Do you let your kids lie without saying anything to them about it.
Do you yourself lie all the time?
I ask because I was reading the tweets from the reporters who report on trump’s rallies and news briefing.
He’s giving a rally now and all he has been doing is lying. And these people are cheering him on. Surely these people know he’s lying and yet they cheer him anyway.
I have to wonder how these people are raising their kids. Do they cheer their kids when they lie? Do the trump supporter couples cheer each other when they lie to each other? I mean you have to believe anyone who cheers a liar are themselves liars.
Have we, as a society, sunk so low that we cheer liars?

And those who cheer liars are the first to be judgmental on someone else.

His followers don't consider him to be (care that he is?) lying. He is just poking at "libs" to get them riled up. That is what all that is important to them now, getting revenge, feeling superior, making liberals *cry* and laughing at them; winning. To heck with their morals.

I wonder about this as well. My oldest (17yo) has been really questioning me on why I hate Trump so much. Apparently some of his friends are Trump supporters. He seems to believe a lot of the rhetoric--The news just report on the negative, it is just a difference of opinion, Trump isn't racist and neither are his supporters, what has he done that has negatively affected us personally, etc. Yesterday I was getting pretty irritated. There is just so much wrong with Trump, and I generally feel that those who vote for him clearly do not have the same values that I do. Or at least not in the same priority. For me, human rights and decency come before everything else. DS asked how I would feel about Trump if he was a "nice guy." I didn't even really know what to say because it is hard to imagine Trump being different than he is. He lies, cheats, puts people down, lies some more, discriminates, etc. His narcissism takes over everything he does. I would not choose to be around anyone like that IRL, why would I vote for him? What do others see in him? I saw a post from John Pavlovitz after talking with DS and sent it to him, saying that the post might help to explain my dislike for Trump. He said he might read it in December. I told him that I hope he questions his Trump supporting friends as much as he does me. I am still kind of ticked about it. I don't know what else to say to help him understand. I told him that until Obama was president, I probably wouldn't have considered myself to be a Democrat or a Republican. But when the R's started saying the negative things about Obama, my opinions of them started to change. Then came Trump and their response to him.... Eta this is the post. johnpavlovitz.com/2020/02/23/why-do-you-stand-behind-cruelty/

NO, I don't tolerate lying.
One of my FB acquaintances posted today: I wonder where Joe Biden's fact checkers are? Good grief!" One person responded, "Oh, he doesn't have any!"
Wow. She supports the lyingness president of our time.

I am Canadian and have no business even commenting on this if you're talking about American politicians. But I'm going to. I can't tolerate lying. I know that Trump is a liar, and pretty much a totally despicable person, so I don't expect much from him, or politicians like him, in general.
The thing I can't understand is lying that is totally pointless - like the stupid lies that Biden told years ago. Did he really think that no one would realize that he didn't graduate in the top half of his class? Or that he wasn't arrested in South Africa? Why do that? It just shows me his stupidity and his potential for lying about other things.
In the other "Biden" thread someone mentioned white lies - the lies Biden told cannot be classified as white lies in any way. They didn't protect anyone or make anyone else feel better. In reality, if you want to stretch the definition of a white lie, I would say that Trump's lying about Covid is closer to a white lie - it could be argued that he was trying to save people from panicking.
I teach my kids not to lie. I tell them that it's never going to lead to anything good or make things easier for them. That it's always better to just tell the truth, even if it reflects badly on you. However, I do sometimes tell white lies if I want to save someone from needlessly suffering.

I know this is a Trump thread, but generally, I do not. I don’t call people out. Just make a mental and don’t interact with them. I have friends who will call the person out publicly the moment they start lying.

I think there is a huge difference of dealing with liars in your circle of contact VS Dealing with an epic liar of a potus spreading outrageous lies snd disinformation that hurts America. I think it would be much easier, calmer to deal with liars in my bubble/smaller community. Not do much with what is going on with the current potus.

I would say that Trump's lying about Covid is closer to a white lie - it could be argued that he was trying to save people from panicking. Wow. So, can you not recognize or acknowledge that the PRESIDENT OF THE US downplaying a virus, likening it to the flu, played NO part in the number of deaths we have now? Can you not at all think that maybe if he hadn't downplayed it, that his followers would have taken it more seriously? I am gobsmacked that you think Trump purposely downplaying it, admitting behind the scenes that it is a terrible virus while telling the citizens of our country not to worry, it will soon be gone, it's just like the flu is just a little white lie.

Agreed. sam9 I don’t know the context of the comments that Biden made 30-40 years ago (and don’t trust Trump’s campaign commercials) but if it was a lie, that is not ok. However, I don’t see any comparison to what Biden said that long ago to what trump lies about every single day. And I definitely don’t think that him lying about the coronavirus (and continuing to lie to this day) was what I consider a “white lie.” Canada must have a different definition than I do. To me a white lie would be something like “wow! That is a really cool shirt” when in fact I think it is ugly.

