The background paper of my sample cards was my starting point for this challenge. Brown. It's a color that challenges me. I'm not drawn to it, no matter how much I enjoy chocolate and coffee. I had bought one sheet of this kraft brown coffee themed paper and been gifted some coffee dyed cream paper, and both sat in my stash for a couple of years, taunting me. So my challenge to myself was to make them work with my preferred colors and styles. --> Your challenge is to use browns, OR to choose another color that's not your natural go-to, especially if you have a paper/collection that's been bugging you and making you feel bad. Twist: include lots of circles. (You can define what "lots" means for yourself) CARDtober sample by jo.blackford, on Flickr

Those are great cards, joblackford ! I also struggle with brown. I had a few sheets of kraft with different summer prints on it that have been in my stash for quite awhile. I had never found a way to use it. It had ants and a few other designs inside circles as part of the printed pattern, which seemed to fit this challenge. This card came together easier than I expected this morning.

I love the plaid/embossed detail in the background, brings the theme together perfectly. I can see why that paper would be troublesome - very dull colors for a summery theme. But I’m so glad it came together for you today. That’s how I felt about my cards. After so many months of looking at those pieces and lamenting, once I sat down with the challenge it came together and worked. Yay! Thanks for playing along

My challenging brown card. I used the stamp set I *had* to have and then never used (until now).

I also struggle with brown - - I used it as background on these and it sort of just disappears IMG_4991 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr

It's a great neutral for your red white and blue cards. Good for a change of pace. I sort of did the same thing - using my bold stamped elements to fade the brown away so it wouldn't bother me. Thanks for playing along! It looks like you made a good stack of cards.

scrappyrabbit I had that paper! I struggled to use it, not sure what I did with it now. But it looks great as a background to your cards. I love that collection. Just used the last bits of it that I had been saving the other day. Thanks for playing!
