I was just wondering, what is your style of adding new products to your stash? Do you buy new collections as they come out if you love it, and think you’ll use it (someday)? Or do you wait til you have a few layouts or a themed album that you are about to start, then go looking for supplies that fit that theme? Or maybe you subscribe to kits, and incorporate those goodies into your layouts?
For me, I definitely shop with specific layouts in mind. I know what days/activities I want to scrapbook (at least a general sense), and I buy stuff that fits those layouts. I love themed products, but I’m starting to find that versatile prints are certainly more usable!

Back in the day when scrapbook stores were in abundance I had a basic supply and bought for specific pages or time period I was working on. I only occasionally bought random things. Now though I buy as I see something I like since things have been known to sell out and can be hit or miss. Also paying for shipping makes me want to make it worthwhile.

When I had Archiver's 5 minutes from my office, I would buy for specific layouts.
Now I buy things I am likely to use, like a floral paper with a coordinating B side. I'll buy 2 or 3 of those types of sheets, so I can use both sides.
I really need to take a break from buying anything other than basic cardstock. I know I am using online shopping as entertainment, since I go nowhere except for groceries. Sorry - that is a bit off topic.
I also used to buy a few collections to take on my 4 day retreat. It was handy to have everything I needed all together.

I am definitely a buy it now if I think I will use it later kind of scrapper. If there is a collection that I love, I tend to pick it up if there is some possibility that I will use in the future. I took a huge trip a couple of years ago, and I was really pleased to have a good selection of travel lines to pick from, rather than what was just available at the moment. Of course, this means I have a massive stash, but that's another story...

If I think a collection I like is going to sell out right away, I'll pre-order the pieces I want as soon as I see them.
Otherwise, my shopping is hit or miss when I happen to go out.

I buy what I like when I like it, and use it later. I have the stash to prove it! LOL! Occasionally I will buy certain items or themed items for a specific project. Even with my stash I sometimes don't have what I want/need!

If I see it, and like it, I buy it.
I used to wait awhile if I liked something and bought every once in awhile. Now, it seems as tho if you don't buy it when you see it you can't find it again.

When I had a scrapbook store within reasonable driving distance, I stopped by at least once a week, and I bought for specific photos as well as when I saw new things I liked.
When the LSS closed, I found a paper arts store about a half hour drive away, so I visited them about once or twice a month.
When we moved to Texas 4 years ago, the scrapbook stores were farther away. The best one is 1.25 hours away through horrid traffic. I’ve been once.
Mostly I was stopping by Tuesday Morning every time I went to Costco, because they were close to each other. I found a lot of crafty goodness there till COVID hit. Since then, I have been to TM three times, and I decided that it really wasn’t worth my time anymore. Since I have a huge stash, it’s not like I need anything, anyway.
I have ordered online a bit, too, but mostly stamps and dies.

I buy what I like and think I would use when I have the chance to do so. I don't have a chance to go to stores anymore and the ones I could go to I don't, like Michaels and Tuesday Morning.
I ordered a princess kit on Peachy Cheap an when it arrived I saw it was one I have purchased twice already.
I saw some Prima Christmas paper on SB.com that I will hopefully order. Otherwise I order when I need specific theme items for certain photos. What I really need to do is master making my own diecuts and I would be so happy.

I buy what I like, mostly stickers, patterned paper, cardstock.
I usually buy something when I see it or I order it online. I usually have an area in my purse that holds my Christmas and Birthday money and gift cards, so I use that up first. They are about five months apart, so I always seem to have a stash to spend. I am not one to rush right out and spend gifted money or gift cards when I receive it, I save them until I find something I really want.
I prefer to buy single items, as opposed to a whole collection. I prefer to pick and choose what I want. I will buy paper pads, but only if I like the majority of the paper and if I have a coupon or it's on sale.

I buy things I think I'll use and tend to keep a running cart at my favourite online store. I just keep an eye on the new section and add things I like, then do a regular review to remove stuff that no longer excites me. I've got a pretty good feel for the types of colours and patterns I like using that work with the general types of photos I scrap, and I try to only buy things I can clearly see myself using. Sometimes I'll buy something outside my comfort zone because I've seen lots of fabulous projects using it and I think I could make it work. I almost never buy a full collection of anything, preferring to pick up a couple of pieces and mix it with the rest of my stash.

I buy what I think I can use. If I like a new release, I ask my LSS to bring it in for me. If I am in the store, I look at what they have for particular themes I think I will be scrapping, or that I usually scrap. I love when I see a new line that fits well with my stash in colour or design or theme.
I get kits from a couple of LSS's which sometimes introduce me to supplies I had never thought of.
I am on the email list for a number of on line sites. Sometimes I order from them if I see something I will be able to use, especially dies or stamps or exclusive products I don't see anywhere else.
Of course "thinking I can use" something and actually USING it are two different things. And if I like a paper, I always get at least two of them b/c I scrap two pagers. So although I scrap lots of pages in a year, and make a bunch of cards, I still have a huge stash...

