I've been off work (I'm a teacher) for the past week because I've felt terrible ... I just thought I was run down but it's not getting better so I have a COVID-19 test scheduled for today ... I'm nervous Have you been tested? Was it no big deal? Sorry to whine but I just feel yucky Thanks peas! Update: Had the test this afternoon! Nasal swab in one nostril ... felt like she was digging in my brain Glad it's over ... now I wait "two to six days" for results Thanks for all your support Peas! Update!:My test came back negative! No idea why I'm feeling so crappy ... must be a combination of some other virus and stress (I teach junior high face to face) I'm relieved that It's not COVID-19

I've had to get tested twice. Both times it was the rapid test where they swab deep in the nose for 10 seconds (both nostrils). It wasn't awful or painful, just uncomfortable.
Others I know who were tested only got swabbed in one nostril. It's super quick - the worst part is waiting for the results. Do you know how long your results will take?

I haven’t been tested, but my kid who has a learning pod, my college student, and my husband have all been tested multiple times, and they have said it was annoying but not terrible (and, god bless them, all three are pretty sensitive to physical discomfort).

I am being tested at 130 today. Not looking forward to the nasopharyngeal swab. I hope yours is negative! I am a nurse but I don’t provide patient care (educator). Woke up with low grade fever, sore throat and headache

I did the test through the drive thru at CVS so I got to jam the stick up my own nose. Not comfortable, but bearable. Now, if someone else had been jabbing it up there it might have been a different story. I've heard they can be kinda rough. At least you will have an answer one way or the other for why you are feeling lousy. Hope you feel better soon either way.

I am part of a study and get tested all the time. It's not too bad, and takes seconds. My nose occasionally bleeds a touch, but my nose bleeds easily and it's super dry at the moment.
The peace of mind is worth it!

I get tested every two weeks so I can visit my mom in a LTC home. It really is no big deal, just when you think the swab is going to pierce your brain it is over.
Hope you are negative and you feel better soon

It wasn't as bad as I was thinking it would be but it is a little uncomfortable. I just found out I have to be tested weekly now for work. Fun times. NOT.

Dd had it done last week for hospital admission (to see if she needed covid or non covid floor) and she said it didn't hurt. It was a little brush and maybe went an inch in. No tears, no pain. Smiled after.

It was not at all painful. It was inserted, they moved it back and forth(doesn't hurt) and counted to 11 in each nostril. It was over before it started and was very tolerable. At 11 it was just starting to irritate me and then it was over. I was terrified to do it and it was really easy. Fun? no. Easy? yes. I hope that your results are negative, but if they are positive may you not feel worse than you are now and may you feel better quickly. Sorry that you're so sick, leannec . ((((HUGS)))) to my partner-in-crime.

It's too bad more places aren't doing the spit test. My dd gets tested at least once a week (grad school) and she just spits into something and 11 hours later...bam, results.

The swab isn't any fun as they go way in but it doesn't really hurt. I found that my nasal passages were really clear afterward. Mine came back negative but I'm pretty sure it was a false negative. I was sick for about 6 weeks before I felt back to close to normal. Even now, almost 3 months after the test, I get really tired very suddenly.

Mine was an oropharyngeal swab, just like testing for strep. My parents said their nasalpharyngeal swab wasn't too bad. I hope you start to feel better soon.

I've been tested twice. We haven't found rapid testing in our area so the first time it took 3 days to get results and the 2nd time it took 5 days. Annoying only because I could trace my symptoms to sinus infections and asthma and had to wait to start on meds.

I thought it was no big deal. No worse than a pap smear.

My daughter has been tested 2-3 times every week since mid-August. Dang!! That is A LOT... poor thing. It's all relative - most of her friends started college in their bedrooms, she considers it a small price to pay for being on campus.
