Getting dressed this morning I grabbed my socks from the drawer and something fell out of them. I looked closer......it was a dead mouse!!!! I called DH in to take care of it while I walked to the bathroom to wash my hands and stepped in cat vomit.
So I went back to bed, hoping for a better start the second time around. How’s everyone else’s Sunday going? Any bad morning start stories?

I’d go back to bed, too! Mine started with a cozy lie-in with the dog. I’m scrolling FB, looking at what my family in the States has done over the weekend. Then DH calls. He went on a bike ride and drove an hour north to bike some trail. He’s on his second flat tire, the patches aren’t holding, can I come and get him? So I drive an hour and 35 minutes (manual transmission!) to find him on some muddy trail, drive him back to his Jeep, and head back home. That’s four hours of my life I’ll never get back! But he’s now safely home and Emma got to go for a ride in the car. She was happy.

From the cat's view-point. I love my human so much that when I caught the mouse, I made sure that she would find it quickly by putting the mouse in the sock drawer. I truly detest the taste of mouse, and by accident, I had to vomit while in a hurry to get to my litter box. I love my human so much.

Oh no. I think breakfast in bed is in order.
The clock went back here today so I was up early. Dog was "you're up, feed me"
Of course, he now wants to have his evening feed early.

Oh my! Your day can only go up from there. I’m crawling back into bed too. I was up all night last night, maybe strung 2 hours together. I’m exhausted. I’m taking a self-care day and by self care I mean crawling into bed and watching Netflix or Hulu all day. If I end up napping, so be it.

I’ve had those dead-mouse-findin’, cat vomit days. Just think, it could have been a dead-cat-findin’, rat vomit morning...so, it could have been worse.

Oh no! Mice are awful! That's so nice of your husband to take care of it. We have a deal, my husband takes care of mice found in the garage and me the basement. Several years ago we stored extra leftover bags Halloween candy in our nice basement cabinet. I went down to get something out of the cabinet and saw a dead mouse. Found 3 more! I went up and told my husband and he hates mice so he was in a very bad mood. I got the mice thrown out and did a big deep clean of the basement, then called an extirmanator to come the next day. We haven't kept food in the basement ever since, so no more "stockpiles" of extra food for us! We buy only a few days worth of food at once because we don't have much kitchen storage. Mice really inconvenience us!

Mice really inconvenience us! I store extra food in rubbermaid containers. The smaller ones that really seal tight. Works great!

I would want to vomit. I found some mouse droppings in my son's room. I don't know how old they were. I put a mouse trap in there, but nothing in two weeks.
I would not get out of bed if I were you.

My son woke up at 4:30 a.m. I took an ambien around 11:00 last night. It had not worn off. Once my husband was awake, I took a very long nap.
Also, I would probably vomit if I stepped in cat vomit. One of the few things that makes me queasy no matter how old I get or how much kid vomit I have cleaned up.

My day started when the dog got up at 2am and wanted to potty. He had insomnia after that and I got little to no more sleep.
But no dead things & no vomit so I’m doing better than you

Actually we just talked about whether we could get something like that! I saw some with the four clasps on them and we thought that may work! I hate not being able to take advantage of great sales because of no where to store the food. I think I may try this! Thanks for the tip!

Ugh I had that morning over the winter...went to the recycle bin in the basement and stepped on something soft. Looked down and it was a dead mouse. I am very thankful I was wearing socks, that went immediately into the trash. Mice are my irrational fear...and dh can always tell by the scream that exactly what i've encountered on the rare occasion it happens.
I feel for you, I don't think i'd be over your morning even after going back to bed.

We just skipped the morning totally and did not get up until after 12. Of course we did not go to bed until around 4, so perhaps that could have been counted as part of our morning. Being retired and because we can't go anywhere, we sleep when we want and get up when we want.

catmom. I have been traumatized by your story. Really. Not kidding at all. I do not know what I would do if that happened to me. Many years ago I had a mouse problem in the basement. I couldn't stand glue traps and the other traps weren't getting them so I put poison and one mouse died walking across the room. I was newly divorced with three younger kids waiting for me to take them to school and I had to get to work. I sat in front of that dead mouse for about 20 minutes thinking that there was only me to pick it up. To this day, it was the worst thing I ever did house-wise. And I have removed scads of pet/human waste over the years. Did you sleep in your room last night?

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have dh to 'make it go away'. I have a separate dressing room, which is ironically (but is it ironic though?) where the cat's food dishes and litter boxes are located. So sleeping wasn't an issue but I can't figure what the cats were thinking.

I mean, do you think it just DIED there of terror? Who is to say it won't die in your BED tonight?
