And I heard that our local Kmart is closing as well. Which frankly, I'm surprised that store did not close years ago. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Target will be building a Target Superstore. Walmart built a superstore a few years ago and apparently Target was snuffed out of the site to build their own superstore. You would think if that was the case, they would leave the current Target open while it was under construction. Anyway, feeling a little blue that one of my favorite stores is leaving. I know, I need a life. Lol!

Aww, that's a bummer. Kmart and Sears in a nearby city are closing and I actually what took them so long to close. They were crap stores. But I would be super blue if our Target closed.

Maybe I live in la-la land, but I have never heard of a Target closing. Wow. I have to travel to get to one and would love to have one in my town.

I'm waiting for the remaining KMart to close here but yet I fear if they do, the building will sit empty for many years because no one wants to have a retail business in that area. WalMart keeps getting delayed on building a second one to a point where I haven't heard any more about it in a couple years. I think they gave up. I wouldn't miss Target honestly. It's not a super Target so I rarely have reason why to go there.

I was wondering if you lived in Canada and Target finally realised that it was time to call it day on the disaster they made during their opening.

Oh my, life would be over as I know it without my Target. Actually have 3 close by. (And of course I am joking)

That's terrible. I think I would cry if our Target closed. I hope you have one within 15 minutes drive. That would be a saving grace.

I was wondering if you lived in Canada and Target finally realised that it was time to call it day on the disaster they made during their opening. The old Zellers at the mall became a Target. It was closed down for months, they expanded the store, remodelled. It finally opened and no one was impressed. Every time I go in there it is dead, except for Christmas maybe.
Target in Canada is not like Target in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if the Target at the mall closed down.

It's just another store, one that's overpriced. Rarely do I find things I like there. I found summer lights there but that's really all I've bought. Their clothes and shoes are gross and everything household is overpriced. I'll take my money elsewhere. It seems most people have this same thought.

News is that OH, CA, NJ, and MA will have new stores built. Stores in IL, NV, GA, OH, TN and FL will have stores closing.
My closest Target is 20 miles away and I'd be really sad if it closed. My town only has a Walmart, which I love, but it's small and doesn't compare quality wise to Target.

I'm 2 hours from the closest Target. I SO used to look forward to getting to a Target a couple times a year. Now when I go - meh. Nothing really seems that great. Maybe I have it all. LOL
I even passed on Target the last time I was in the big city.
I have a Kmart within 30 minutes and I actaully like going there. They have nicer holiday stuff and much better quality tshirts, etc. Anything I have bought at Target fits me weird. I am sure the Kmart will be on the chopping block - so many are closing. I will really miss it. They have the best Halloween and Christmas stuff.

Our Kmart is closing as well. I would be super bummed if Target closed. I never shopped at Kmart. Way overpriced for the same products that Walmart and target carry and the atmosphere of the store is blah.

Target is within walking distance from my house and I can't remember the last time I shopped there. It seems our store has really gone downhill - it's dirty and hardly any employees. I wouldn't miss it. I get so many cash back and gas rewards at Fred Meyer so I typically buy everything there.

We're losing another K-Mart here. It's in a crappy part of town, so I can't tell you the last time, I've been there, but it's been there since the 60's and has survived a lot. I was sort of (but not really) surprised when I saw the ad in the paper.

I've never heard of a Target closing either. We did lose our last K-mart. In our former town about an hour north of here, they closed the Sears at the mall. They are remodeling our nearby mall some and I'll be surprised if Sears survives.
We have a couple Targets near us and then the mall about 30 minutes away has a 3 story one (former anchor store). We also have 3 Wal-marts located nearby but I'm mostly a Target girl.

Our KMart is closing but a big grocery store is going in there. Our Target is alive and well but I rarely go there. Mall parking around here is a pita. I do very occasionally go to Walmart but I hate that place too.

I'd be sad if they were gone, but the edge is off ours too. Maybe it's my stage of life, maybe it's holdover from bad economy. They don't have as much "cute" as they used to.
One of our SuperTargets is almost half clothes and accessories with low lighting like a department store. I deliberately go to the other, or our "high end" TIC Walmart nearby for household items like lightbulbs or notebook paper

Kmart has pretty good little boy clothing. I get a lot of M's clothing there (I refuse to pay a arm and leg for something he will only wear a few months) Most of the stuff I got him last year and he wore all the time still looks like new. But I am also not picky about stores being pretty. As long as they have the stuff I need and Everything is clean I don't care. Because having all the pretty stuff just raise the price on the stuff they sale.

I'm not surprised about Kmart, Sears Holdings is closing more than 100 stores and laying off almost 5500 employees. They're closing the Sears in our mall (largest mall on the East Coast). I'm surprised about Target though, I guess I've just never heard of any of those closing.

I don't have to drive more than 15 minutes to get to any one of 3 Targets or any one of the 4 WalMarts in my area.
I sure wish I could give you one of those.
But I'm of the opinion that it's a store. I feel sorry for those who have lost their jobs...but that's about the extent of my sympathy.

We only shop at Super Target or Kroger. (also a home type store. Groceries and home decor...) We should be getting a new, closer Target soon. Yay! I told my DH that there would have to be one near our new house, and luckily, when the new one opens, there will be 2!

Target is my favorite store, I never shop at Walmart, so that would be awful if Target closed. Thankfully, I have about 5 within driving distance, so I should be safe! The 2 closest upgraded within the last 2 years to supers as well, they are both pretty busy, so I'm not to worried.
There are still a couple Kmarts around here too, but honestly I'm shocked they are still open! The stores are very run down.
I'm in Target at least twice a week, I do at about 75% of all my shopping there, including groceries. BJ's gets a good chunk of the rest.

Kmart pulled out of this part of the state well over 20+ years ago, and we still get the lousy holiday commercials.
As if I'm going to drive several hours to get a good price on cheap wrapping paper. Ad money well spent, Kmart.
Sorry about your Target. I really hate it when a favorite store closes.

I don't think Target stores are overpriced in the United States, maybe in Canada. Where do you shop in Canada that's a big box store that's cheaper? I guess I've never understood the love for Target. I hate shopping though. As long as the store has what I need, I get in and get out. Big box stores have zero appeal to me. I don't live near any of them. The closest Wal-Mart is over 20 miles away and Target is over 40 miles. Maybe I'd feel different if I frequented them on a regular basis. I know of 2 K-Marts that closed down several years ago and they are still sitting empty.
