So I have purchased a few appliances recently at Lowes. They have been awesome to work with. Especially the sales guy. I can tell he isn't there to make the almighty dollar. The range I got a few months ago was a special order by someone else and the order was cancelled. The range never has been out of the box. $1,600 and I got it for $400. He didn't even have to say anything about it. Anyways, I stopped in to look at washers and dryers and his comments were:
Don't buy anything right now unless you have to. Prices are way to high even on 'sale' or 'special pricing'
Check at the end of October when the Black Friday prices start (they start earlier than the actual day). He also said he wasn't sure this year what is going to happen because of COVID. But Black Friday is usually the best time to get appliances.
He gave me some suggestions on what he thought were the better machines for my needs. I wanted something that will hold a king comforter. No front loader either.
So keeping my eye on those deals and hoping for some good sales..
My question is would you pay extra for a certain color (other than appliances in the kitchen).. appliances that normally would not be seen that much like washer/dryer. I really love this gold'ish color on an LG washer/dryer set but it is extra. I mean in the long run no one really would see my machines unless you are walking into the garage from the kitchen. They are right by the kitchen but there is a door in between. I just can't see myself spending an extra $200 or so for a color. But they are pretty. lol (I am looking at standard white, blah, boring but who cares, right?)

This is why I do most of my shopping at Lowe’s. The people that work at my store are very friendly and helpful.
As to your question, no I wouldn’t spend extra for a color for the washer/dryer that no one sees but me. White allows me to repaint the room and change out the ‘decor’ whenever I get tired of the current color.

I paid extra for a color with my last washer/dryer set. My laundry room is also the mud room and main entry for the family. I go through there many times a day from my office to the rest of the house as well. We see it all the time and I wanted it to go with the look of the redesigned room. In the past I've always had white though.
I have the largest capacity LG top loader and love it! I do loads of pillows and large comforters with no problems at all.

I Love Lowe's too. Would not pay extra for a specific color on appliances (that includes kitchen appliances) - white or black is perfectly fine with me. It's easy to "match" when one appliance dies and doesn't run the risk of looking "dated" in a couple years. We had an old harvest gold stove and a brown (?!) refrigerator when I was growing up in the 90s, swore I'd never buy colored appliances when I got out on my own. Even my kitchen aid mixer and food processor are grey/silver.

Good tips--I really want a second fridge, but at this point we should just wait for possible holiday sale prices (not to mention I just had to replace my laptop...)
No, I won't pay extra for a specific color. I like white appliances & am happy to pay a lower price for them. Of course the downside is that anything not stainless steel will usually require a special order these days...that scares me with the age of our fridge!

We specifically avoid Lowe's for appliance sales. We switched to Costco and couldn't be happier.
We gave Lowe's 3 chances with appliances.
First an over stove microwave that had a trim piece covering the fan fell off. They replaced it, however when it happened again (at 13 months), we were out of warranty.
2nd, they delivered a refrigerator with a non working ice maker. They came in 3 times to fix it. On the 4th try, it was actually fixed. Probably should have just gotten a new refrigerator.
3rd, a dishwasher. Arrived damaged. We refused it (dented front panel). 3 weeks later (after already waiting 2 weeks for the 1st one) we got it. Was installed by someone who clearly had never installed one before. Took 5 hours. 2 months later, it literally fell out of the cabinet when we opened the door. Had someone out to fix. Seemed OK. At 18 months, fell out of cabinet again. Fought (out of warranty) and got someone to come out and fix. Been 3 months. Crossing fingers it's OK.
And, not appliance related, but had Lowe's install countertops, backsplash, and sink. 2 years in, sink literally sunk. Turns out they merely glued the undermount sink to the countertop with no harness system for the middle of the sink. Out of warranty. Cost us $300 to fix.
All that to say about Lowe's: never again.

Yes I would pay extra for color if I wanted it. I have a gold looking set we got about 17 years ago that is still kicking! And it’s really pretty. Lol That said, pretty sure when they finally die I will get white because I have wondered should one of my applicants go, it will bother me that they won’t match. If I get white, if the brands don’t match the color would while I wait for the other to go out...

I bought a scratch & dent floor model for my second refrigerator. There are scratches on the front, but I really don't care. The price was half the original price. I recommend checking your local, independent appliance stores. I have great luck with ours. I would spend extra for a fun color washer and dryer. I spend a lot of time doing laundry. I can say that now that I am older and don't have kids to raise.

I'd like to think I wouldn't spend extra for colour, but I might. My washer and dryer are 13 years old and I still regret that I didn't buy them in the colour I wanted at the time (I got white).

Once upon a time I’d have said “No way” on spending extra for color. But with a little more age and discretionary income, if I thought I would get $200 worth of enjoyment out of it, then hell yeah. Spread over the 10 years or more I keep the appliances it works out to $20 a year.

Yes I would definitely pay extra for a color. I don’t care if no one sees it; I SEE IT ! If it makes me smile every time I use it, it’s worth it.

If it wasn't in an area that I'd see every day like a mudroom....probably not. My only requirements is that it fits our king comforter in it and its new (used appliances give me the ick factor because I can't disinfect every single part). However part of my reasoning has to do with DH. If the washer or dryer goes out and can't be fixed, then he insists on getting the matching pair. His reasoning is that if one goes out, the other isn't far behind. So that extra money spent on a color could mean that we get the next level up. I just go along with it. He has strong opinions on laundry so we each do our own and if that's what makes him happy and less stressed then a new set it is. Either way we are paying for two and I can't justify the extra money for a color. Although to be fair, I've never seen an appliance color I just "had to have" either

Back in the laundry room--nope In the kitchen and visible to visitors etc., yes.
I'd purchase a scratched/dent discount for laundry room....especially if I were getting $$$ off the initial price.

I thought for sure all answers would be no.. but looks like right down the middle. lol
All our appliances in the past have been black, except the washer/dryer (white). For me, I don't like kitchen white appliances and prefer black or what I have been getting recently a combo looking black/stainless steel.
There was a beautiful blue washer/dryer but it is a front loader and over my price range anyways. But I just don't have enough room for those big machines. My son detests them as he had a job for about a week delivering appliances and those are popular but he said they are SO heavy.. he hated them.. lol
I'll probably go with white, but if the gold'ish comes down a bit, I might splurge. It's a really pretty color. And my 'room' is not big enough for decorating.. it's literally a hall to the garage. Doors on three sides and W/D on the other wall and that is it.

Do not buy the colour. I bought a special mushroom colour because my washer dryer is right in the open in my entrance which is open to my kitchen and dining area. I didn't want boring white. 8 years later the washer is dying and I have to replace both because now they will be mismatched because of the specialty colour. I would go with white and when one dies you can just replace it with white.
I bought an LG top loader and my clothes come out cleaner because there is more water in in. The only thing I don't like is if it gets off balance it just refills with water, agitates awhile, drains, tries to spin again, then keeps repeating. So if you have an item that is really saturated with lighter items it doesn't want to spin. But keeps refilling and if you aren't paying attention it could be a really long cycle!

I paid more for a pretty blue color and would do it again in a heartbeat. I don’t have a laundry room, it’s more of a walkway, so I see them all the time.

I will only buy white appliances, so I don't even care if I pay extra, and I am so cheap! I think I drive my husband crazy sometimes because I now insist on getting the color I want!
