Hi folks 👋 I’m hosting Saturdays with an easy color scheme/mood board challenge each week. Or at least I hope it will be easy! I was inspired by a video I saw a while back to make cards using cactus/succulent greens with light and bright pinks. I chose to buy this collection from Damask Love because they had that combination, plus a bright yellow that added more cheerfulness. So that’s the challenge - use greens and pinks. Easy Or if you want to use my sample as a jumping off point in another way, that’s cool too. Twist: add some ombré!CARDtober green pink by jo.blackford, on Flickr Here is the video that inspired this color scheme:

Cute card, joblackford. When I haul out my Christmas card making supplies, I will see what I can do with those colours. Pretty sure there are some pastels in there, and pink & green is not that far from red & green, right? And I DO love ombre. Thanks for linking the video--a reminder to me that there is more than one way to fold a card LOL. Still working on my blending techniques, even with inks, and I want to try laying down the light all over before bringing in the darker colours. See if that works better than what I have been doing.

Here ya go, joblackford: Went with a slimline Christmas card. Found a couple of pinkish elements from an old Hunky Dory card kit. Did my best to blend 3 Oxide inks on the card base... CARDtober #3 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

You made pink and green work for Christmas! I like it. The blending looks great - did it give you troubles? Do you remember which colors you used? I'm not sure if I have 3 oxide greens. I stopped collecting after a while.

I used a green card base and a pink skull pattern paper! Pink and green for Halloween? That's very cool and unexpected. The Halloween elements you used are really pretty and I love that skull paper. Great job, and thanks for playing along

Great job, and thanks for playing along Thank you! The skull paper is from the Recollections 6x6 per pad called Pinkaboo. The stickers I also picked up from Michaels; they didn’t have a name but they definitely coordinate with that paper. I am determined to take advantage of cardtober to do my Halloween cards!

I don't think the trouble was with them, but with me. And my blending brush which seemed to be retaining some of the previous inks I had used it for. I have only two, and one I use for cooler colours like green and blue and the other for warmer colours like red & orange. I have never washed the brush, just wiped off excess ink on a scrap paper. But I think it might be time to give this one a bath!

Actually I just got some knock-off rainbow makeup brushes so I'll have a visual reminder of which brush goes with which color but I haven't done any ink blending in a while. I think I have 2/3 of those colors, maybe the 3rd in regular distress.

I love pinks and greens together! Here's my card for this challenge. Ooh, I love those shades, and your clean and simple style. The texture of the background really bring this card up a notch.

I always loved this Waffle Flower stamp set. I already had my hero arts ink cubes so I used them to water color this image. Not loving the way the inks didn't blend well, very difficult to color with them. I did use the ink cubes to swipe them on the cardstocks for the background. Ombre style!!!! grammadee, your slimline Christmas card is charming. It’s a great combination of color and design. scrappyrabbit, your Halloween card with the pink and black is a fun twist on the usual Halloween colors. hate spiders in real life, but I love spider webs on Halloween cards for some reason. CoffeeCrafter, I love your florals on the embossed background. azcrafty, your succulents are beautiful, and I love the ombre background. That is a cool die that you used.

I didn’t have a lot of time to craft today, so I went for a quick project. I used a Simple Stories cut apart, a Queen & Co. die, and made a shaker Christmas card. The hardest part of this challenge was finding a green card stock that matched the green in the background paper, for cutting the tree outline that tops the shaker. I had one sheet of the right green in a ridiculously huge stash. The bling is also from Queen & Co.

scrapnnana, that shaker card is really pretty. I like that the tree with the shaker is part of a little forest. I have trouble matching greens. Seems that I have 50 green cs sheets, yet never have the shade I need.

joblackford - love the colour challenge! Your cactus card is lovely grammadee - pretty card with the non-traditional Christmas colours! scrappyrabbit - pink skull paper - who would have thought? Great Halloween card! CoffeeCrafter - love the texture and your beautiful flowers azcrafty - beautiful colouring and that background is neat scrapnnana - love the trees esp. the shaker! I used Feb 2020 Sheetload as my sketch and ended up with 5 cards - 4 from the sketch and 1 with leftovers - all from scraps.

joblackford , thanks for the challenge. As you see, I loved your cactus card. grammadee your base looks great, you really made those colors sing. You're loving the slimlines, eh? scrappyrabbit , pink skulls, I love it. Spooky and pink, oh wow. CoffeeCrafter lovely, crisp and elegant scrapnnana , yes, a shaker! I love a good shaker card. Glad you found that paper. But geesh, "quick project", it would take me quite awhile to make that card. linda , I am enjoying the Sheetload challenge each month. Yours is cute and a breath of spring and summer. So I could NOT get the challenger's cactuses out of my head. I thought they were so cute. I wanted to be more creative but I knew I had this paper and kept being fixated on the challenge card.

It doesn't look like a quick project, but I guess those Q&Co shakers must really make shakers easier. Awesome to see another Christmas card with this colors scheme. I used Feb 2020 Sheetload as my sketch and ended up with 5 cards - 4 from the sketch and 1 with leftovers - all from scraps. Great use of scraps! Very pretty cards. I really do love that combo of two shades of pink with green. So I could NOT get the challenger's cactuses out of my head. I thought they were so cute. I wanted to be more creative but I knew I had this paper and kept being fixated on the challenge card. Hey, whatever works! I got so fixated on the original inspiration that I bought paper and stickers that I definitely didn't need. I love your jaunty little cactuses and the sentiment. I'm glad you used a paper you had and loved and that you played along

I too could not get the cactus out of my mind and I had this set of cactus stamps that I bought but had not used. I tried the ombré with distress oxides.

lynnek I love them! Those stamps are really pretty and the ink ombre came out really well. I think I have that same stencil. I should try doing an ombre and using a nice bold stamp/die cut. It looks really good.

I'm glad you decided to play with us a little bit. TBH if I wasn't hosting I would've done zero cards based on prompts. I'm energy-challenged this year. But yay! you did it. I love the shades of pink and green you used, and I just noticed it's a Christmas card. I wouldn't be surprised if that meets another card challenge, using non traditional holiday colors. The cactus is great. I'm even more in love with pink + cactus designs after seeing all these cool variations on that theme.
