I will be your Friday host for CARDtober, and I plan to look at all the ways we are inspired to create what we do.
For this challenge, I want you to create something that was inspired by an advertisement you have seen somewhere. It may have been in an email from a manufacturer or club, a product video, in a magazine--hey, even on a billboard. But something caught your eye, and you thought, "I could MAKE that..."
If you prefer, you can use the SSS Stamptember Tim Holtz ad that caught my eye. Almost ordered these cb frames until I remembered all my nesting dies...
When I grabbed those dies I came up with this card:
(Of course, in this, or in any other CARDtober challenge, you are free to use the sample as a jumping off point, see where it takes you, and then create whatever you find there!)
For today's twist, include a WINDOW. Extra bonus if you have some ONE or some THING looking in or out the window. I chose to have a gnome peeking out.
If you are a member of an October challenge team, points are: create any card inspired by this or any ad (2 points), add the window twist (1 point), Do BOTH for a bonus (5 points) PLUS add something or someone looking through your window for an additional bonus (1 point).

Is this the infamous SSS gnome? Or an imposter?? Either way, I love the inspiration and the result! It’s very festive and fun. I’ll be a little behind on CARDtober but I hope to catch up quickly. I’m out of commission for week one and then I hope to come back with a vengeance!!

I’m out of commission for week one and then I hope to come back with a vengeance!! Not the SSS gnome here. This was from Riley & Co. but I do have to say that it was the SSS ad last year that got me hooked on gnomes, so I guess this card is inspired by that ad, too

The only ad I could think of was Nike's Just Do It campaign, so I went with that.. The BOO is inside a "window" I cut out with my xacto knife. It's not a clean cut, but it'll do. CARDtober day two by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr

scrappyrabbit, I think that is a very fun take on the challenge! grammadee, this was a surprisingly hard challenge for me. I have a grand knack for ignoring ads. However, a JoAnn’s ad came into my email news feed last night that was perfect. It showed a fall table runner with a plaid outer border. The table runner made me think of a slimline card.

scrappyrabbit, I love a punny card, and this one is a WINNER!!! Love it! scrapnnana, I love your table runner inspired slim line card. I am a sucker for anything with houses on it. If I can figure out how to lift this for a Christmas card, I may just do that

scrappyrabbit cute, cute and I am still laughing, "just boo it". scrapnnana , lovely and excellent use of the slimline dimensions. I was watching TV and I thought, "Oh, I need to pay attention to some ads". So first there was an ad for a guy sniffing a towel that turned out to be the dog's towel. The colors of the room he was in were pastel yellow and green. Then the next ad had people driving in the rain to find their wandering dog. So I sort of combined those two.

What a sweet card, jjpeapea! That puppy stamp is perfect: looks like he is staring out the window looking for his person to return. Love the soft colours, too.

I saw this ad in a magazine and really liked the colors and the ombre background. I used a foliage frame die for the window and the little monkey peeking out on the bottom. grammadee is this meets the twist? CARDtober #2 by Azcrafty, on Flickr

okay - I rarely see ads - don't watch TV and have most blocked on the computer. So I used grammadee 's example and the corresponding ad as my inspiration. And used, for the very first time EVER my rectangle stitched dies that I've had for probably a decade or so. I also trimmed the off-cuts to make the frames.

Ok, I'm a little behind but here is mine. It's inspired by a seed packet I saw at the nursery, as soon as I saw it this card started to form in my head.

That is a really pretty card, kkrenn. Love that shade of blue and it goes so well with that soft beige. And the pattern is so elegant! Can't believe how many different designs came out of ads we have seen. Guess crafters always have their eyes open, looking for ideas!

Off topic, but grammadee did you see the new ghome stamp at SSS? I didn't see the new one. Do you have a link? I managed to acquire last month the large and small SS gnome dies from last year. I want to use them to cut gnomes out of patterned papers. Have done a few for birthday cards, but not for Christmas yet.
