I hope the questions make him so irate that he just walks off the stage, like he does when asked questions by the press he doesn't want to or can't answer.

Before his taxes (or lack of) were revealed, I would have said yes.
Now I'm leaning towards him to withdraw while complaining of TeH UnFaIr FaKe NeWs!!!

I honestly do not care one iota if they ever debate. Everything Trump says is a lie anyway so there is zero value in listening to him pontificate. If there is anything in the debate that is earth shattering enough to change my vote ( doubt it ) i'll hear about is after. And even if i were to somehow change my vote there is no chance whatsoever it would go to Trump.
A debate is useless to me.

I do, as well. Trump is a chickenshit, but he doesn’t even realize what an imbecile he is. His ego won’t allow him to cancel. Nailed it!

I have no idea if it will happen, but I don't really care. What's the point of it? How many truly undecided voters are there who might be swayed by the answers given or the candidates' demeanor? I think a tiny percentage at best.
I won't be watching. I couldn't bring myself to watch the orange menace for more than a few seconds. And I know who I'm voting for. And why. I believe it's the only chance we have to save the USA. And even that might not work.

Of course. I don't think anything will bother Trump. Like do you really think he thinks having his tax returns out there bother's him? they are busy cooking up some great excuse already. Won't even phase them.

My theory is Biden refuses a drug test so Trump refuses to debate.

I think it will happen, but it won't be a debate. Trump will use his time to say whatever the heck he wants, regardless if it is has any relevancy to the question that has been asked. It will start out with some semblance of normalcy, but like anything else unbalanced, the longer it goes on the more out of control his half of the stage will be. He will provide as few answers as possible but use his time to attack everyone and everything.
We plan on watching it with a heavy hand on the mute button. So we can listen to Chris and Joe, but only small doses of the other guy.

Won't even phase them. Three things bother Trump. Challenge his wealth, virility or intelligence. And those tax returns show he’s a scheming millionaire very close to losing a lot of those millions. He’s a true narcissistic. He’ll show, because he craves attention. He always thinks he smarter than others, and I’m fairly confident that he feels the need to “best” Chris Wallace. His well used insult against him, that he’s not as good as his Dad, Mike Wallace hasn’t had the desired effect. For Trump, that’s one of the ultimate insults, because the man projects everything he feels. Saying that about him would dent his soul.

I don't think his ego would let him back out. I'm going to guess that trump will try and center the entire debate around Joe's son Hunter even though Ron Johnson's (R-WI) GOP led report yielded absolutely nothing in regards to the Ukraine. I'm sure Joe will be ready for that.

I don't think that clown misses an opportunity to run his mouth on TV.
I REALLY wish Kamala or Elizabeth Warren were debating him, but I do think Biden can hold his own. His team will be prepping him for the bullshit; they're studying the tapes from his Hillary debates - trust.

She could be such a strong presence. Actually, all that’s been going on very recently is making me quite anxious.

Yes but I think trump is a little rattled by all the tax and debt news about him. They need to shoot him up with extra Adderall to get him to focus.

About the audience--from CNN host Chris Cilizza:
On Tuesday night, roughly 70 people will file into seats in an auditorium at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland to watch the first general election debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
That's 70 too many.
The simple fact is this: Presidential debates -- in the primaries and the general election -- work better without any audience at all. Yeah, you heard me. Zero audience.
I can prove it. At the start of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States, we had a Democratic presidential primary debate between Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. The date was March 16. And it was fantastic.
Don't take my word for it. Here's The New York Times' Michael Grynbaum:
"With no live audience on hand because of coronavirus concerns, there were no jeers or cheers disrupting the proceedings, no playing to the crowd by the two men onstage. The candidates, typically armed with punch lines and YouTube-able zingers to make the most of limited speaking time, had ample room to dwell on substance. Moderators had the grace and good sense to stay silent when the candidates questioned each other directly."

I'm actually considering getting up at 2:30AM to watch this live. But Trump's little smirk and victimhood discourse would ruin the rest of my sleep for the night so...

Yes. Simply because Trump needs it more than Biden. They’re stupidly convinced it will help (I’m not). If they thought he didn’t, there wouldn’t be one at this point.

Trump knows that his base of 30% isn't enough to get him elected. He bamboozled people in the last election, and he'll lie his ass off to do it again.
He has to debate, or it's all over, and he knows it. Or at least his handlers do.

Well, it’s Tuesday, so I guess the countdown begins.
Just a thought for those who are going to watch live. Turning the volume down and using closed captioning is another way to watch without having to actually listen.
I think I’m going to pass and read about it later. We’ll see.

My DD and I were talking last night. To say she doesn't like Trump is ssssuuuuuucccchh an understatement. She can't stand him. She said that she just didn't know if she would stand watching it but she was going to make herself sit down and watch the entire thing. She is a debater, fact checker, throw it in your face if what you are saying is not in line kind of girl. I told her I will watch but with a giant margarita and maybe a Xanax.
I truly don't think these debates will change anything. I don't even know of anyone on the fence any longer. Candidates are picked and nothing will sway them. But if there is a glimmer of hope that someone might see Trump for the real person he is and change their vote, then let them air.
