Thanks for posting this. I just can't see how Mr. Trump could possibly win. There's just no way there are enough crazy people out there to vote him in.

After the 2016 election, nothing surprises me. There are more Trump crazies out there than you realize. Even if polls showed Biden with a 50% lead, I still won't believe he's going to win until he's officially declared the winner.

I don’t think Biden will win. 2016 election results shocked the shit out of me. I couldn’t believe it happened. I came to this board seething and essentially punching air. Not again. Predictable behavior and patterns won’t ever shock me again. Keeping my finger on this board has really helped shape how I feel about the potential of America.

It is why I completely blame the Senate Republicans. They are despicable.

If I were a betting person, I'd bet you be wrong. I have followed and read enough to think that it's highly improbable. Clinton made a lot of mistakes. She made them is 2008 and she made fewer in 2016, but she made enough for the loss. Biden has not. For a nominee who I thoroughly disliked to begin with (disliked as a nominee, not otherwise), I am impressed with the people he has surrounded himself with. THAT is what is important. When you have chosen a group of people like he has, I think there is a lot of hope. I am clinging to it. What happened in 2016 also shocked the shit out of me, but it's what happened in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 that have made me sickened. I will not - absolutely not - stay in the country if Trump is re-elected. Period. I am lucky enough to be able to leave, but Canada is also welcoming Americans as political asylum.

I think 45’s corruption began with dollars and sense though 😳the amount of debt he has!!!! I used to be in a relationship with a man who had a security clearance. It was TS but as far as I know he didn’t really have access to much of anything....every year we were “roommates” I had to submit a financial portfolio complete with my debts and who I owed in order for him to remain employed. The threshold was so low he even paid off a small balance of mine because he didn’t want to fill out additional paperwork. Meanwhile Russia only had to do some low level Pinky and the Brain work to find out America’s weakness is racism and 45’s pockets 🤷🏾♀️

The reactionary response to Americans filing for political asylum isn’t something I want to even consider right now. I was very careful with my responses on my application for that reason.

Asylum has a legal definition in most countries. It's defined as you must have left your country and be unable to go back because you fear persecution. Political asylum would be someone who fears persecution because of their political views which would generally be in opposition to their government and a fear of persecution because of their political views of that government. I don't think anyone would be in fear of persecution because of their political views in the US, do you?. You can't claim political asylum just because you don't like who is in government it has a far deeper meaning than that.

I think for Black citizens it would be very easy to prove human rights violations for asylum purposes. No need for political asylum.

Not only at the people who still support him, but also at the multi-layered ways the Republicans are suppressing the voting ability of huge numbers of black and brown citizens!

American Peas, I am hoping every single day that Mr. Trump does not win on November 3. There is no way that you should have to live through that shock for a second time. It simply will not happen. Positive thinking, everyone. Stay zen.

Positive thinking, everyone. Stay zen. Positive thinking is helpful but America is going to have to do more than Jedi-mind tricks to turn the shit show around. Tackle racism and see where the chips falls. His election would not have been possible if America had dealt with the racial divide instead of fanning the flames

Positive thinking, everyone. Stay zen. I'm totally staying as zen as I possibly can. But the fact is this has exposed so many people. People who were silent around us who think like him. And I'm scared beyond belief at this point. I haven't walked in her shoes for sure, but I can grasp where olan is coming from. It slapped me right in the face like a ton of bricks. I wanted to believe my world, my little pocket of humanity here, maybe not the US as a whole, but my world was better. And it isn't. And I'm sorry it took me so damn long to wake the hell up as my very good friend told me. It's always been there. POC knew it. I was just content to live in my own harmonious world. And I didn't see what my POC friends did. My girlfriend slapped upside the head one day verbally. I deserved it.

Why would China be keeping such a detailed list like this one. Scary www.chinadailyhk.com/articles/107/236/98/1552559174381.html

Pulling some of the text in here:
"Caroline Giuliani, the daughter of President Donald Trump's personal attorney and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, is urging Americans to "end this nightmare" by voting for Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris. In a piece for Vanity Fair published Thursday, she called on voters to end Trump's "reign of terror" and "elect a compassionate and decent president." "I may not be able to change my father's mind, but together, we can vote this toxic administration out of office," Giuliani, who has publicly supported Democratic candidates in past presidential elections, wrote. On Thursday, The Washington Post reported that the White House was warned that Rudy Giuliani "was being used to feed Russian misinformation" to the President.
"If being the daughter of a polarizing mayor who became the president's personal bulldog has taught me anything, it is that corruption starts with 'yes-men' and women, the cronies who create an echo chamber of lies and subservience to maintain their proximity to power," Caroline Giuliani wrote. "We've seen this ad nauseam with Trump and his cadre of high-level sycophants (the ones who weren't convicted, anyway).""

I had lunch today with a friend from high school (over 40 years!!!). She will vote for Trump, "even though she doesn't like him", because of her feelings about abortion. While I have no way of being sure, but it wouldn't surprise me if Trump was responsible in one way or another for at least one abortion. Put that doesn't seem to compute with the Vote for The Platform peeps. I'm terrified he will win again due to single cause voters like her. FWIW she has a master degree, is certified in her field, returned to school in her 50's for another degree, active in the community, etc.

Canada is also welcoming Americans as political asylum. Canada has an agreement with the US that says people who want to make a refugee claim must do so in the first safe country they arrive in. This means, if you enter Canada from the US at a land border, you can't make a refugee claim in Canada. Who can apply ...www.canada.ca › services › refugees › eligibility

It scares the s*#* out of me, but I know several well educated people that I consider to have high moral standards that are planning to vote for Trump SOLELY ON ABORTION! They acknowledge all of his other moral failings and horrible character, but are willing to vote for him because of the chance to overturn legal abortion. WTF?!? I'm sorry, but pro-life means PRO ALL LIFE, no matter skin color, gender or sexual identity, immigration status, disability... all life, everyone. These people are willing to overlook all the morally reprehensible toxic crap because of this one issue. It boggles my mind. Because none of those old rich white men ever had anything to do with an abortion happening. Because making abortion illegal makes it stop happening, you know. I just can't anymore. I am so sick and tired of this.

Who can apply ...www.canada.ca › services › refugees › eligibility I have a headache and maybe that's why, but I don't understand what you wrote. I took it as she was pointing our that an American citizen would be very unlikely to come under the banner of a refugee status in Canada. Which is what I was pointing out in my post further up the thread. America as far as refugees are concerned is classed as a safe country. The criteria would also cover anyone from another country that would enter the US to get to Canada. They would not be granted refugee status in Canada as they have already entered a safe country. Immigration to another country does not come under the refugees rule. So leaving the US for another country because you don't happen to like the government that is in power is just wishful thinking. There's a process to go through and its's not a given that one would fit the criteria.
