And really excited to try some techniques BUT......
It has scratches on it. I just literally took it out of the hard plastic box and took off the two plastic sheets on the top and bottom and did some paint & a brayer, and it has a few scratches on the pulled print :<(
Any peas have this issue and solved it?

That's disappointing. Can you return it and get a replacement?
I have one in the amazon cart. I'm hoping someone will take the hint and get it for my birthday, but if that doesn't happen I'm going to buy it for myself for a holiday gift. They look like so much fun!

Thinking about it, but was hoping not to have to go through that if there was a way to 'fix it'.

I had that issue when I ordered from Amazon and third party was Wink. I returned them and they shipped me 2 more but they too had problems. I returned them for refund and re-bought 1 from JoAnn’s instead and the other one from Amazon/Amazon.

I returned the first one and got a new one and it is fine. Have been playing a bit. Need to watch more youtubes for inspiration.

It's so much fun to use and you can create so many great backgrounds quickly! Very, very useful! You can use paints, Distress Inks and Distress Oxides and Alcohol Inks! Great fun!!!

What size Gelli Plate would you all recommend?

The 8x10 is nice because you can use a whole 8.5 by 11 sheet. I also like the 6x6.
