My husband watches a lot of war movies at night. I absolutely can't stand hearing the bombs bursting in air. It's like noise pollution in my house. Am I the only one who suffers with this?

I'm not a fan either and I hate the sound of men yelling at the TV during football games. I lived an entire childhood of my dad and uncles and their friends screaming at the TV and I hate it so much I won't even go to sports bars.
Also he's now hard of hearing and watching any movie with him involves surround sound set to 11. A plane taking off in a movie literally makes the dishes rattle. It's awful.

I'm a wuss in my older age. I don't like any violence type noise; war, guns, killing, screaming or whatever. Makes the nerve endings in my body tingle as if they were raw.

My husband watches a ton of war movies but I can tune them out. It is the narration of all those silicon valley documentaries that bothers me. I can't tune them out so I have to drown them out. I feel your pain.

War movies don’t necessarily drive me crazy, but I hate it when my husband has the television on when he is not really watching it. Since my husband retired, he has the tv on all day long and it drives me crazy. He doesn’t even realize it’s on. He completely tunes it out and when he leaves the room, he leaves the tv on and I have to shut it off. When he’s gone, I don’t turn the tv on until the evening news comes on. I like quiet during the day.

No, you are not alone. DH also watches shows with noises I find annoying and/or stressful. In addition to war noises, I can’t stand to hear screaming either.

As my gran used to say: Men make noise bringing death. Women make noise bringing life.

My husband needs hearing aides but doesn't wear them. So he has headphones that connect to the tv via Bluetooth. But sometimes he forgets to turn the regular sound off and I have to remind him. I can't believe how loud it has to be for him. He watches old, old country music and old westerns at full volume. I watch stuff on my laptop with headphones. It makes having conversations hard - LOL

The noise from movies drives me crazy! I do not understand WHY my husband has to watch movies at 5 decibels or more higher than when he watches a television show. War, suspense, horror, or none of the above, it doesn't matter, it is louder.

With DH it is mostly old Westerns with a few war movies thrown in. Doesn't matter, they are all annoying to me. Like auntkelly , I don't turn the tv on until the local evening new to catch the weather. I'm used to a quiet house so my noise cancelling headphones are my constant companion these days. I also moved my office back to my sewing room which gives me 2 doors to close between my computer and the television. My husband needs hearing aides but doesn't wear them. At least he has them. Mine needs them (has for years) and refuses to even see an audiologist. Meanwhile the tv gets louder and he gets grumpier by the day.

My issue is the fact that the volume level isn't consistent with the movie, dialogue is so quiet you have to turn the volume up so that you can hear it, then it switches to a scene with bombs and guns and what have you and it is incredibly loud.
And this happens with commercials as well. You have the show on a proper volume and a commercial comes on blasting. Ugh.
FYI, all this is worse if you have a family that likes to use the soundbar. Although I have to say, some movies sound fantastic with the added sound (musicals, mainly).

I feel the same way when my husband watches football. I loathe it, and even hearing it as background noise makes me crazy.

My husband doesn’t really watch war movies but a lot of loud action movies. He watches them downstairs and if I go to bed while they are still on I can hear the bangs and booms in the bedroom. And chances are he has fallen asleep and isn’t watching anyhow.
I dislike watching women giving birth on tv or movies.

DH likes all the Criminal Minds like shows and usually just watches them after I go to bed to read. But if he's home during the day or we go on holidays and he's channel surfing he'll find old episodes to watch. I don't want to hear about the brutal psychotic ways someone mutilated a person to death at 9 in the morning! I don't wat to hear it at 9pm either but geesh.
I've read a lot of WWII fiction but I don't think I've ever watched a war movie or have a desire to.
