What's the NSBR without a would you eat this? I should have asked earlier on this one since I had an upset stomach (to put it delicately) all afternoon yesterday!
We lost power Monday night at about 6:30 and it didn't come back on until 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon. We put some of our food into a couple of coolers: yogurt, some frozen meat and some refrigerated meat. Kept it cold all day.
We left eggs, hard boiled eggs, a berry fruit salad and a few other assorted things in the refrigerator, which was still mostly cold when the power came back on. (DH was in charge of the cooler while I was at work, I would have chosen differently!)
For lunch yesterday, I ate a hard boiled egg, fruit and yogurt. Which one of those things made me sick all afternoon? I don't think I had full on food poisoning, just a rumbly stomach all afternoon! I'm betting on the egg, because I ate fruit and yogurt after the power came back on and was fine.
I tossed both the hard boiled and uncooked eggs last night just to be safe. I've packed the yogurt again today, and I had already eaten the last of the fruit.

It's hard to say, I would have guessed the yogurt since the egg was fully cooked.

My first thought when I opened this thread was "uhh ohhh."
I don't know what did it, but I'm sorry you were feeling poorly.

Luckily, it didn't really make me sick, no puking, just a few extra trips to the restroom!

Really? Probably none of the above. Yogurt can be left at room temp for up to 8 hours (per my nutritionist), and eggs weren't refrigerated for years. As long as there aren't cracks in the eggs, they are already in a germ free package. I generally keep a few on the counter, as I usually need room temp eggs for recipes. And you would know if the fruit was bad! It would taste a little fizzy.
I'm guessing you just picked up some sort of bug. Luckily it was short lived and you are feeling better!

It wasn't the eggs. As a kid we would leave eggs out for over 24hrs at Easter and we never got sick. It was probably a total coincindence that you got sick.

A good possibility none of the above. Sometimes stuff just happens, or it was some little virus thing.

Honestly none of those things should have made you ill. Is it possible you've caught something else? I know my dd and dgkids have had a similar bug about a week ago.

Interestingly I had always read that it is important to keep yogurt refrigerated.

I'm going to go out in left field and blame the fruit for not being properly washed.

I wouldn't think it was the eggs.

I have no idea.
I just wanted to chime in to say that there have been several times where we've been without electricity for an extended period of time. To keep food from spoiling we minimized the number of times we opened the door to the refrigerator. We also bought bags of ice and put them directly into the refrigerator and freezer. We've never had to discard food due to a power outage.

Yep, 24 hours. She would put a personalized one in our baskets and it would sit out all day....after being in the basket all night.

Almost definitely not the eggs - over here in Germany, they do not refrigerate any eggs - hard-boiled or raw - nor do they even clean them (you get feathers and all) and never have they been bad or spoiled as long as they are not cracked.
I agree if anything, it might have been bad fruit. It seems more and more if there is any issue with food, more often than not, it occurs in the produce aisle.
