I'm putting together backpacks(Used, in great/good condition) for the kids in my community. I'm asking for folks to donate items from their excess crafting supplies, office supplies, etc. Things don't have to be new but they have to be usable. So far I've done some from my own stashes, but if you'd like to donate it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Some of the things that I had in my own stuff was notebook paper, construction paper, card stock. crayons, markers, scissors, glue yarn, watercolors, folders, pocket sized hand sanitizers, stickers, and other items from when my granddaughters used to craft with me.
If you'd like to donate some stuff that you were otherwise going to get rid of please pmail me, I'd love to take it off of your hands and outta your closets.
I was thinking of asking some of the different businesses(large and small) to donate, even items with their logos on them. might be back for some help on how to compose that letter, not sure of the wording to use. How do you fundraisers ask for donations?
Thanks again.

Would you consider starting an amazon list so people could contribute and it would be shipped directly to you?

Also, do you have a timeline? Like, ongoing, done by Halloween, etc.? I don't really have leftovers (no kids) but I could certainly grab extra supplies next time I get to the store... I just don't necessarily know when that will be, ya know?

When we did a fundraiser for a coworker that had terminal cancer, we did a silent auction and asked businesses for items to auction. At first, we just went in and asked, but they said they needed something in writing for their bookkeeping and old us what to include. It was date of auction, but you could put a to and from type date. What you were doing and the purpose and outcome/result you were hoping to get from the donation and what you were asking for; such as cash, school supplies for grade schoolers, etc. It was pretty basic. Maybe include a goal of 250 bags or whatever number you are thinking of that is realistic.
Sent you a pm.

Thank you for the info of what and how to compose a letter asking for donations. I don’t care if items have logos. For companies it would also be free advertising and I would enclose a note saying that folks were supporting students. I think that would be a good idea.
How do you set up Amazon?
And I would like it to be ongoing throughout the year. Kids (all ages) will need stuff as long as they are in school.

Maybe visit a local Staples store and ask to speak to the Manager. Perhaps they would consider donating. Post and look in local Facebook Marketplace groups for supplies.

At the top right of the screen there is a link to "Account and lists," click on that. Again on the top right there is a link to create a list. You even have the option of prioritizing items and keeping your address private.

I'm so excited getting this project off the ground. Thank you Peas for helping me. There are so many kids that need help with school supplies. My granddaughter works at an afterschool, now remote school and told me how many kids really have so little. Many parents are out of work and are really struggling, and I know this will help. Thank you all for helping me help others.

I will take the time to get them and box them up. I will mail to you early next week. I may also have a backpack or 2, but that's something I'm not sure of right now. I will be back on later today.

I would ask groups you are a part of to help. Our church collects school supplies and has great response. It was a success even though we only have virtual church. People would just drop off at the designated collection area anytime. Good luck

The backpacks are coming along, supplies are great. I've been sorting supplies and getting them ready. Just waiting for the 25 packs get here. I've written to some corporations for donations, haven't heard anything back from them...yet.
Thank you for helping me do this. I love y'all.
