This is a long overdue thank you to all of you. I am so grateful for this community and how you support teachers! Today is the first day since August 15 I have not worked 16+ hours a day. I promised myself I would only work 9 hours and take some time to get back on track with my non-teacher life. First task, thanking all of you for supporting teachers with their wish lists. I could write pages about the negative issues with this school year, but there is a lot of good, too...like this place!
It was the most selfless act and so appreciated by not only me, but all my students. I explained to my classes how RAK works and there are people donating items for them to have. They couldn't believe it...imagine speechless middle schoolers! Every class said they hope I can let them know thank you and they are so happy to have the sewing materials. I am teaching 100% from home and the Amazon packages arrived during class time. When the doorbell would ring, the students would be so excited and couldn't wait for the 'unboxing' of the supplies. Every class got to experience at least one unboxing - I have 10 periods...that's how many boxes we got! The students are still brining up your RAK. I finished putting the sewing kits together during my lunch, next up will be winding the thread, and then we will be ready to sew in October.
This group has supplied enough materials for all of my 160 students to sew. If it wasn't for you, we would not be sewing this year due to budget cuts and Covid guidelines (no sharing supplies)! The kitchen supplies I have demonstrated in kitchen basics videos for the students. They can't wait to 'get back' to try them out for themselves.
I am next working on the thank you notes for the items. If you don't get one from me, please know I probably did get your item but there just wasn't a slip in there to write a thank you note. Some of the ziplocks and thread did not have anything in the boxes.
Thank you peas for your gifts - both the tangible items as well as your support!
