I don’t do weekly PL, it’s less structured and just free-flowing. I add what’s relevant and important to me, it’s chronological (mostly, sometimes things might be a little out of order, by a week or so).
My issue now is the volume of pages is not going to fit in a single album, but separating it into two albums leaves them thin and looking incomplete!
2020 is the first year I have taken this approach without dropping the project by summer. I originally guessed the whole year would fit, fully, but by August it was quite full. My scrapping has slowed since (home)school began, since we are just living Groundhogs Day over here.
Has anyone found themself in a similar predicament? I hate the idea of two partial albums, especially because they are so big, I hate wasting the space they take on shelves.
Meh.

I have the same problem, for the first time ever. Usually I need 3-4 albums for the year for PL, but not this year.. I finally caved and put it in 2 separate albums so I don't have the one album bust open, that would make me more mad than losing the shelf space (which is also limited). It's very meh.

While I don't pocket scrap (or other projects, only create 12x12 layouts), my approach to albums is to fill one completely (not overfilling to avoid taxing the spine/rings) before moving to the next. Rather than dividing your PL protectors equally into two albums, consider filling the first album then adding another project or section related to this year (e.g. October/November/December Daily, Thankful 30, Journal Your Christmas, Day/Week In The Life, pandemic-specific, extra photos or journaling, etc.) to fill your second 2020 album. HTH, & happy scrapping!

I’m in that situation too. 2020 is for sure a 1 album year. No question about it.
But 2019 I’m not sure of. I did the second half of 2019 first and thought I couldn’t fit both halves together but I just finished the 1st half of 2019 and that Binder is rather empty.
I’m going to see how they fit or don’t fit altogether I just haven’t yet because they are in 2 separate rooms.
I’m not going back further than 2019 as a PL though I might randomly scrap whatever prior to that.
So I guess I’ll see what happens going forward? I’m sure 2021 won’t be super busy either co suffering this pandemic isn’t going anywhere.

Just keep moving to a new album when needed. Albums don’t have to end with a certain year. Mine regularly move to new albums mid year.

I’ve never been able to fit an entire year in one album.

honeypea 2021 will still be dominated by the pandemic and general life + travel restrictions. It will take a significant amount of time for everyone (even in the rich Western countries) to be vaccinated and to return to "precedented times". You are likely going to have a similar amount of photos next year. Have you considered using 3 albums for two years? Volume 1 and volume 2 of the pandemic years, if you will. Makes the most sense considering your issue.

That happens to me every few years. Moreso when my kids were little, but it happened again last year too. We took a lot of day trips. It doesn't stress me out too much. Two albums don't look so different from one when they're just sitting on the shelf.
I won't lie though, it does bother me that I have to pay for a second album and that I lose a couple more inches of my precious shelf space.

I have fit my PL in one album per year by having vacations and December in separate albums. I work monthly in my album so I don't know if that makes a difference too.

I don't worry about it. I just label the spine with months and years and move on to the next album.

When I got back into PL, I found I couldn't fit a year into a 6x8 album so I moved up to 6x12. I now have 3 years worth that are full to the max in each album and I worry about those albums long-term since I've had at least one defective one before I started using it (they are SC albums). I kind of wish I would have allotted 2-6x8 albums for one year even if they were a little less than full. Long-term, I would consider going to 9x12 although I'd prefer to keep a less is more approach for the 6x12 and keep doing separate 12x12 layouts for anything significant.
Is there any way you could fill up 2-6x8 albums and do a little "extra" on some events? You could use a full 6x8 protector and add a few large photos here and there. Or add more ephemera/keepsakes since you have space?

I punch out a tag and put some ribbon through it and attach to the top ring of my D-ring album. One tag may say 09/2012-12/2013 and the tag on the next album may say 01/2013-04/2014. My life is very random, so this works for me.

Just rolling into 2021 in the same album is such an obvious solution, I am laughing at myself for not thinking of it! 😝 Of course these two 2020 albums are the first ones I have ever created the spine bookplate label thingie for, so that figures I’ll have to redo them. Lol
I’d planned to try 9x12 for next year, but oh well! Maybe I’ll just break all the rules and begin the back end of 2021 in a new size. Crazy talk!

I have older kids and take less photos so I just scrap along and if I fill an album I just start adding to a new one. It feels the way life just keeps moving along.
