. I got them (the popcorn containers) years ago for family movie nights and they were fun when the kids were little, but now I'd like to get rid of them and need a new solution for storing my silpats. Even without getting rid of the popcorn containers, the current solution isn't great, because the whole stack tends to fall out of the cabinet whenever anyone opens it for anything. Not great! I use the silpats a lot and don't want to relegate them to the downstairs pantry storage area.

I keep them rolled up on top of the basket with my extracts and icing color gel bottles.
One idea that I had was to buy a sheet of tag board and make a big file folder for them. You could lay them flat and either stand up the folder along the edge of a shelf or lay it flat under baskets or other pantry items. The folder would keep them flat and enable you to slip them out from under the items without taking everything off the shelf.

I keep them rolled up. Have you found a great way to clean them. I struggle with this.

I just keep my mats on my cookie sheets. We use them at least once a week. I store them in a drawer under my oven so they lay flat.

My cookie sheets are stored upright otherwise I'd just lay the mats in the sheets. I roll mine and tuck them in one of the spaces where my cookie sheets, cooling racks, and some other pans are held.

I really like the idea of making a cardboard "file folder" for them! I may try that. I can't keep mine in the cookie sheets because my cookie sheets get used with foil for roasting veggies, heating up leftovers that need to be "crisped", cooking bacon in the oven, etc. Also, I store my cookie sheets standing up sideways alongside my cast iron stovetop griddle and my cooling racks, so I think the silpats would flop over, LOL.
As for washing them, I lay them flat in the sink (or as flat as I can get them - they don't quite fit) and give them a gentle wash with a very soft non-abrasive brush, sponge, or dishcloth and dish detergent (Dawn or Palmolive). I flip it and wash both sides, then hold it under running water to rinse. I air dry or hand dry them with a tea towel. I haven't had a problem with them ending up greasy. Kind of a PITA to wash, but I'm so used to it by now I don't mind.

I keep them in my napkin/dishtowel drawer along with my parchment sheets. (I only have drawers in my lower cabinets.)

I put my silpats in the dishwasher. But I use foil on my baking sheets for messy, greasy, or meats. I mostly just use my silpats for baking.
Another storage idea is to use a 14” length (or so) Of PVC pipe. I’d think they would fit well in a 3” or 4” pipe.

I roll them up and slip a ring cut from paper towel tube over them to keep them rolled and put them in the drawer under wall oven.

I always just store them on top of my jelly roll pans. I always use them when I cook so they are ready to go.

Keep them on the cookie sheet or baking pan.
The cupcake & mini cupcake silicone silpats are rinsed and then folded up & put in the cupboard.

I wash them in the dishwasher. I have a “3rd rack” in my dishwasher for flat and small items. They lay flat on the rack for washing.
I store them rolled up and each one is slipped Into an empty paper towel roll. The rolls are in a shallow kitchen drawer.

I clip them together on a magnet clip and stick to the side of refrigerator- there is a small space between the fridge and cabinet so I just slide it in there. You cant really see them- mostly can see the clip next to the counter but it is not really noticeable

My sheet pans are stacked upright in a cabinet and the silpats are laying on the top one.

I store them flat in a drawer in my island with my rolling pin, a couple of cookbooks, and a few other baking things on top of them. I could store them with the baking sheets, but I only use them for baked goods, so that means I would be trying to find a place to put them every time I use the baking sheets for something like chicken or a sheet-pan dinner.

I have some but I honestly prefer parchment for baking on and Teflon foil for messy or greasy stuff like meat, fish or cheese bread. I have a big silicone mat that I like to put down on the counter when I’m rolling out some type of dough, but I never actually roll anything out ON it. I put the parchment down on top of it so it won’t slip and more parchment on top of the dough so my rolling pin never touches the dough either.
I keep mine rolled up at the side of a deep cabinet. It wouldn’t work to keep them on my cookie sheets because I use Airbake pans that are rimless and I store them vertically in a tall cabinet above my ovens.
The issue I have with things like that is, once they’re washed how are you supposed to dry them effectively? I hate towel drying them so I end up flapping it over the top of whatever is in my dish drainer, but it really isn’t a great way to do this. I would LOVE a tiny retractable clothesline with 2-3 lines that could be strung between the two upper cabinets over the kitchen sink! Then I could pull it out when it was needed to hang something up there like the silpats or a wet dish cloth, and then retract it when it’s not needed.
