Here is another sketch from Scrap Happy:
Today's TWIST is to use a stencil or a mask to apply any medium. I used Oxide inks, but you could use sprays or paint, or crayons or...
And here is my take on it. I flipped the sketch so I could put the title on the left and lead into the second page. I used a Vicki Boutin stencil and TH Oxide inks. The backing of the letters is not my work. It is from the card that came in the envelope with the stencil!
Can't wait to see what YOU do!

I used a grunge stencil with white paint over my background paper. Not loving the look, but it was fun to try it out. I didn't have photos for our Virtual Talent Show so I spent yesterday cutting out silhouettes to represent the kids' talents. I didn't know how I was going to use them, but when grammadee posted the sketch today, I tried using them in place of the photos. It's very busy, but seemed to work. I never have enough small photos of any event to do lots of photos on a page. I hope this will do. Virtual Talent Show

AWESOME take on the sketch, nylene! And awesome way to represent the many talents of your grandkids! I think the stencil work looks great: reminded me of the netting on gym carts where all the different equipment is stored. Thanks for playing with this one, even though it is not usually your style.

grammadee Wonderful sketch. I had to sit on it a few days to figure out how to make it work for me, but I got there eventually. I love that you repurposed the stencil packaging. The different stamped and inked textures on your layout is really fun! nylene I think you've made great work of this sketch! I love that you were able to make it your own, to make it work for what you have (I do that, too!). The heaviness of the black die cuts are made light by the bright textured background. I think it looks smashing! kellyr21 I love your layout! The inky bits in the middle building a bridge for your eyes to hop from one photo to the other is so effective! I love how you framed everything with your journaling - so awesome. Chinagirl828 Love your grid layout and the use of mixed fonts! What a fun topic to scrap! I love (and miss) live shows, too! Here is my take on the sketch. I used tonic nuvo embellishment mousse with an arrow stencil to create some texture on my page. I messed it up a bit on the left side. Nothing an embellishment cluster can't cover up!

I used tonic nuvo embellishment mousse with an arrow stencil to create some texture on my page. I messed it up a bit on the left side. Nothing an embellishment cluster can't cover up! That was a neat idea to use the nuvo mousse with your stencil. How creative and it looks good!

Ryann, your layers are awesome! And I love that stencil work: the paste matches your title perfectly! And of course embellishments were made for situations like this .

Ryann I love all the layers! I wanted to do that but couldn't make it work with the multiple photos so I love your take on it.

Ryann, I love what you do with layers. I forget to do that. It adds such depth to the layout. I love the variety you have used in your title lettering. I especially love the Wander with the arrow. That's a cool touch. The texture looks wonderful! Great page. Everyone else has love left in the gallery.

Here’s mine. I went WAY back into the stash vault and used a brass stencil and chalk for this one!! 2020 Sketchtember #15

okay this one was a tough one grammadee - I never have loads of small pictures. So I turned the sketch (slightly simplified) into my background

Great ingenuity to flip the elements of that sketch, Linda! Love your Lego blocks! And I love that the structure in your bottom photo kind of echoes ComplicatedLady's bride silhouette! I am loving all your TN takes, ComplicatedLady. The recipient of this little booklet is going to LOVE it!

ComplicatedLady, you have love in the gallery. Linda, I love the way you altered the sketch to fit your supplies. I feel the same way about lots of little photos. 8.5x11 is just not wide enough for some of the sketch designs. I always love what you do with them! Great Legoland page with all the Legos as background.

I super struggled with this one. Tried very hard to keep sketch elements that I could once I played with the photo arrangement to the point of unrecognizability Flipped and turned the sketch, Kept the "vellum" look of the sketch, the arrow, the layers of pps, and the small photo size. And I'm not terribly happy with my result layout in house salon by kirstendrew, on Flickr

I LOVE your take on the sketch, kitbop! Worked really well for these process photos. And I would say I am sorry for "giving you fits" as you said in a different thread, but then I remember that you are making me do clusters!

And I would say I am sorry for "giving you fits" as you said in a different thread, but then I remember that you are making me do clusters! Yes, yes, we're totally square!!! It's good for us all to stretch our creative muscles a bit - I always "grow" some during sketchtember! But I now owe you a huge THANK YOU: your comment made me look again at my clusters on this layout - and I realized - the bottom left clusterwas bugging me - it needed to move to the left! Do you see how it was straight below the top cluster, and thus accentuated a "rectangular" look to the layout? I moved it over so that white circle is at the corner of the photo, and the pink house is almost to the edge of the layout, and I'm so much happier with the way my eye pulls through the layout. So. much. better. Thank you!!!
