I'm in the process of making a LO for my great nephew of the first buck he shot with a crossbow. Below is what he wrote. I want this kid to do my journaling. He is 13.
"Getting my first buck was one of those moments when your adrenaline is so much to handle that you feel like if you mess this up you'll never do it again. Which is why when that buck started moving, after hearing the small click of the safety being turned off, I started to stress out a whole lot more. However when I pulled that trigger on the crossbow and the deer ran off everything in the world seemed to have been put on mute for a split second. Once my grampa and I climbed down the tree after a minute or 2 we tracked down where the buck had gone finding no sign of a wound for what seemed like hours, and just when we were about to call it a day we saw a small amount of blood on some leaves and followed the path and after a little while of tracking it down we found the buck at the end of the trail, dead. The arrow that I shot and hit the buck has still not been found yet because the arrow must have been thrown off course when the buck jumped from the impact of the arrow. Dragging that thing back to the truck was a pain in the butt to get up and over literally anything there. I love hunting because it gives you the chance to get out into the nature where every little noise you should pay attention to for the chance of hearing deer. I love this experience because it almost refreshes you after being in the city for so long."