Sorry sam9, you have moot points. First, you don't have at stake what us americans do with a malignant sociopath as our leader at the moment. Also to compare Trumps' lying to Biden's lying is like comparing a rattlesnake to a puppy. To answer the OP, I don't tolerate lying in my family, in my circle of friends or, and most especially, with people who should be working for the best of the American public. Trump's lying is just the tip of the iceburg. His lies will get 1000x worse if he is re-elected.

That “white lie” borders on negligence on his part that contributed to the death of over 200,000 Americans in 6 months. His lack of leadership in what could be call a national crisis was mind boggling. We are told to do 4 things. Don’t touch your face. Wash your hands - a lot. Wear a mask when out in public. Practice social distancing when you are around people that are not in your bubble. trump has mocked people for wearing masks. He has mocked people for social distancing. trump mocks state officials if they don’t let him have one of his big crowded rallies with no social distancing and ignoring the mask requirement. Just tonight at his rally he claimed that the only reason Joe Biden was practicing social distancing at his version of a rally was to hide the fact not many people are showing up. So tell us again how trump keeping the truth from the American People about the seriousness of the virus was to stop people from panicking.

I guess doctors should not tell us and/or our families if we have cancer. No need to know. Who needs treatment?!
You need to know what is going on to take care of yourself and your family!

Especially given everything he’s said after that revolt—including what he didn’t do. I’m floored that 200,000 America’s have DIED from this virus and are defending or glossing over his statements and actions or lack thereof. Recently, he himself on national television stared “ it us what it us” after being asked about the deaths. He also stated that “it will go away and I’ll be right”. So eventually, who knows when, Covid 19 will stop. And trump will be calling into Fox to say “see, I told you it would disappear”. He’s such a fucking lying idiot.

I typed out a very long response about how I wish Trump supporters would just DIRECTLY answer questions about WHY they **STILL** support him, but I got so angry typing it out and decided it's not worth it.

I decided that aside from the MANY, MANY questions I have for Trump supporters, this is a very recent incident, and OMG---I wish they'd tell us what they truly think about this without any deflecting, blaming, etc.... Trump was asked by a reporter last week whether he was concerned about no masks at his rallies. He replied (on camera) that no, he wasn't worried about lack of masks, and that he is usually up on stage, far enough away from the crowd. (so, he just admitted he's a complete narcissist and doesn't give a crap if the rally-goers get Covid!) Did he even REALIZE what he was saying? BUT WAIT...it gets even MORE interesting !!!!!
He THEN told the reporter that he didn't like how close she was standing to him. IF HE ISN'T WORRIED ABOUT MASKS and ISNT WORRIED ABOUT GETTING COVID, then WHY did he ask the reporter to move further away from him? I seriously wish every. single. Trump supporter would answer this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I don't. Not anymore.
I learned something about habitual liars. They expect you to accept their lies as edited reality. They edit reality as they go and feel that people need to just accept what they say and go along with it. I honestly think that they don't even understand the concept of lying. To them it's not "lying" as in telling a falsehood, it's bending reality to suit their purposes. They don't see it as wrongdoing. It's a tool they use to navigate life. And as soon as they say the lie, they believe the lie, and the lie becomes their new reality.

Comparing Trumps list of 20,000+ lies in just 4 years to a handful of lies or mistruths from Biden 30+ years ago? Yeah, ok. Did I miss reality somewhere along the way? Sheesh.
OP - no, I don't stand for liars. I have no respect for them and don't include them in my circle.

Yes. One is just plain out crazy and tells crazy stories. Like about all the bands he's been a drummer for. One is a narcissist and tells rolling lies, that he changes as you call him on them or as he gets caught. One has Borderline Personality Disorder - she does that kind of lying that has just enough truth that you're not sure she's lying even if you know for a fact that she is lying.
You cannot cancel everyone out of your life. Sometimes you just need to learn how to deal.

I don’t think he was and I absolutely could not even guess as to why he lied. But I don’t think that the US government acted that much differently from other countries. There weren’t widespread mask mandates in most places. I’m not saying that he couldn’t have done more, but it is a pandemic and some things were beyond anyones’s control. There were pre existing conditions that favoured the spread of the virus, mainly long term care facilities for the elderly that had less than ideal policies to begin with. This was true for many countries. And people have free will to make their own decisions based on what they see happening around them all over the world. I find it very hard to believe that people in the US acted the way they did because of Trump. Even his supporters. Who would do that? Do people really wait with bated breath every day for health advice from their leader? I never tuned in to watch Trudeau being nice and concerned for us Canadians or to my province’s premier (who is probably an even bigger ass than Trump, but in different ways). In the end people always want what they want and do what they want to do. Weddings, birthdays, funerals and Sturgis are going to happen. Plus family and friends can’t give you the virus. Personal responsibility and attitude are parts of the story.
