I hope you are all safe. This @#$% is getting tiring. Personally I have never been this close to having to evacuate ever. I am a nervous wreck. DD #2 is heading to Tahoe with her dogs and dgs and her husband is staying behind. She'll stay with our other DD.

Terrifying. I have two high school classmates (NOLA) who live in Santa Rosa ~ one has evacuated to her son's house and the other left last week for their home in Maine. She is out of harm's way but I'm sure she's feeling helpless.

Stay safe peas. We heat up in So Cal starting tomorrow and our Santa Ana winds will be joining the heat. Ugh. Oct/Nov is when we typically really see things get crazy fire wise. Hoping for a pass this year.

I am tired of waking up to the smell of smoke, and I'm about 90 miles away from the fires.

Hoping for a pass this year. oh I was just going to post to my Nor Cal peas, that I am so sorry this awfulness continues. I hope and pray you all remain safe and free from danger. Those poor firefighters must have the worst battle fatigue already. But now I see this too and NOOOOOOOO. Tell me you are lying. I mean, it's so perfect today. Such a lovely day. I'm so not ready for this again. <hugs>

I am so sorry that you all are still dealing with this. The other day as I looked at our clear skies and felt grateful for them, I wondered how life in CA was going. I was hoping since it hasn't been on our news lately, that things were better down there.
Everything crossed for you all....

Hoping for a pass this year. I was talking with my son about this the other day. That's what I recall from his childhood years, that the Santa Anas were when the worse of the CA fires occurred. Now y'all have to deal with this for literally MONTHS. I sure hope your (general you) grandkids and their kids decide to settle down as adults elsewhere, as I don't see this situation in CA improving down the road

I read a little while ago that Meadowood was one of the casualties of the Glass Fire. I got married there 18 years ago next week. I might be in the middle of divorcing the man I married but I'm still heartbroken about the loss of such a beautiful place.
When we had the day a few weeks ago where the sun didn't come out my mom commented that it reminded her a lot of the San Fernando Valley when the Santa Anas would cause fires that would burn to the coast. She remembers when Malibu burned that the sky looked like that.
It's not particularly hazy where I am (across a bridge from Lucyg; we should go stand at our respective marinas some day and wave at each other), but it is very smelly. It woke me up in the night for the first time in a while.

it was over 80 this morning in San Francisco.. had a miserable night. got to the high 80's and smokey.. hazy. now, the temp has gone way done and the fog came in very very thickly.. so it is cooler. I pray that the winds die down. this year has been sucky. I now can only see about 1/2 mile..

Stay safe! I love my house, I love my state, and I love my life. But I really and truly don't know how many more fire seasons I have in me. The low level anxiety for six months of the year kills me. You don't feel like you can go on vacation, you always have go bags packed, there are certain days where I hate even leaving the house to go to work because I'm concerned for my animals' safety if a fire should occur. I am just so over it.

I am just so over it. This has been me today. I love my school and the staff I work with and that is the only thing keeping me here right now. I know I would never find a job I love as much and would have a serious pay decrease if I moved back to AZ where my parents are. Then again, they've just had their hottest summer in history and it will only get hotter. Heat with smoke or holy cow it's hot heat.

I read Calistoga Ranch burned. I’m not sure if Solage also burned - I absolutely loved their restaurant. So sad for everyone who has had to evacuate. I know so many people in my community who are ready to call it quits and move out of state

The SCU Complex Fire was as close as we have ever been to one of the large Northern California fires. Mentally it was worrisome and the smoke for the weeks that followed was taxing and really took a toll. But for the people in the Napa/Santa Rosa are, I can’t imagine having to go through this yet again in a month long period. Honestly there’s a resiliency with these people that I quite frankly don’t think I have. I hope things get under control. This is just all too much.

I feel so sad the firefighters. It’s been such a difficult time going from one fire to the next. My heart and prayers go out to all affected peas in the north bay.

It’s heartbreaking seeing the fires on tv. I can’t imagine what it is like living near them. My best friend from college lives in Healdsburg. I love to visit her. Such a beautiful area. I hope all of you stay safe!

I am just so over it. I feel you and validate you. I find it's a low level anxiety year round now... no more "fire season" it's just all of the time. I don't have the responsibility of animals to care for on top of our own well being though. (((HUGS))) We are orig from Canada and I tell DH I don't know how many more fires I can endure. He is entrenched in a very successful career here and it would take a lot for him to move "home." who knows... we may end up with two homes, one on each side of the border. Not that it would be easy to afford such a thing!

😔 I’m so sorry for those of you affected. Please stay safe. Thanks Val. Your valincal name makes it look like you could be from Calif. But I see you're prob from Calgary, or were at one point. I know AB and BC have their share of wildfires too. How often, if at all, is that an issue for you? Our son lives in Revelstoke.

the sf chronicle today had a good overlay of sonoma and napa and all the fires that have burned since 2015. not much untouched. If you saw a fire in marin.. it would be the same story.. lots of growth.. no fires for 100 yrs.

We own a home in BC so we have definitely had our share of fires out here. Lots of smoke, especially two years ago, but my home has never been threatened and I’ve never been evacuated. I don’t think there’s ever been as much widespread destruction of land and property as there has been in California. 😔 (We are about 2 hours from Revelstoke...such a beautiful area.)

This is why the moon was a deep red/orange before it rose above the smoke tonight.

This is why the moon was a deep red/orange before it rose above the smoke I didn’t see the moon tonight, but on Monday night when I took the 11yo to tae kwon do, it was bright orange in a clear sky. Very weird.
