I moved -- again -- that makes twice in 10 months. Not anything that I ordinarily do. My scrap stash has been picked over, purged and plundered twice now. Today I am beginning the process of setting up my "craft room". I've found several "project bags" -- probably material received in a class at a convention (back in the day when they did that sort of thing - and when *I* did that sort of thing), or a gift bag treat (again, when that sort of thing occurred), or a purchased kit, or ... I don't know what ... but it is a small bag of stuff. Stuff that I don't know what it was "supposed" to be.
So - I guess it is just "product" now! LOL! I'm opening bags, separating paper, chipboard, rub-ons, ribbon, metals, etc and putting them in the "general population of product" -- especially when the bag didn't include instructions or photos (and sometimes even when it did!)
Does anyone else have "project kits" that are now so long held that you have no idea what it was supposed to have been?

Yes, I just cleaned out a cabinet that was full of project kits from classes. They weren't my style at all so I salvaged the photos and threw away the pages. More space in my cabinets! No more mini albums either!

I hear you on mini-albums -- but I LOVE to make them! I just do not use them!

I have countless little bags like that, but they're from after crops and they're full of all the little things I was supposed to put away when I got home but didn't. The bigger bags were when there was a tag sale at the crop. Aye aye aye

Wayyyyyyy to left brained for that to happen. Now I have old things, for sure, they are just in their proper places. I played Mary Poppins in fifth grade and I kind of took that "spit spot into our proper places" seriously.

Yes! I just did a similar purge, I had a bunch of class kits from big mega sb meet ups and even a CKU that I wasn't able to attend at the last moment due to a death in the family. I found some Rusty Pickle, Teresa Collins, Making Memories and other goodies to put back in my stash, and just a couple of mini albums that were worth finishing since they were almost done. But most of the usable supplies were put in my stash to mix in with newer items. I miss the scrapbooking days of yore

No because I purged that kind of stuff a long time ago.
When we moved into our current home I vowed that I couldn't outgrown my scrapping space. My space is also an open loft area so it needs to look decent. It's been 9 years and I'm still maintaining ok.

For me it’s more like Marry Poppins’ magical bottomless bag (with an Undetectable Extension Charm) that I just keep finding more things!

I don't buy kits no more.

Yes, I still have some project bags like that. From Scrapfest years ago and a couple of other events. I see them in my stash and I think to myself that I should finish them, or do something. And, then I tuck them back into hiding and move on again! LOL! Your idea of separating them out into my stash might be a better way for me to go. Maybe one of these days I'll take the time.

In May, I gutted my scrap closet and put in custom shelving. I went through everything in 24 hours (most had already been touched) and got it all back together. It made me so happy.

Will you please start a YouTube channel and share your secrets?! I'm not being sarcastic - I would love to see how someone MAINTAINS organization. I redid my workspace (in the dining room) about 10 years ago, and it has grown like kudzu to invade other parts of the room... I feel powerless before my stash! Edited to respond to OP: it takes me awhile to break down project bags, too. I love crafting from kits (including kits of my own making), but I tend to leave stuff kitted up past usefulness. Hmmm... Maybe breaking down old kits would be a good weekend project...

Oh yes! Not necessarily kits but definately items I ask myself what the heck I planned to do with this or that. My supplies are so disorganized I could do better by dumping everything into a large dumpster and starting over. But no way would I ever do that. I would never recover from something like that!

The bigger bags were when there was a tag sale at the crop. Aye aye aye I have lots of bags of stuff like that--even scraps from make-n-takes or class projects. I used to remember where it came from and give it a bit of context, but now when I discover the bag' I usually store it by theme or colour. If I have time, I will take the pieces out and sort them, but not always.
And there are days I LOVE to come on a bag like that! Feels like Christmas!

I have things like that, and I have been living here 20 years. Sometime or another I have put stuff in a box or bag and put it away. During one of my spurts of neatness, I'll find a box full of stuff that looked like a project of some sort, but I have no idea of what I had in mind, and nothing looks like it belongs to anything else. Of course I have the attention span of a goldfish in a small bowl.
