Here are 3 samples of "strip" cards from Pinterest. The challenge is to use only scraps. You know, that box or folder you have of "I might be able to use this someday" leftovers. Also, you could use all that Washi tape we all just had to have but have never used. The twist is to make a set of at least four cards, each with a different sentiment - 5 points. aa2a4fdad41189cfa2b1be2e4055abf8 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr STRIPS 2 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr 1bfbc0a767784258157ff6caf9110c1e by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr Here's mine. I've posted these before so I'll take this opportunity to answer a couple of questions. 1 - These are not Washi tape 2 - The strips on these were cut at 1/2" IMG_4625 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr

Your samples are gorgeous!
I especially love the baby card!
I don’t think that I have ever done a strip card before. Just for clarification, doing a strip card is part of the challenge, as well as making the strips from our scraps?

I had typed up a response to this last night, but I guess I never got around to posting it. Love the examples and YOUR cards! I also am inspired by ComplicatedLady's use of strips on her penguin card a couple of days ago. I just went through a bunch of scraps in the last couple of days, so am certain I can meet this challenge. But I think I will wait until we are at the crop next week. This seems like something I can do even if I am distracted...

I'm going to post this here for now, and see if I can't make some Halloween strip cards using my Halloween paper scraps later.

My sweetheart is not doing well. They had to postpone the surgery. The blood work showed that he is diabetic, so they need to get that under control first. It’s been pretty discouraging.

scrapnnana So sorry to hear about the delay. grammadee This type of card is so easy - I can do them and watch TV or during a hangout when I have nothing planned - - I slap the strips on all cattywampus then trim to size.

Oh no, scrapnnana ! Do they have a plan to get his blood sugars leveled out? They put him on medication, and he got the test meter, but the insurance is being rotten about approving the test strips, which means he can’t test his levels to see how the medication is doing. That really worries me. We were already eating a fairly healthy, low glycemic diet. However, the pain makes it difficult for him to sleep, work made it difficult for him to get enough sleep or exercise, so we think those issues are the main reason for his insulin resistance. Unfortunately, those two factors are pretty hard to fix in his condition. He desperately needs the surgery, but he can’t have it till they get his blood sugar under control, and we can’t even see if the medication is helping till we get the test strips.

I have a lot of scraps. Somehow, though, I didn’t have many that went well together. Because of the pattern on some of the papers, I cut them a little wider than 1/2” but wish I’d kept to the 1/2” size. I may try this again later but here is my card:

Some of the drug companies will give you a reduced price if your insurance won't pay. Or - you could try getting his doc to do what my husband's did. She told them if they didn't pay she would send him to the lab. Every day!! They haven't declined payment since then.

scrapnnana sorry to hear about your husband. Mine has Type 2 so we have been super cautious since March. It's a challenge to me to make tasty, cost effective and low carbohydrate meals. Also love the stitching on your BOO scrappyrabbit such saucy angles on your strips. Balanced and random at the same time. gramma thanks for the challenge. Pretty example cards! The Valentine one was my favorite. Here are my strip cards. The one is a beautiful shiny gold and it did not scan well at all. If I get time tomorrow I may take a photo and see if it looks better. Edited to add a photo of the shiny gold card

Thank you, jjpeapea. I decided to try again. I probably won’t get all 4 cards made, but it was a good challenge.

So many cool cards, Ladies! gramma, you really released some creativity here! Here are my Christmas cards, put together with leftovers from card making at the crop last weekend. As I unpack my crop bag, I think I could just grab and glue a bunch more of these (because, of course, I brought all my scraps home with me...) strip cards by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

gramma, I loved your examples and pulled out some scraps to make a Christmas card. I liked it so much that I used all the scraps I had and cut up the rest of the 6x6 pad and made 64 Christmas cards. Thank you so much for the idea! I'm getting good at doing gluing while waiting in the car! Woven Strips Christmas Cardscrappyrabbit, I really like the way you used the strips on just the left side of the card. Great way to alter the idea and make it your own. Great card.~Love the two Halloween cards. I think the random shape and size of your strips make these perfect for Halloween. They have a “mummy” look in bright colors. So cute. ~ Love your llama! That is the best. scrapnnana, I am sorry about your DH’s new diagnosis. I hope that you can get the insurance straightened out and that he will do well on the new regimen. Hugs. Your Halloween card is so cute. You have the cutest dies! I love the stitched Boo and the stitched banner. Great collection of Halloween papers. Your 2nd card is a great design too. Great papers and you cut so precisely! jjpeapea, you did a great collection of strip cards. So many ways to use leftovers. I have been making notes. I have a lot of scraps! I love the richness of the shiny gold. Linda, your cards are great. Don't you love to have a bunch of cards that can be used for lots of occasions. Yours are perfect for those last minute decisions to “send a card”. I know you will be happy to have these and someone(s) will love receiving them. azcrafty, I love the centerpieces on each of your cards. The red, black and gold look so rich and pretty. I am amazed at the way left over paper can be made so pretty! These are beautiful. grammadee, I left love in the gallery on your pretty blue cards.