I mostly buy replacements at this point - more adhesive, new trimmer blades, cardstock in a colour I've run out of. My stash is pretty much at capacity right now so unless I need something for a NOW project, I'm trying not to buy.
I did buy a few things on the spellbinders sale - a pack of cardstock in a colour I'll use but didn't have, an embossing folder, a set of card sentiment stamps, building block (lego like) stamp (if you've seen my recent layouts - I KNOW it'll get used), some cute little travel flags, and a set of stamps that'll be part of a Christmas present for a friend.
And the last non-adhesive HL purchase was papers/stickers for DS's Hawaii album and I've already made several layouts with it.
I've been scrapping for 18.5 years...and I still have some stuff from those early years in my stash...I'm trying to use it or part with it. I'm in a different life stage now (I had a 10 y/o and a toddler back then - now I have two adult kids and a teen) and I have a better idea of what I'll use, a slightly bigger budget (so I don't HAVE to buy on clearance), and the ability to make some of my own embellishments (although I need to get better at that)

I only do pocket page scrapbooking and the supplies for that, as an international, have to be purchased when I see them. If I like it, I buy it.
I definitely buy kits or items and put them away for future projects.
If I didn’t purchase in this way, I wouldn’t have the right supplies when the right page came up, and could find myself waiting months until someone released a kit that worked with my page.

Well, my supply input is greater than my craft output because I buy things I like and think I will use later. My local store closed this summer because the owner retired so I've been buying a lot more online.
It's a good thing Amazon keeps track of my purchases. I was looking at inserts for Karen Burniston's pop n cut die and had put one in my cart when a notice popped up that I had already purchased it in 2013! Went digging in my scrap room and sure enough, I do have it.

If I think it’s pretty, I buy it. If I think I will use it, I buy it. If it’s a theme I know I will scrap, I buy it. I have such a big stash.

My inspiration IS my stash. I am motivated by pretty paper and doo dads. If I start to scrap and can't find coordinating items that excite me to match my photos, the process isn't fun.
So I purchase in advance, the things I think are usable.
I've learned/am learning what is truly usable for me. It's not always what I love. Sometimes it's surprising to learn. My stash is full of collections I loved but struggled to use!

Whenever a new collection comes out that I like, I buy it. I hardly ever buy for a specific layout. I never know what photos I'm going to scrap until I start scrapping so I like having my "store" where I can find anything I want.

I buy things when I see them and keep an eye out for releases. I'm not doing a huge amount of scrapping at the moment - more card making. There aren't a whole lot of shops here so many of supplies come from the USA so I tend to keep carts running at stores and buy a few times a year.

To be honest, when I'm bored and want something new. I rarely buy something because I *need* it.

When I first started scrapping, and I was a new mother, and there were scrap stores near me, I would buy because I needed something for a set of pics, or just because I was browsing and saw something pretty, and it just brought me joy.
Now I'm at a different point in my life, and though I still scrap, and it's still my thing, I get less joy from things. From having them, hoarding them, buying them. With everything I own, I think about the fact that when I die, my kids will need to deal with it.
Plus, online shopping doesn't bring me joy.

If I see something I love that I would use, I buy it. I don’t buy fir a specific current project usually, especially since I no longer have a close LSS. Like others have said, I preorder or buy on release because things sell out quickly.

I buy in spurts when I see a new collection I have to have. Which happens one to two times per year. I don’t shop with a layout in mind but I am selective about buying products that fit my esthetic and types of pictures I scrapbook.

I'm primarily a card maker these days. I'm mostly enabled by YouTube channels when my favorite companies have new releases.
For scrapbook supplies like new paper, embellishments, etc. I head to the LSS nearest to me. Adhesives, card stock, and other basics I buy online from a variety of places as needed.

I've been scrapping since 1997 . . . and have the stash to show for it! Early on at Michaels all the Hot Off The Press, even Costco specialty paper packs, many years of conventions, big time Basic Grey fan, now Echo Park, Carta Bella, and Quick Quotes . . . add a year of QQ DT and yes, I have the equivalent of a small store. Actually measured about 10 feet of paper. So obviously I buy what I like and what I think I will use EVENTUALLY! When I adopted my boys I went on a huge "boy theme" buying splurge. So do I actually EVER have to buy paper again? Probably not ! The last 6 months have been hard on my creative mojo, so haven't really scrapped since March. Time to dig back into that stash I guess! Good thing I never got into the habit of subscription kit, but often would buy entire collections (see list above!)
